well, you don’t ask someone a question and add on a put-down at the end of it. Anyway, majority your postings have been respectful and cordial

Simple: any reports/stories I have read and seen showed very little support in the comments. Of course, I haven’t read every report or counted all comments. Of course they have support, just not from what I have read.

where did I say the West Bank would end the war? I was simply responding to another poster who seems to be insinuating that the war started out of nowhere, absolutely out of the blue on October 7th. It sounds like the poster really has very little understanding. So maybe check what I am replying to before coming back with silly replies like you just did.

You also have some neck accusing me of whatabouteru when you somehow managed to “what about” Ian Bailey into the conversation last week.

I also don’t get why you keep repeating the line about people being thousands of miles away and having an opinion on this. How does that work? Isn’t that exactly what you’re doing? Should we fly closer to the war zone in order to have an opinion on it?

that's fair enough and on reflection, you're right, I was harsh. Sorry.

I'm not a consumer of the usual social media to be honest - I've no accounts either. The media I read is pretty much limited to RTE, BBC and Haaretz - occasionally CNN.

I've really not come across any negativity but in fairness, the media I follow tends to just report facts as opposed to opinion. Of course, there's a few snippets posted here too but this is hardly an unbiased forum so I would be analysing for/against opinions either.

But I do know that there has been a lot of reporting of the flotilla. Simply reporting it is bad for Israel. They are already being shunned by the world - the flotilla activists being illegally arrested and detained before deportation is a bad look on its own - Israel denying access to Palestinians who are suffering. If any of the stories are true about the treatment of those arrested, that's enough for most people to make a decision on what they think of Israel (if they already haven't). I don't talk about it to people (really) but when people talk to me about it, they really have nothing good to say about Israel.

Hardly a scientifically poll I know, but no-one I speak to has a good word for Israel. And in fairness, they are neutral on the flotilla.

Apparently it's looking like a deal might be reached by the weekend. Hopefully this is the case and a permanent ceasefire can be agreed.

they’ve generally been accepted by most relevant bodies and authorities as being fairly accurate, and their numbers in previous conflicts aligned closely with Israel’s.

Regardless of that, because I am sure you’ll find a way to disagree, it beggars belief that the side doing all the killing bans all journalists and investigators from going into Gaza, and then their genocide supporters on here come on and trot out the usual lines, basically saying “we don’t believe the numbers until someone else verifies them” while at the same time supporting the very state who refuse those bodies access.

The gymnastics some posters on here will go through…

Say what you like about Trump, but he gets things done.

Put Benjamin in his place for sure.

You need to understand Israel has no limits. They have already been involved in political assasinations abroad. There are rumours of an Israel role in Charlie Kirk's death. If they achieve Greater Israel then what next? They are a terrorist country that behaves like a terrorist country.

There are plenty of online articles explaining what actually happened on October 7 2023. Some of the myths are exposed below. On the internet, look for images of bombed out vehicles from October 7, they were incinerated by helicopter gunships not by Hamas fire.

As it turned out, there were never “40 beheaded babies”, in fact, not a single Israeli baby was beheaded by any Palestinian. The Grayzone had at the time tracked this claim back to the soldier who informed I24 News of the story, naming the originator of the hoax as David Ben-Zion, a fanatical illegal settlement movement leader.

The Western corporate media were up in arms about beheaded Israeli babies, yet countless Palestinian babies have since been beheaded in Gaza, none of them making it into the headlines. No emotional diatribes on broadcast media, tears from presenters, or even dramatic moments of confirmation, their names didn’t even get a mention.

Since the hoax was debunked, this has been perhaps the most taboo propaganda claim to repeat, yet that hasn’t stopped other lies about babies being spread by Western politicians, TV show hosts, and Israelis themselves.

These lies were spread by Israeli soldiers and rescue teams like the infamous ZAKA organization, including claims about babies being strung up on clothing lines, baked in ovens and burned alive, even that a fetus was cut out of a woman’s womb. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu also repeated the lie that Hamas “burned babies alive” during his July 2024 address to Congress, where he received a record number of standing ovations from an audience of AIPAC-paid politicians.

In reality, only one Israeli baby was killed on October 7, amidst Hamas-Israeli crossfire. Although this is now a well-established fact, countless lies about the deaths of babies are still being spread every day. Take, for example, the Democratic Party’s former Presidential candidate, Pete Buttigieg, who recently claimed that Hamas had put babies in ovens, a claim that went unchallenged when he made it.

There is no plan or peace deal. There is a monstrous threat if the hostages held by Hamas are not released. There is a refusal to release many of the hostages held by Israel under detention without trial etc. There is no proposal from Israel to stop their genocide for any longer than a handful of days during which they will bomb other countries.

The problem is Syd, you're looking at this from a moral POV. You are talking about what's right and you want justice.

Unfortunately that's not realistic. For there to be a lasting peace, there needs to be a ceasefire and then negotiations. Someone needs to make the first concession and I can't see Israel taking that step. Hamas will have to concede first. Only then will there be a chance of a negotiated peace. And the possibility of Netenyahu facing justice.

Any of the Palestinians on the ground that I've seen interviewed just want peace, everything else can wait. It is only Hamas leaders in Qatar and others who don't want the deal.

no the actual truth i'm afraid, you can't deal with it because it shows your true nature which is being called out.
they expect not to be kidnapped in international waters and held hostage and forcibly brought to a country they weren't going to.
yes the bot comments online will be ranting and raving along with the genocide supporters and others with the usual tendencies, but it's not an actual majority in reality, they just shout the loudist and the most.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

Latest is that a deal is about to be signed and Trump is planning to travel to the Middle East immediately.

Will be extremely difficult for the Israelis to collapse the agreement, given that it is effectively Trump's personal deal.

    From Truth Social, via twitter:

Clash Report@clashreport BREAKING: Trump:I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. A ceasefire that will last a few days.

    Like the last 80 years.

    Noble Peace Prize incoming, surely?

    Give peace a chance.

It's a phased withdrawal, so things might be slower to kick off this time

You are about 36 hours behind the news. Hamas are negotiating. Israel are under pressure because the whole world, including Trump, has had enough of them.

if Trump describes Russia as a paper tiger for not conquering a country larger than France in 3 years. What must he think of the great IDF who couldn’t conquer a territory half the size of County Louth with billions in US money and weapons.
What a complete shambles for Israel. Bibi’s gotta go.

This is a 'Trump' ceasefire. If Netanyahu tries to restart the bombing, he risks drawing Trump's rage.

At least you actually answered the question, which is more than I can say for many.

Of course this stance is deeply questionable, these evil ****s are by their own claims trying to destroy the worlds only Jewish state, but it's OK because they can't do it with force right now. 😒

Still, the fact that this vile garbage is part of mainstream discourse on Israel in the West IMO (and has been long before the 7/Oct/23 attacks) proves substantial pre-existing bias.

To answer your question, I would have to accept the implied premise, i.e. that Israel is guilty of genocide. I do not concede this point. Though I do condemn war crimes, regardless of who commits them.

Sounds like good news, for the hostages and some prisoners anyway. Let’s see how things work out.
