So either break them or follow them and just complain about what if.

Possible abortion of calves is more a problem than the mercy of reactor money, I'd worry about that when that time would come.

I'm not acting the hard man here, but if you want to stand up to the dept and others then do it. Don't just complain about the problems. Fix them!

Anyway going by the likes to yours posts, the consensus is favouring your opinion, so it's more valid than mine.

With regulations came grants and farm payments, so would lads give these up to be able to be free to do as they please?

There is one or 2 big farmers on here working without the subsidies,

    Yes.

Grants and farm payments no longer a factor here.

They never increased with inflation or my business growth so had to make decision to plough on without.

Is derogation and less slurry spreading mandatory when no claiming payments.

If you get to a stage of not needing subsidies you have created a very successful business. Fair play to them.

Stuff like less, slurry storage fert dates still apply.derogation, banding and stocking rates and even fertiliser restriction are null and void as they can't prove how much land you have.dont forget everyone applies to join the sfp scheme, you dont have to and the maps you submit are the key to system.the biggest problem with this avenue is access to rented land as most land Lords will want their entitlement s back with the rent.

Interesting that derogation is exempt but a splash plate is not exempt.

You re not exempt from anything it's just that now the penalty has to be enforced through a judge and that brings with it a higher burden of proof and it not be as easy to even get the prosecution to go a head as they would not have access to the info about the land base.just to be clear going without sfp isn't a licence to spread when you like and have slurry running into every drain,in fact I think you would need to have your yards tip top.

No - the EU Water Directive applies to all potential sources of water pollution - and that includes farmers outside the CAP system. Farmers in rivers catchements with Nitrate and phosphate issues in particular can expect to be inspected by the CC, IFI, EPA etc. with enforcment actions where deemed appropriate.

As someone said the payments haven't kept up with inflation. The average payment would be well under 10k. Most people are not going to leave it behind them but it's not as big a factor as 30 years ago when headage, suckler premia etc were a bigger portion of your income.
