    ATI 767 in tonight for the trial of the new cargo route commencing shortly to the U.S

    Also very strong talk around the airport of a 5th if not 6th based Ryanair aircraft coming next summer. Future is looking bright but the question is where will these additional aircraft go on top of any further airlines that may be announced? The Infrastructure needs investment including additional stands for cargo, commercial and general aviation.

    With the Ryder Cup also around the corner all eyes will be on Shannon and the region and it's crucial the airport gets it right.

    The airport is operating at a fraction of its historical capacity. There's plenty of tarmac to absorb these and many more aircraft like it.

    Not really, a lot of the concrete requires replacing or upgrading. The fuel line is gone from stands 28-23 and needs replacing. Even though capacity is down standards are very different to years ago

    There really isn't. It's already bedlam on a busy day, never mind throwing extra traffic in at this time of the year.

    It's bedlam because they've cut their cloth to match the passenger numbers, which is seen in staffing levels. The terminal building can serve a lot more passengers that saw it this summer.

    Anyway, I'd prefer the Shannon mini bedlam to the craziness in Dublin any day.

    While this should be welcomed do not forget how Mick O'Leary did this previously.

    And then he started rowing with Aer Rianta and when he did not get his way he pulled aircraft from Shannon to teach them a lesson.

    When you sup with the devil remember to bring a long spoon.

    Part of a deal apparently for another hangar to be located on the land beside IAC and Westair that Ryanair will build.

    I'm not sure this will happen. There is huge difficulty for existing Hangar owners to hire sufficient mechanics in the region.

    Would be curious where this has originated.

    Way back in November 2014 (see post #916) there were three new hangars planned.

    Of which the large IAC paint hangar was contructed on the site denoting H1 and partially on H2.

    Going on what BZ wrote, it looks H3 will be the site for new Ryanair hangar.

    Shannon loses out on Ryanair plan for €400m repair plant (Independent)

    Shannon has lost out on plans by Ryanair for a huge aircraft-engine repair operation that would have involved a €400m investment and employed up to 500 people.

    Ryanair group chief executive Michael O’Leary said that while Shannon was considered in the early stages for the facility, it no longer is. Derry is the only possible candidate on the island.

    He claimed there was “very little appetite” at government level for the investment in Shannon.

    Mr O’Leary said a final decision on the locations of two facilities would be made before Christmas. One will be in eastern Europe, likely in Poland or one of the Baltic states. Each site will be capable of overhauling about 200 engines a year.

    “We had some discussions with Shannon, but there was very little government support,” Mr O’Leary said. “Ireland is operating at full employment, certainly in the aviation space. There was very little appetite at government level for an investment of this scale or the creation of these jobs in Ireland.”

    The news will come as a blow to the Shannon region, which already has a strong aviation sector, with aircraft overhaul, jet leasing and other related business based there.

    Didn't particularly expect that! Running double daily on some days. Must be a strong performer in a shuddering market.

    Extra flights operate ex Shannon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from May 20th,

    Times subject to change, put in as a 7hr block time but that's not correct

    EI145 Shannon - Boston 11:00 - 13:00

    EI144 Boston - Shannon 23:30 - 11:30

    So an Aer Lingus increase of 3 flights pw

    LH 2 Flights pw

    Ryanair extra based aircraft 20 to 25 extra pw

    Summer 26 looking really busy.

    I see dublin airport banging the drum that you can bring liquids greater than 100ml in hand luggage from today due to new screening machines. I thought Shannon also had but dont see anything on relaxing those rules here.

    Lanzarote has been increased to 4 weekly aswell from 3 this summer. Madrid is extended aswell through the Summer season.

    I know it’s very early days but from going through the Ryanair schedule it seems Shannon will have 5 aircraft next summer. STC

    But Mondays for example show

    Stansted,Reus,Alicante, Fuerteventura and Faro departing in the morning using a Shannon based aircraft. There are further signs of needing 5 during the rest of the week aswell

    Schedule is showing 3 737-8200 and 2 737-800 based.

    KLM is supposedly looking at it. Cork has been upped to 3x daily. It will happen at some stage but not for a while now I would think

    there is a ACL Slot report out for Shannon for the first time.

    Aer Lingus are apparently operating a few Shannon - Verona flights. Assume if they are it’ll be on a W from Cork.

    Probably just adhoc ski charters. They did the same from Cork last winter.

    Ryanair are increasing Budapest to 3 weekly from Dec as well.
