Dehumidifier

I have a property that has been unused in recent years.

When I go there, I notice an itch, probably from dust mites/mould spores present in the property.

If I can't be there all the time, how can I resolve this issue?

Would a dehumidifier work for me?

    All responses greatly appreciated.

A dehumidifier would work to reduce the humidity in the air (hence the name) and help prevent mould caused by lack of air exchange. The filters would work somewhat to trap the dust mites (especially the HEPA ones) but then you'd have to clean/change them. Anti-dust mite sprays (much like spray insecticides) do exist and are on the market, but I doubt you'd find them in your local supermarket, so you either check online or go to places like Woodies/Homebase and maybe even Homestore and More and some pet shops. You can also greatly reduce the number of dust mites by thoroughly vacuum cleaning the place, but make sure the vacuum cleaner has a HEPA filter, or one even better, or you'll just "spray" them around the place.

    Steam cleaning might also help.
