After many years of going to the bike show in the NEC, and several years of saying that I wanted to go to EICMA in Milan, I finally took the plunge last weekend. Myself and a couple of friends flew over on Saturday morning and returned on Sunday evening. We had about 5 hours to walk around on Saturday and 6 hours on Sunday before we had to head to the airport. Even with all that time and just over 20kms walked over the 2 days we still didn’t see everything. It’s absolutely enormous. There were 9 halls taken up with the show, 2 of them would be a similar size to the NEC show. A big take away from the show was that the Chinese are no longer coming, they’re very much here. They had a presence in every hall as well as one entire hall devoted to their products. And it’s not all just scooters and small electric cars, they have some really smart looking sports bikes also. That CFMOTO V4 is a stunner, even if the front wings are a bit silly. They’ll never be allowed on the EU roads. If they can prove that the metal won’t go furry after a couple of winters I think the Chines manufacturers are going to take over some segments of the market. The Honda V3 looks great and is probably production ready. It will be interesting to see what the price point will be.The new Norton has some lovely detailing but someone pointed out that the front looks like a scooter with that headlight, and then I couldn’t un-see it.It was knackering but well worth the visit.

I'll post some photos if anybody is interested.

cheers Stilleto72, where did you stay, and would you recommend it?

Am always looking to go there but hear various things about the accommodation being expensive, would be a solo trip.

did you get to see and get on the BMW450 GS?
was hoping Aprillia would release a Tuereg 457, but nada. Maybe next year

We stayed at Italiana Hotel in Rho. It's fairly close to the event. It was about €100 for the night. And about €25 for the taxi to the show. No problem with the room.

The train wasn't running from the airport so we got a taxi, which was expensive at around €90, but that was between 3 of us.

I would definitely recommend it but bring someone else along if you can. If I do it again next year I'll go over on a Friday and plan to do the whole Saturday in there and go again on Sunday before going to the airport.

We got to BMW late on the Saturday and planned to go back in the morning but didn't get a chance. There was just so much to see.

Would love to see photos if you got them. Did you get a look at the new Honda tourer?

Did it last year, well worth going. Crowds are bonkers. Pics here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/KuEBuYmuVF5iPrE1A

Stayed at the Hotel Poliziano and found it good, reasonable. Getting around Milan is easy - buses, Metro, rental scooters etc. Flights are cheap.

Took at day to visit the Moto Guzzi factory museum at Lake Como - recommended, and easy, cheap to get to by train.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

looks like a great event, lots of walking ! going to head to the NEC - lazy option.

i have to say there is nothing really stirring me. Honda cb1000gt - should be 15k euro tops here, they are 12k stg in UK. its well spec'd. will it be the same old honda story, their back shocks are crap, once they heat up or you add a pillion it turns into stale yogurt. this has elec suspension so maybe that wont happen ?

but i think that honda triple with the supercharger ? is going to be a really cool bike. 900 cc triple. it'll be showcased this time next year for sale 2027.

new 700 tenere world raid looks great, some very tasty upgrade on the bike from last model, but you need to be v tall to get your leg over it ?

the chinese bikes are selling well from reports you read abroad, but ireland market is very small, so buying one to move on later is tricky - as dealers here will be looking for the usual staple brands as trade ins ? Moto Morini's new bike looks great, but they now have a distributor issue in EUROPE which they say they are resolving, quite odd that.

The CB1000GT looks great. Good power, light enough for what it is. It should sell well.

There were at least 2 Chinese manufacturers with V4 engines. It feels like Honda are the only one out there now without a V4, and they have been associated with them for decades now. As a Honda V4 owner I feel a bit cheated. 😕

Thanks! The CN1000GT really caught my eye as a potential swap for my Tiger Sport, but it will be interesting to see what the pricing is like!

Some really beautiful bikes there, but the Norton really stands out to me there. Looks absolutely beautiful!
