Hopefully she's not a fan of boats or Trump will aim some missiles at it and claim she was a drug smuggler 🙄

Having seen her pic, he might invite to the WH and go for the old leg over trick, give Laura Looper the night off, a tactical ride.

He'll cosy up to Maduro now saying how it's his toxic woke opposition that's causing all the problems.

The fact that she’s a woman and is brown skinned is going to absolutely infuriate Trump. I wonder if that helped to sway the committee in deciding to award the prize to her.

A friend of mine used to say that having a black President broke some Americans. I rubbished the notion at the time but now I think there's some truth in it.

Was genuinely surprised Trump did not win it, and instead the prize went to someone nobody had heard of. The Nobel peace prize was surpised to go to people who help bring peace between countries, cut back on conflicts / armies, or push for peace talks. Trump should got the prize for the following reasons, as someone else said :

Helping Make the Abraham Accords: In his first time as president, Trump helped set up big peace deals between Israel and some Arab countries (like the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco). These were the first in many years and didn't need changes on Palestinian issues. They led to more trade and teamwork on security, and they're still helping today.

Recent Help in Stopping Fights Around the World: Now in his current term, Trump has stopped fighting in places like Gaza with a 20-step peace plan. It includes freeing hostages, taking weapons from Hamas, Israel pulling out, rebuilding, and steps toward a Palestinian state. Israel and some Arab countries agree. He's also helped in conflicts like Rwanda vs. DRC and Armenia vs. Azerbaijan, possibly ending eight wars in 6 months! Dj is literally putting out fires all over the world!

Possible End to the Ukraine War: Trump could win the prize by finishing a deal in Ukraine. It might include safety promises from NATO, ongoing military help, money punishments for Russia, and small land changes for safe borders. If it works, it would calm Europe, stop more attacks, and be a big win after over a million Russian deaths and money problems.

No New Big Wars and Focus on Calming Things Down: Unlike past presidents, Trump's first term didn't start any major new fights. He focused on "America First" talks. He met with North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un to try to stop nuclear weapons, even if it didn't fully work, showing he was open to talking with enemies.

NB Trump has also helped calm things in central America / reduce illegial immigration : people fleeing across the border to the USA now are at a 20 year low.

"the prize went to someone nobody had heard of"

How many previous winners were you aware of?

    Nihon Hidankyo?

    Narges Mohammadi?

    Maria Ressa?

    Abiy Ahmed Ali?

So he has got what he wants. He knew he was not going to get the peace prize, but what he has got is attention. News outlets posting his photo instead of the woman who won. People talking about how to mitigate his tantrum. No publicity is bad publicity. Who won? Trump? Well not Trump, but his is the name being bandied about.

He did nothing to earn it. In fact, he's done more to promote fascism, war and tyranny than anyone else alive. Why would he win it?

Crapping out these AI summaries is not remotely convincing.

I never doubted it for a minute, considering that years after his presidency, one can still see squalls of hate towards him on social media, accusing him of all kinds of crazy crimes.

    He Wasn't going to get.it.

Apart from the fact that he is an absolute scumbag.

The decision is made months in advance, like decided before summer.

The Gaza ceasefire only came into effect after the Nobel Peace Prize announcement today. The prize committee held their last meeting on Monday.

As I said earlier, if the ceasefire sticks and leads to an actual lasting peace deal that doesn't completely disenfranchise the Palestinian population, those involved in brokering it deserve credit - Trump included (albeit not without the knowledge of all that was done and said in the lead up to this agreement).

But, even putting aside the myriad of reasons why Trump is undeserving of the prize - his public, egotistical and envy-driven lust for it very much included - the idea that the 2025 prize would be awarded on the dynamic events of the last 48 hours is openly absurd. It's the opposite of the calm, collected reasoning and reflection a Nobel Peace Prize should represent.

Impossible to divine the full reason of the committee, but it is notable - likely at least partially intentionally - a Venezuelan opposition politician & activist won at the same time the US is committing extrajudicial killings of Venezuelans.

