Prices are out on the website the last few days. Starts at 47,600 for the Earth 2, up to 54,000 for the GT Line. Presume that's with grant removed. Hard to know if the spec they've listed on the site is 100% confirmed. I didn't see the 360 deg camera on there which I really like.

Also its pretty close to ev6 price, which is interesting. I guess it pitches the choice of the more typical SUV shape with slightly lower range and charging speed versus the faster speed, longer range in the lower shaped EV6?

Seems expensive,€2500 dearer than Tesla MY for instance?

Any discussion on delivery dates / trade in / deposits etc. want to see one but need to get to the business end quickly if ordering for new year.

Yeah they are quite a well designed car, almost a mini EV9. Size wise very much on a par with the EV6, perhaps a little less leg room in the rear.

Model in showroom is left hand drive GT line - I noticed some German document in the car in the showroom. Very well spec'ed but perhaps all the features won't transfer to the Irish version. It did have surround cameras. Comfortable seating, more headroom than EV6. I also think the cabin is more modern and appealing compared to the EV6. EV6 feels a bit dated compared to EV5.

Big disappointment for the updated EV6 is the items removed from Earth model compared to the original models. Almost makes the EV5 seem like better value. Strongly considering one for 2026 to replace EV6.

I was told end January/start of Feb for a GT Line. Apparently the Earth models might be a few weeks earlier. All with a very large pinch of salt i guess 😀!

I'm waiting on the full specs to be released, interested to see what is/isn't included.

They mentioned an early January delivery but I wouldn’t but too much expectation into that.

Coming from an ID 4 as last electric car, the EV5 seemed luxury compared to it.

January delivery mentioned by dealer, I was told they will have some Irish models in before the end of December.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,511 ✭✭✭pad199207

Yeah was told that too that they would have possibly some models in during in December.

I have to say that grey colour is unreal.

yeah that grey is a lovely colour, hints of green and blue from it depending on the light. It's the colour we will opt for, but not sure if that's the grey mentioned on the Kia IE website.

Irish press launch mid Dec so they will have cars in showrooms around then I’d imagine but if weather is bad, I’d say that window is right with Christmas so soon after.

Got told today it could be as late as May for a GT Line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 481 ✭✭ec_pc

I'd be holding out for a 262 reg in that case!

Absolutely. Shame it doesn’t get the 20” alloys.

The specs have just gone up on the website.

    https://www.kia.com/ie/new-cars/ev5/specifications/

Hope the GT Line isnt going to be as late as May. I've put a deposit down on one, in the gravity grey and was told by my friendly neighbourhood dealer it would be end Jan/early Feb 😃 🤞.

Also put deposit down on Gravity Grey GT line, was told Jan/Feb (prob same dealer?!). Not too pushed date wise.

Thanks for sharing the specs link,I was looking for it yesterday but could not find it!

Looking forward to seeing this, I'm a fan of the ev9 and this looks closer to the ev9 than the ev3. I dont think theres much scope to have an ev7 in between the 2 again so had a look at Kias plans as they have trademarks on ev1 to ev10

Ev7 rumoured to be equivalent of kia stinger sports saloon and ev8 a coupe SUV, although the ev6 kinda straddles both those segments already.

Ev2 a smaller SUV again and ev1 a city car. Ev10 probably a pickup which may not have any appeal in Ireland or indeed Europe.

    What a lineup though.

Both were Kildare Dealers for me. One said the GT Line will be limited and it could be anytime January to May.

    The other one said January

My wife is a huge fan of the EV9. Sat into one for the first time the other day and it's a bit underwhelming really. I think it serves a niche for larger families perhaps. For me it's not a patch on the Ev5 in terms of design, finish, looks etc.

We dealt with the dealer at the top of the county. Been dealing with them for 30 years and have never let me down. Family run, makes a huge difference.

My dad bought a brand new ev6 from them in March but he was having trouble getting in and out of it, a bit low for him in his 70s.

They made it easy enough for him to trade into a 252 pre reg Sportage in September which is just that bit higher that he finds it much more comfortable, he found it easier to access than the ev3, if the EV5 was available id say he would have got that but I think PHEV suits him a bit better anyway. He has no interest in the tech in the cars and the tech at a public charger has him stumped.

    Great dealership

Yes great dealership, service is the best I have seen and would not consider another to be honest. Fond memories of buying Mistubishsi's there back in the 90's when starting to drive. This is our 6th Kia from them.

The tech at the chargers can be confusing, but I came across the simplest one I have ever seen recently at ASDA in Strabane. It was expensive, but leaving that aside the process was a breeze. No account needed, tap card or phone, plug in, charge, when done tap card again, plug out, drive away. Coudn't make it easier and step by step instructions on the screen. Great experience compared to others.

However, most people with decent batteries prob don't need to use public chargers unless driving length and breadth of country.

Mine was in Cork. We'll see who was most honest once they arrive!

They gave me a fair trade in value so I guess as long as that stays the same, January or May doesn't matter too much. I'm just eager to get it.

Got to drive the Kia EV5 today at the Irish launch. With the popularity of the Sportage, this is a great size electric SUV for Kia to add to their lineup.

nice review, seems poor enough range wise for its price.

Makes the Q6 Etron starting now at 62k base, advance rear wheel drive, for about 620km range look good value.
