Safe electric wanted the electricians details which I don't have so they said anything else is outside their remit, they said I could report it as illegal works but I don't know for sure if the electrician is registered or not. I haven't paid for the job yet so think I might need to try pay a new electrician to come out and do whatever needs doing and just pay it out of the shops money. I'm sure that will be a bit of a nightmare though

Tell them if it's not sorted by X day that is exactly what you will do because the shower is unsafe as is. Emails or messages would be best to show you gave them the chance to fix it.

Yeah true I haven't any record so far as they've just been phone calls. I'll definitely email him on Monday and get it all on record. Probably a silly question but what could be causing the shower to trip?

You need a qualified electrician to tell you that after inspecting it.

    Edit

Put previous times and dates of conversations and content in that email.

don’t get a new electrician yet as safe electric won’t entertain you if someone else has been doing electric work

Yeah I'm not sure what to do next. Maybe the shop can send a different electrician to take a look at the work. Bit of a shitshow to be honest

report the company that did the work to safe electric

It’s the companies responsibility to employ a rec

Sent the shop an email this morning with all the issues and told them I wanted a new electrician to come out and re do everything and certify it to which they've agreed so hopefully this finally gets all sorted this week

just to let you know it’s not permissible for a rec to certify another’s work (I know you’ve requested it to be redone)

You should also get a separate test records sheet

ask them if you can take a photo of the distribution board before they refit the cover
specially the main neutral busbar as outlined in my previous post (some cores have been removed so the cables will fit)

Ya I’m afraid the scope of work here has to be increased,

The fuseboard should be replaced and whole house tested , unfortunately the last REC failed to do this and just cut corners to make the cables fit

I presume the fuse board will cost a few grand to replace? I'm hoping it's something that can wait till next year as I'm maxed out on the borrowing for the bathroom renovation. I'll definitely request photos of the work he does as I'll more than likely be in work when he's here and won't get to speak to him.

it will but that doesn’t negate the responsibility to do any work or additions to the distribution board. If there’s no room to connect correctly then an additional board should be added. I wouldn’t be happy with this shower connection

Yeah I hear you. I'm not sure what I'm looking at there in that pic but if you say it's wrong then I'll make sure this new guy does it right. Maybe the new guy will refuse to connect to the existing board if it's not acceptable