Indeed, and his peace deal in Gaza will last less than a week.

The Israelis were still shelling Gaza up to the last second before the vote in the Knesset yesterday, to make sure they got the last bit of destruction done before they had to stop.

Once the hostages are back over the next few days, they'll suddenly "find" that Hamas have breached the terms of the deal in some way and they'll get right back at it.

And Trump will agree with them and get back to his real estate plans for Gaza .

It both surprises me, and not surprise me to see so many MAGA-heads buying into any personal cruisade Donnie takes up. So Donnie tries to get a Nobel and then a whole gaggle of them automatically climb onboard that bandwagon, no questions asked.

"Trump is the greatest peace maker!" "I'm so suprised that he didn't win it!"

And since no questions were asked, the following was ignored when it came to suitability for the 2025 Peace Prize:

    • Donnie started his term threatening the sovernity of several states, usually seen as an act attached to war.
    • He used the US military against his own people for being political opponents. A typical move used by facists preparing for war.
    • In his previous term he relocated the US Embassey in Isreal to Jerusalem, further derailing the peace process there.
    • He attempted to prevent the peaceful handover of power in the US by gining up a violent mob.
    • He bombed Iran at Isreal's behest, and nearly started a larger conflict.
    • He openly supported Isreali genocide in Gaza by suggesting that they "finish the problem"
    • Most if not all of the listed "wars" that he "stopped" had nothing to do with him and were usually stopped by other local factors..or often not really at all.
    • Oh and yea…he never actually qualified for the 2025 Prize because all of the nominations for him came in too late.

The rush to get the recent Gaza peace agreement in place appeared to be very much related to today. Donnie likely thought that if he got Isreal and Hamas to play nice before today, that the Prize would be his. It will now be interesting to see if his urgency for all of this continues after today. My guess is that it will not…and Bibi will go back to bombing people out of their homes.

In other words, it's like one of his construction projects. At best, tacky. At worst, a flimsy scam.

Putting my grifter hat on for a second then they are missing a trick. Remember that video back in 2004 of Scientology slurping Tom Cruises rectum by giving him a big ceremony to present him with a Freedom Medal of Valour*? MAGA could do similar and set up their own Peace Medal for Donnie. Get it paid for via begging donations riling people up about how he was ROBBED. He'd love that.

    * Not the regular Freedom Medal they give out to those who aren't super special.

I remember at the time, when FB was still relatively new, seeing a US relation on Obama's election posting something like "great, no more positive discrimination BS in work so!".

They did go on to become Trump voters, and I don't use FB anymore.

Trump was never in the running this year due to when the decision is made.

He might have a chance next year or 2027 though, stranger things have happened.

I remember suggesting that earlier in-thread too. Either Donnie, or likely a Donnie acolite wanting to suck up to him could go ahead create an "America Peace Prize" or something more Trumpy/MAGAesque to award to Donnie for being the most specialist of boys and do up some tacky award cerimony (Live on NewsMax) to dole out the dozens of medals that Donnie thinks he should get.

It would be pathetic…and I'd like to see him do that to that to be honest.

Several of them did not get resolved due to him. He just took credit for it.

The only ones he should imo get credit for are the Israel v Hamas one and Armenia v Azerbaijan.

Thailand v Cambodia was mediated by Malaysia, all Trump did was threaten to stop negotiations about tariffs.

Rwanda v Congo negotiations with US-involvement didn't involve the actual main rebel group, so that's pretty useless.

Israel v Iran: I am not sure allowing Israel to bomb Iran and helping them doing so really constitutes ending a war.

India v Pakistan: India denies any US involvement.

Egypt v Ethiopia wasn't a war, but a dispute over a dam that still isn't resolved.

Serbia v Kosovo: There is nothing to indicate he did anything. He only mentioned an agreement from his first term.

At most he has just helped pause some conflicts, most if not all of them will reignite at one point.

No, but the cheap gold-painted crap he put up everywhere in the White House probably won't survive much abuse. That and any unfortunate Ketchup bottle that wasn't secured in time.
