Typical of this Admin to go after the Press/Media in a "shoot the messenger" scenario to protect Trump's image as a "peacekeeper" totally self created, he alone had the bestest yet idea of sending in two real estate guys to sort Gaza whilst threatening Hamas with wipeout, persumably with Israeli troops.

Vance just a chocolate teapot in any negotiations.

Pity Vance couldn't take the same attitude to acts of violence in the US. The hysteria around the murder of Charlie Kirk was insane. Where was his, and Trump's, measured response? Where was his call for a reduction in the vitriol and reaction?

Yet again it is the hypocrisy that is the most evident about everything they say or do

There's been so many false dawns since Trump came to office that when the new day begins, one doesn't know what to expect. Maybe this new dawn of extra sanctions targeting Russian Oil exports wont be a TACO. It all depends on whether he can resist any lure calls from Putin after the cancellation of their trips to Budapest, just have to wait and see. With his main envoys busy with Israel maybe he won't be able to double-task any more.

What probably happen now is a meeting or phone call initiated by Putin and bPutin will waffle away with Trump and Trump will then use Putin’s ‘thoughts’ to do a TACO on the most recent sanctions - while at the same time RU will bang away on the front line. This is essentially a bailout of Trump friends like Pimco and Blackrock who bought in after Milei took office but are now rushing for the exits before they lose too much.

I do think this kind of thing was definitely as extreme and more so in autocratic states. So while I agree it's absolutely horrifying, it's definitely not the first time. Now if we're talking democracies, it's probably pretty unique in terms of the lengths it's gone to.

It really is bonkers that anyone voted for Trump on the grounds of fiscal restraint. This is as brazen as the smash and grab at the Louvre, but stretched out over a longer period of time under the guise of "market stability", which btw Trump has with his tariffs done the most damage to.

As I keep saying, I could overlook his first term term as voter naivety, but to go again is shear recklessness and no doubt bolstered by national hubris.

It is ironic that milei is opening up the Argentinian economy while Trump erects peronistic trade obstacles and will most likely seek to follow Brazil is orientating away from the US and the USD.

It doesn't matter how much information can be accessed by those who wish to, or how much free will they have, if their representatives are in even a slight minority to those who are in thrall for whatever reason to the dictator then free will is worth nothing. As at the moment, the majority is preventing a freely selected representative of the minority, who would be one vote too many, from taking their seat. SCOTUS is similarly corrupted and so far has ensured that this imbalance continues.

The 25 group are keeping their senile and self indulgent 'leader' happy by letting him spend money on vanity projects, but it may be this that tips the scales, especially while the fool who is Minister for War is likewise indulging himself with expensive cosplay, directly insulting all those common people who are sinking under the weight of increasing prices and loss of healthcare and social security. The result could be the offspring of the Nazi rise to power and the French revolution.

All this apparently superficial stuff could bring down the administration faster than the less obvious and glamorous, but far more important

financial and international issues.

It's not that simple. Obviously, Trump is a moral abomination of a human being who shouldn't be allowed to run a checking account, never mind the most powerful polity in human history.

The thing is that it's never been easier to factcheck anything. Therefore, the fact that Trump lies and bullsh*ts is irrelevant. The issue with Trump is that he knows how to appeal to his base and keep them onside. The strategy is to give them something by giving them nothing. They clap like seals while he sabotages their businesses and employment prospects with tariffs alongside slashing the welfare benefits so many of them rely on.

If American voters aren't going to punish what is essentially a form of light treason, then their politicians will keep doing it. It's very simple. People will act the way they are incentivised to act.
