I see a thunderstorm warning has been issued for southern areas this evening, hopefully not to wet for trick or treaters especially in Cork and Kerry but other counties should escape it until after 8

It’s turned out to be a lovely Halloween afternoon here in Dublin and I’m sure other parts of the country as well. Great that it’s dry for the trick r treaters. Darkness is almost upon us.. 👻

You had it sussed to a tee!

It was perfect for trick & treating so mild and dry.

The rain at 9pm also means the local fireworks have stopped so the kids will actually sleep(provided they dont wake up feeling sick from all the treats 👻🫣😱)

I'm looking forward to having a nice lawn like that. The grass was not cut at all in any of the gardens this year!

A Halloween birthday party and then the little one had to do trick or treat to a rake of houses on the journey home in the pouring rain. When eventually going to bed she asked me was a skeletons hand over the moon !

October 2025 ended with 69.4 hrs of sun at Dublin Apt making it the cloudiest October here since 1968 and the third cloudiest since records began in 1942. It was rather mild and wet but non-exceptional in these areas.

The first time that it has had a top 5 cloudiest month since August 2020. In fact both July and August 2020 were in the top 5 cloudiest.

Another terrible month I'm glad to see have passed.

Stunning morning here in Leitrim. Sunshine 7C. A wonderful morning for my park run. Especially after the horrendous rain last night.

An absolutely stunning day here in Dublin today, I always find a gin blue winter sky so beautiful.

It will be a cold one tonight though.

Lovely day today alright. Enjoying the Autumn walks. Hard to believe Halloween is over already and the march to Xmas begins.

Great news that Boards is saved too. Hopefully we can get some white gold this winter!

    Saved for another year anyway.

That said, maybe the news spurs some more subscriptions where more people will feel that at least they’ll get something for their months, 6 months, or 12 months sub, because up till the news that boards has enough funds now for another year, there was no guarantee that boards wouldn't imminently close regardless of someone subbing due to the full target not being reached and with no mention of refunds in that scenario.

ie. The news might actually be what was needed to help achieve enough subs to hit the target amount (albeit a little latter than the set date). Perhaps it would have been easily reached on time and without fuss if they had been more clear about refunds if the target was not meant and boards closed.

The ‘argument’ that most of us had gotten enough value from boards already over the last decade….or two in my case, to not feel hard done by if we subbed but boards still closed, well that worked on me and I subbed without expectation for boards survival, but for younger newer members maybe it didn't and they need some assurance they’ll actually get value going forward out of their sub.

Very wet this morning as well as the warmth. A lot of rain overnight and this morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,959 ✭✭✭Dazler97

    Very mild out 14ºc currently

an ‘extra’ hour of daylight wouldn’t even be noticed on a day as dull as this, it would be a high price to pay losing an hour of daylight on summer evenings for an ‘extra’ hour of gloomy dusk in November and December.

Dreary auld day after the stunning sunshine over the weekend here in Wicklow. You really have to get out and soak up the sunshine when you get it this time of year.

Vile day in Cork, lights on in the house all day such is the dullness

Horrible - windy, wet, and mild. Not according to Google though:

    If only!

Even better forecast for later tonight!! Should I be setting my alarm clock for midnight?! Heavy snow at 14C would be worth losing sleep for.

After a very dreary day it was nice to get out for a dry moonlit walk. There are light clouds skooting across the nearly full moon tonight. It's beautiful.
