Well he was clear 3rd choice for last few ssasons and he had a few injuries as well so if he can stay fit he should see plenty game time

Regarding squad depth for next week, on top of the updated injury list provided on Thursday:

Haley and Jager were both subbed off for HIA’s in the first half and didn’t return. Hopefully those two won’t be out for long.

Also there were two incidents with legs getting twisted awkwardly, Lee Barron off a Croc Roll, and Ethan Coughlan off a tackle in the air. Hopefully those two won’t have suffered much damage given that they were able to finish out the match.

I’m not aware of any other injuries from last night.

Question marks whether Salanoa will be available, I heard a rumour the other day that he might be playing for Nenagh Ormond RFC in the AIL this weekend.

Most recent Injury Update with Team Announcement on Thursday:

Unavailable for selection this week (for Round 3 v Edinburgh):

Shane Daly (head) – following return-to-play protocols.
Tom Ahern (head) – following return-to-play protocols.
Niall Scannell (hand laceration) – will return in one to two weeks.
Diarmuid Kilgallen (ankle) – will return in one to two weeks.
Craig Casey (thigh) – will return in one to three weeks.
John Hodnett (cheek) – will return in two to three weeks.
Alex Kendellen (ankle) – will return in six to eight weeks.
Conor Bartley (thigh) – will return in six to eight weeks.

Its a real shame ticket sales are poor for the Croker game. Almost certain now upper Cusack will remain shut and quite a few empty slots at Davin end. Having said that enough to fill Aviva where it should have been played!! Ironically it's Munster best chance in years in claiming a scalp

Such wonderful support for Munster across France yet a trip to Dublins Croker seems a hassle not worth it

I've travelled all over France and Wales through the 90s supporting Munster. I was in Croker last year and was shocked how poorly attended by Munster fans. Surely there's gang living in Dublin could have donned the Munster jersey for the evening

i dont think you can put the blame for poor attendance on Munster fans. Its Leinster and ticket prices i would think. Leinster are able to take a few games out of Aviva between soccer clashes and other reasons so Munster game is one that makes sense.

A trip to Bath is going to be

    1. More enjoyable

    2. Nearly cheaper.

    3. Much better match experience.

That is where my money is going.

You start with the home team and their fans when looking at home attendance. Not to mention the difference in population for these two teams.

it’s not a very pleasant experience - on and off the pitch. Why spend hard earned money on that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,557 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

Why is beating, or the chance of beating the best team in Europe not a pleasant experience?? Is it the location, let's face it a pretty rough location or is it the lack of away fans

LLocation isnt at all rough. And we dont need to go into that any more.

Poorly attended because its a sh1t stadium for rugby...simple as that.

An overnight match in Dublin with food & a few scoops will go a long way if not cover a trip to a nicer stadium & city to visit abroad.

Leinster cashing in on croke park has run its course i feel...good luck to them they made money...its time to revert back to Aviva for the larger games

When theyre full time in Aviva and have chance to play elsewhere they will. Not thread for it but shame they havent tried play a game in Nowlan Park or elsewhere in province when they cant play RDS

In the three games so far I think we have used 35 players with the likes of Beirne, Kilgallen, Hodnett, Shay McCarthy and Salanoa still to come into the match day squads. I'd also like to see Evan O'Connell, Clein, Wood and Sean Edogbo get some time during the year.

@JanuarySnowstor Away fans don't fill stadiums. If the Croke Park game isn't selling well, then that's down to Leinster fans not buying tickets. There will still be thousands of Munster fans at the game.

I'll add to this, they'll be more Munster fans travelling up to the Croke Park game than Leinster fans travelling down for the return fixture in Thomond Park

What does this have to do with Bordeaux?

Was in Croke Park last year for the game, scrummage getting in the gate, no pints to seats, like in the Aviva there was no atmosphere as the crowd was way too mixed, (Munster) players disinterested, needed binoculars to see the action, stress of whether the bus would show up or not, in both directions. Basically a lot of effort for what wound up being a lackluster day out so it really doesn't tempt us back

But also, anybody who thinks Munster have a chance at winning this weekend hasn't been watching their last few matches very closely. It's likely to be the same performance as last year in my opinion

"Not selling well" is a relative term though.

If there's 50,000 people there this weekend, that's only a bad crowd relative to the capacity of the stadium or to the 82,000 who were there a year ago, but it's the 82,000 that's the outlier. 50k would be a phenomenal crowd for a league fixture

BTW, whatever reasons people have for not going, cost isn't one. A Hill ticket is 23 euro, that's 25% less than a terrace ticket for the return fixture in Thomond.

Being behind the goal line in Hill 16 exposed to the elements in a huge stadium where there must be loads of covered seats between the two 22's wouldn't be attractive to most people I'd think.
I could look it up myself perhaps, but could anyone tell me what a covered seat anywhere between the two 22's is going for, and are there tickets together (2/3/4 seats) or are those tickets all gone by now?

Edit: - there are a handful of tickets together on the 22, around €77 a ticket.
Other than that, there are individual tickets scattered around, but look mostly a sold out stadium except for around and behind the goal line.

Cost is one. The cost of the ticket is only one aspect. Add in travel from Limerick/Cork or wherever, food, drink etc or worse staying in Dublin. ITs not a cheap trip.

You need to be 10-15 rows back from the sidelines to be under the cover of the stand, then you need to take account of the find direction because if it's blowing in towards you you need to be further back again

The Irish squad is heading training camp next week so that means for our InterPro v Connacht we will both be without the guys called up by Farrell.

A hill ticket in croker is much further from the action than a North/South terrace in Thomond Park

Costs are more than just the ticket price, you also have to get to Dublin, food, beer etc
