A warning about Wise

    Hi

I was wondering have any of you had problems with Wise? I sent money on the 1st of October of this month with Wise and it never reached its intended destination. The money was meant to be collected with Western Union from the Republic of Ireland. The transaction remained pending for 6 days at which point the money could not be collected and the transaction cancelled. I am now waiting almost three weeks for the money to be deposited back into my Wise wallet. Absolutely ridiculous. I've had this problem with them before but now it has taken a turn for the worse.

Has anyone had this problem? Are there alternatives?

I suspect the transaction wasn't done properly at some point.

For Western Union pick up you need to send to Western union itself. then western union sends to the recipient via collection at a western union collection point.

I'd hazard a guess that forwarding instructions were left out at some point and the systems at western union didn't know where to forward the funds and they sat in limbo.

Western union need to send the funds back to Wise and at that point wise should credit your account.

For some reason the banking system is not very efficient at returning of funds.

    btw - you have been waiting 2 weeks. Sent 1st - waited 6 days = 7th/8th.

I was instructed to use a sort code and account number by Western Union to complete the transaction. Wise only allowed to transfer the money via swift code. I looked up their Swift code manually and input it in the transaction.

    Do you think this matters?

Why would you think it wouldn't matter? WU told you to use one thing and you decided to use another and are really questioning why there is a problem?

I'll keep you updated on what's happening. Day 27 still no refund.

    It's day 20.

If you exaggerate basic information you will get little response or respect.

Using Wise or other non bank service for Western Union is not recommended. There's no direct transfer link and even wise say that they don't do Western Union
