    Ya, might be no harm in updating the overall notifications that are showing at top of screen to reflect latest updates…

    This is indeed fantastic news. 😊👍️👍️

    I had been checking the Keep Boards Alive link over the past few weeks and it really looked like we wouldn't reach our required target in terms of paid subscriptions.

    Delighted to hear that we will be going for another year at least!

    The site didn't reach it's target which poses the question of whether the target was just a bit of hype to get more money in.

    Well, to Vanilla, some money is better than no money, and the same on hosting fees. When you're a big user, you can play a certain amount of hardball

    Excellent news to see more time has been bought despite the shortfall in the subs goal. Must have been a decent discount with Vanilla as well as other funding secured.

    I hope that the issues raised are given very serious thought and engagement, because the site as is, financials aside, is only going one way. Recovery is still very possible and I am optimistic about the changes we will see.

    Stay Free

    Its not an out of the box solution - thats part of the problem. The deal we have now represents good value - once we get the issues fixed. Mike is starting on a high impact issue list today.

    There does seem to be some development talent on here being offered as a free resource to help with some of the technical issues. If you treat it as you would any outsourced development, i.e. with a significant focus on clear specificaction of what is required and testing and QA of any work returned, it could be a real boon here. @corkie comes to mind but there could well be others. I'd guess there are plenty of others on here willing to put a bit of time into keeping the show on the road in various other capacities, be it marketing, design and sourcing merch, keeping the social media buzzing etc… Again it is just a matter of stating your requirements and properly vetting the results before running with them.

    Great news. I'm a daily visitor to Boards and would really have missed it. While I visit and read posts daily it's rare that I contribute my own posts so it's something I'm going to try and do more going forward if I feel I can help with peoples queries.

    Can I ask, why is Vanilla the preferred forum software over the cheaper/free options out there?

    @Boards.ie: Odhran Mike is starting on a high impact issue list today.

    Don't know if this would be classed as high impact?

    Taking the bookmarks list from

    Screenshot 2025-11-05 125513.png

    to the below with the icons in line.

    image.png

    Is done with a simple CSS addition to the boards theme.

    /* Inline buttons */
    .Options {
    display: inline-flex !important;
    align-items: center !important;
    gap: 8px !important;
    }
    .Options > a,
    .Options > span.ToggleFlyout {
    display: inline-flex !important;
    align-items: center !important;
    }

    And for missing latest button icon code that's on wrong class:-

    Wrongly defined:- <div class="spritethreadbit spritethreadbit-latestpost"></div>

    Correct with: - <div class="spritethreadrow latest-button" style="cursor: pointer;"></div>

    @smacl Thanks for the shoutout, Above are two simple tweaks from my extension, other things things from it are bit more complicated.

    But is the plan still to roll back to basic vanilla? Which might make the above redundant?

    That confused me. I was sure that at only half the subscriber target and not much movement, the site was on its way out.

    We may never know or @Boards.ie: Odhran would let us in on his reasoning for this fictitious target

    Possibly as said by members here before including myself that because costs were reduced elsewhere and other financing possibly raised the numbers needed to take out subs reduced? Why all the negativity about good news that keeps the site going for another year. Lets wait and see the plan for going forwards now and then maybe ask questions if they are needed.

    I believe that it was deemed that most off the shelf packages would struggle to query the volume of data held in the Boards DB.

    So you realised that you couldn’t get people to buy into the pie-in-the-sky €100k bluff and that it was mostly accepted the site would die off.

    So now a miraculous cash injection has arrived out of nothing.

    Hmmm…

    Anywho….

    In saying that - I’m happy the site will live on
