Can someone tell me what this drive/partition is and why is it now appearing in my Windows Explorer? Was it always there and just hidden?

Never seen it before, but some reading shows it's used internally the Windows Recovery Environment to point to where a custom recovery partition is. It's harmless, and probably been there since Windows was installed. Seems it just got assigned a letter is all, making it noticable.

"Worried" would be a bit strong. So you're telling me you wouldn't be curious if you suddenly noticed an extra drive in your Windows/File Explorer??

Did you assign it a drive letter? Normally just a hidden partition

No, that's what had me curious, it just suddenly started appearing in File Explorer. I've hidden it again now anyway.
