On LBC yesterday morning they had an interview with a civilian who had witnessed the incident. He said that an onlooker shouted "He's got a bomb!" or words to that effect and the police immediately opened fire. Understandable I think in the heat of the moment...

In the photos you can clearly see that he had a device attached around his waist

Obviously the inquiry is the only way to get the full picture, but it won’t change anything. Three families are devastated and two police officers have to live knowing they have now killed someone, as well as possibly killing a bystander. The whole thing is tragic.

I have no issue with Guards firing shots if they feel they and the public are in immediate danger.

All while the west is distracted and ponders why antisemitism is on the rise..

Ah if a lad has rammed people with a car and is stabbing people and trying to get into a synagogue with a bomb strapped to himself, the cop has to shoot.

Trump gives Hamas till 6pm on Sunday to agree to his deal or all hell will break loose, like a hell we have never seen before.

You shouldn't project your lack of empathy on to others.

Interesting how EU and everyone keeps condemning everyday as though it matters to Israel, and how they are still "considering" sanctions after 66,000 death..

How they are showing they are going to cause a great deal of damage to Israel by their puny sanctions..

But when it came to Russia, the response was swift, sanction Russia Period!, and all those who support it, do business with it, seize Russian assets blah blah blah..

Too little, too late, and too much hype..

So EU is afterall US's poodle 🤣

If Hamas do not accept, this is the greenlight for Israel to unleash hell on Gaza and finish the job off with zero boundaries and the full support (and weapons) of the US.

The current Israeli murder rate of 91 per day will be in the ha'penny place.

    God help the Gazans - no-else will/can.

That’s unfortunate, of course, but I don’t think it changes my point. Response time is vital in these events and the British police have made huge progress in that regard. Are we ready?

Where are all the marches encouraging hamas to take the deal and end the war? Or do those people not want a ceasefire anymore?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,144 ✭✭✭Ardillaun

I would imagine it changes the protocol radically. An assailant of this type at a place of worship is not usually going after one or two specific people.

I’d be generally opposed to Israel’s conduct of the war in Gaza but always thought the aid flotilla tactic was counter productive. The outcome is clear even before they set sail and it only provides an opportunity for the IDF to look civilised and humanitarian in their treatment of the protestors subsequent to their detention.

Military ought to have accompanied flotillas to counter the terrorists..

I love the tactic of just asking questions.

I can't speak for all protestors but personally I want the genocide to end with a deal that has been negotiated and agreed by both sides not a 20 bullet point ultimatum from Donald Trump.

Sign or continue to be genocided isn't a deal.

There are many marches for the end to the genocide

Detention? They were abducted from international waters, taken to Israel and thrown in jail. Not sure how that shows Israel as civilised and humanitarian

Those who play trump's trumpet, for them sign or get genocided is called deal, this is the NWO now..

The way I see it is these governments invest in US and then allow US to kick them in the back, and these countries smile in return, I don't see them having any self-respect..

This is a strange way of conducting affairs. Sounds far more like he is looking for a surrender than a ceasefire. Lots of name calling and insults, followed by a 'sign this or else'.

Well that's the reality of what happens and 'abduction' is how their supporters will try to portray it. They'll be deported over the coming days and it will be used by Israel to deflect from the horrors in Gaza.

If you think aid-flotillas are an effective tactic then you're deluded.

Seems to me the flotilla garnered a lot of positive press ink and resulted in many demonstrations calling out the Israeli warmongering plus a load of Governments calling out Israel.

Israel for sure are apoplectic about the flotilla shining a light on their Genocide and War Crimes. No surprise that Israeli supporters would feel the same and call it a "deluded tactic".

Very powerful opinion piece written by Nir Hasson (Haaretz)

"Netanyahu and his failed government are responsible for the two greatest disasters in Israel's history: the massacre of October 7 and the Israeli response to the massacre of October 7.

In the first disaster, about 1,200 people were murdered and killed, women and children were abducted, horrific crimes against humanity were perpetrated.

In the second disaster, we killed tens of thousands of civilians, caused the death of captives, inflicted destruction on a whole district, initiated mass starvation and committed countless war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The first disaster fomented a trauma whose reverberations will be felt for decades to come.

But the second disaster destroyed the foundations on which the State of Israel was built: the international legitimacy, the diplomatic and economic relations with the Arab world and the solidarity within Israeli society"

The irony of convicted terrorist Ben-Gvir calling flotilla hostages "terrorists"… LOL

More detail on the whereabouts of the flotilla hostages plus demonstrations in Geneva and Italy. I wonder if "processing" those hostages includes anally raping them with an iron bar…

Israeli naval commando forces intercepted on Friday the last remaining vessel in the Global Sumud Flotilla, an international aid flotilla with hundreds of international volunteers. The boat, Marinette, had been trailing behind the other vessels and was still sailing toward Gaza early Friday, a day after the Israeli navy stormed 41 other boats and detained the activists on them, saying they would be deported.

Israeli authorities said over 200 people were detained and transferred to Ktzi'ot Prison in southern Israel, where they will be processed ahead of deportation. The Foreign Ministry said four Italian activists have been deported. Germany's DPA news agency reported that over 400 people had been detained in total.

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visited detained activists and posted an Instagram video showing him talking to them as they sit in rows on the floor, calling them "terrorists" and "supporters of murderers."

Swiss police said five officers were wounded during a Geneva protest march in support of the Gaza flotilla in Geneva on Thursday. Police fired tear gas and water cannon at a crowd of about 3,000 people.

Italy's largest trade union, the General Confederation of Labour, staged a general strike over the flotilla interception, causing major disruption across the country

More on Trump's "peace plan" (ultimatum)

Trump said Friday that Hamas has until Sunday, 6 P.M. Washington time, to respond to his Gaza peace plan, warning that if no agreement is reached, "All HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas."

Arab diplomats told Haaretz that Qatar, Egypt and Turkey are pressuring Hamas to limit its objections to Trump's Gaza proposal rather than reject it outright, fearing this would trigger harsher Israeli military action and worsen the humanitarian crisis. Palestinian and diplomatic sources said Hamas is close to finalizing a formal reply to mediators within days.

The diplomats said Arab states have warned against Israeli amendments that could "empty it of content," saying Netanyahu's changes or unilateral steps would prevent progress. "The American administration must decide whether it stands behind Netanyahu or upholds its own principles," one diplomat said.

Gulf states intend to advance Trump's 21-point plan even without Hamas cooperation, Bloomberg reported, focusing on Article 17, which allows Israel to transfer "terror-free zones" to a temporary international stabilization force if Hamas rejects or delays the proposal.

Lots of details need sorting out, it is not something you can force anyone into. Even Trump saying everyone is on board is a load of nonsense.

Undoubtedly, some will claim that the mothers and newborns deserve it for voting for/supporting Hamas. After all, "there are no innocents in Gaza", they are all "human animals" and deserve to be exterminated.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said 63 Palestinians were killed by IDF fire, including 15 seeking humanitarian aid, in the previous 24 hours, bringing the death toll in Gaza since the war began to 66,288.

UNICEF, the UN's agency for children, said mothers and newborn babies in Gaza face dire conditions as Nasser Hospital in the south of the enclave is overwhelmed with patients fleeing the north and medical resources running out, said on Friday. "The situation for mothers and newborns in Gaza has never been worse in Nasser hospital," spokesperson James Elder said.
