Golf 7.5 - Replacing Bulbs

Hi,

Is it possible to replace the low beam dipped bulbs in Golf 7.5, which I believe is a xenon unit.

In previous VWs I could easily access and replace with H7s say but looking at these units, there is no space and I'm not quite sure what bulb is used for the dipped lights. Current bulbs are like candles and I wanted to try replace with something brighter.

Looks like the fuse box needs to come out for access to the passenger side bulbs. As for the driver side, have you any small kids? Looks like you need tiny hands or else the headlight needs to be removed. Is that an engine mount behind the headlight of the driver side?

Fuse box can stay. You need to remove the front grill & wheel arch liners and partially remove the front bumper. The bulb in your photo won't fit if your car has xenons. The correct bulb size is D3S. I've changed them a good few times now.

It's mad how car design has evolved. Several pieces of trim need removal to access a headlight bulb. A safety critical component that is a consumable item.

To be fair the life of a xenon bulb is usually 10-15 years so they wouldn't need to be changed very often

True, I still think manufacturers are often derelict in their design process to ensure that consumable components are easily accessible for replacement.

Absolutely but when you see where they put things like oil filters on some models bulbs being hard to get to is expected
