Cordless spice grinder advice

Any half decent coffee grinder should work fine. I just use the pestle & mortar when I'm making ras el hanout, though. Even big batches only take a few minutes by hand.

There's kind of no such thing as an "authentic" recipe, though, because every vendor and stall-holder has their own blend. It's really a matter of finding a mix that you like, at the end of the day. I don't like rose or rosewater in anything, for example, as I find it incredibly overpowering.

I will say that her recipe seems a bit show-offy - I've made and researched a lot of Ras el Hanout recipes over the years before settling on my preferred blend and have never come across one using that many ingredients, up to a dozen or so is usually the norm - but some people would argue that showing off is the whole point of Ras el Hanout, so 🤷‍♀️

(My own personal take on that would be that it was more about the quality of the ingredients as opposed to the number of them, though.)

Yeah, that nice bit of texture you get in the good ones comes from grinding your own whole spices. Which I noticed she doesn't do 🧐

It's another reason I like using the pestle & mortar over a grinder, everything doesn't just turn to dust.
