"Customer deposits rose by €4.4 billion – or 4 per cent – between December and September, AIB said in a trading update on Tuesday."
    https://www.irishtimes.com/business/2025/11/04/aib-raises-full-year-net-interest-income-forecast/

The Prize Bond fund stands at €4.4 billion as of October 31st. So, it's not that much in comparison to AIB's €104 billion in cash deposits.

€75 for me on Friday 7th.

The number of €75 prizes in the November draws is 8,738 down from 8,750 in October. Newest bond to win 03 October BJM265582, newest 07 November BJR553226. Sales of around €33 million.

The reduction in prizes does not mean a worse chance of winning. The odds remain the same as long as the 1% notional interest rate continues.

How many bonds are you holding? Is your win rate way above the expected? That looks like a great result on the face of it

My return YTD is pretty much bang on the mark at .76%. It was .83% last year (full year) so slightly above what was to be expected.

Win was from the same 2023 batch that won two weeks ago (second win from this €5000).

7 wins so far this year on a current total of €65,000.

Nothing for me today, fourth week in a row. If I don't win next week November will be the first month in a while with no prizes. Hopefully mentioning it will jinx my bad run………..

€50k gone to Kildare and Dublin got 6 of the 20 x €1,000

3 X €75 for me - long time since that happened - April 2024 to be exact!

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 23,458 ✭✭✭✭beertons

Haven't checked in with the prizebonds in years, but got an email to say I had a winner. Wohoo. +75 is always good. My other win must be 7/8 years ago.

2x75 for me today from the usual BEH batch.

After a disaster first half the year it has turned around since and might average out ok after all.

Prize Bonds €500,000 Draw, 23rd December 2025 - The last day to purchase Prize Bonds online to ensure inclusion in the €500,000 Draw is 16th December.

The 23rd is a Tuesday. The next draw after that will be Friday 2nd January 2026. On an unrelated topic, my emails notifying wins have settled on to a consistent pattern recently. The last 7 were sent on Fridays between 13:01 and 13:10.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 350 ✭✭carrickbawn

My email today came at 13.10.

I do everything on the state savings app.

Im wondering if I email them and request no more notifications to be sent by post if they would be willing to do that.

Its pointless getting something in the post on Wednesday about something I am aware of since the previous Friday.

Haven't had a win since September but 1.05% return for me in 12 months so i guess it's about normal.

I am hoping a little bit more than usual for a win on 28 November. It would complete a grand slam of wins in the calendar month. Looking back, it only ever happened once before, in March 2013. That was a month with 5 draws, but the interest rate was higher and prizes being €50 made the odds better. On the other hand, I had considerably less in bonds at that time.

AI OverviewIn 2013, the prize bond interest rate for the prize fund changed from 3% to 2.25% effective from January 1, 2013, and was further reduced to 1.75% starting June 2, 2013. The rate is variable and used to calculate the total value of prizes for each weekly draw, not to calculate individual interest for a bond holder.

As every draw stands alone, my odds next Friday are the same as any other draw. During the current 1% era, I have experienced runs of 7 draws with a win, and 7 with no win. Back when the odds were a lot worse, I went 5 months with no win. And my GI bonds worth €10K had a run of 6 years with no win. We all know the ups and downs.

Worst breaks by far for me were in 2021, which was truly an annus horribilis. Long dry periods included 23 weeks and 17 weeks of nothing. I remain convinced that State Savings screwed up the prize selection software programming that year, or somehow managed to drop batches of bonds from the draw.

Best stretch was 29-Dec-23 to 23-Feb-24 when I had wins in 9 consecutive winning weeks and a total of 12 prizes. Amazingly, this was followed by a one week break and then 3 consecutive weeks of wins, then another one week break and then 5 weeks of wins.  So wins in 17 of 19 weeks and a total of 21 prizes.

Best period this year was a four week period in Aug/Sept when I had 9 wins in four draws, including one draw with four wins. Worst is the current four week and counting dry spell…...

As one of the more knowledgeable and impartial posters on here, your thoughts on the software mishap wouldn't be hugely confidence inspiring.Did you think about withdrawing your funds at all though?

Nothing in October on €50k,1 win in 2025.

Yes, under active consideration. I have been using PB in spite of the poor returns because I needed the level of guarantee offered combined with on-demand availability and PB was one of the few options open to me. I have been using Raisin extensively over the last two years and I am very impressed by the way they conduct themselves and I am lookiing at transferring a large part of my PB holding in the new year and spreading it across a number of deposit banks which would satisfy my guarantee requirement. At current interest rates, the after tax return on a mix of demand/3month/6month deposits would be approx double what I am getting from PB.

Am with Revolut for a few months now (1.5% gross-1% nett) and will be investing with new bank MOCO shortly (2.1 %gross-1.4% nett) .Both banks are instant access with DIRT taken care of .As I said instant access with the ability to move on as suits.

MoCo look good and are on my radar but aren’t around long enough to be able to judge their support which can be so important when you need it. I had one issue getting a Raisin Deposit repaid and was very impressed by their escalation and subsequent handling of it. I use Revolut for a lot of day to day stuff but never have more than a grand or so with them and top it up as and when needed; the many horror stories you hear about their support would turn me right off using them for large deposits. Exact same goes for BUNQ who treated me to the worst banking experience of my life. Their support is almost totally AI based now and getting through to a human has been made close to impossible. StateSavings for all their failings and shortcomings are ultimately safe which counts for a lot. But the rates on offer are costing me too much to justify staying with them. Also my needs have changed slightly and 3/6 month term deposits have become viable for me for this pot.
