They've just opened their recruitment competition today for the second time this year, so I wanted to start a new thread for anyone applying this time around! I'm going to apply at the weekend so would be great to hear from others who are also going to go through the process. I think this is the first time they've done two recruitment drives in the same year which I assume is because they're low on numbers. Best of luck to everyone!

Competition closed last week, I see they expect the aptitude tests to start from the 23rd. Has any received the invite/ familiarisation documents yet?

Received the Familiarisation Booklet today, Looks like the numerical reasoning assessment will have no time limit, but it and the verbal reasoning will use "Adaptive Assessment Technology" so the questions asked will change depending on the answers you gave to the previous questions. Are these changes both new to this campaign?

I also received mine today. I haven't heard of that technology before so it must be new? I wonder if they're using some sort of AI assistance with the scoring this year, it seems to be everywhere these days! I'm pretty sure the numerical part had a time limit before so it looks like they're switching it up.

Has anyone done the assessment yet? Starting mine today/tomorrow hopefully. Is there much to it?

No going to do mine tomorrow, im nervous about the nurm, side of it 😬

Done mine last Thursday. Numerical was my worry too but I felt pretty alright with how I done. The removal of the time limit does calm the nerves but definitely don't dwell over a question for too long as you are still timed. Written exam was a pain.

The written part, is that the report based on a scenario?

    yup

what was the scenario about? 😄

    Can't share that info I'm afraid!! 😀

    How was it 😬

I just struggled to get enough words written for the scenario. But the numerical wasn’t too bad. I’d feel confident enough explaining my actions in the interview if I pass stage 1. Main thing to remember is you are not a guard so you can’t think like a guard. They know this too. So don’t overthink things and panic!!

Assessment Questionnaire - went pretty well I feel, nothing too tricky there.

Verbal Reasoning - probably didn't do as good as I would have liked but think I did OK in the end.

Numerical - I found more difficult than I was expecting as I would consider it one of my strengths , might just have been nerves, I was doing a prep course and getting 80%+ on all the practice tests, but definitely didn't do that well on the actual thing, I went over 20 mins and am sure I got a good few wrong, just hoping I passed.

Written Exercise - I'm pretty happy with, when practicing I was having a hard time reaching the minimum word count, but was able to get over 300 words, scenario had a few aspects to it which helped , would have been nice to have a spell checker😶.

I found the same with the numerical, definitely stressed myself out too much while doing it. Also definitely took more than 15 mins. Anyone know when we will get the results?

I’m just about to start the written assessment I’ve everything else done, found everything fine so far except the numerical. I’m definitely not confident. Hoping the written goes a bit better

Looking at the other campaigns, I would say we can expect to get results around the 14th of November, but since this is the first time they did two recruitments in one year it could be different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25 PassageHC23

early November they said in the booklet so I’d imagine anywhere between the 5th - 14th November !

In the written assessment, I had been practicing for one question as that is how it was for the earlier campaign in 2025 and did ok, only to realise there was 2 questions for this round. So ran out of time before being able to even read the second question unfortunately, so I don't think that leaves me in a great place to qualify to go forward :/. I was happy with the rest of it.

It wasn't too bad but I'm convinced the optional answers for the last block of questions were wrong

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 Philips123

I found the maths tricky, even though I practiced but I'm bad at maths. Thought the other parts were fine. All done now. Roll on the results! Judging by the previous thread on here, it took around 2 weeks for the results to come out.

I thought the same, maths was hard enough, written report think I managed 300 words 🙈

Does anyone have the vacancy I’d number handy for this campaign ? I’d planned on finishing one last assessment this evening but publi lc jobs are now in the middle of changing their platform and a different way of logging in is required ! Update managed to get in thanks

Brutal, isnt even the word, haven't felt right since

On the written assessment, without giving too much away. Was it one scenario with 2 questions or 2 scenarios? I submitted only the first question unfortunately and hadn't time to look at the second question.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54 ✭✭Deedee27

I kinda put both questions in the 1 statement first question on what should you do and second question reason why??

I just about got 300 words in the little box, but I wouldn't worry about it too much, on the courses it states you are not a guard but if they question in the interview, answer in a way that you would hope to improve if you got an opportunity to study with the guards to develop your skills more
