The only positive is that losing at this stage in the new Champions League format is insignificant.

    Everything else is really disappointing.

I think every comment tonight in here has showed concerns for the way we're playing.

Galatasaray celebrating like they won the cup!

Jasus that was a awful game of football in general, both teams were fairly rubbish! The amount of miss placed passes and poor touches on display was shocking...ref definitely didnt help the flow by blowing the whistle every 30 seconds, but it was still fairly sh**e

Could of spent rest of the week there and wouldn't of scored 2 defeats on the bounce hopefully it doesn't become 3 Saturday

Pitch was awful as was the ref, we will progress in the CL. With so many new players it will take time, after 6 games where apparently we are useless we are top of the league.

Konate is so poor in possession, any chance Matip would return!!

Big test of Slot now. Needs to get the team to gel fairly fast.

    Huge game Saturday.

Thought the very same, we are a nice team when teams sit off us. Press us with a bit of aggression and we either get overturned in possession or simply give it away. It's a theme. We need a physical presence in midfield someone with mobility who can tackle and play quick passes forward. Not having this nonsense we only need ball players in midfield, when opposition is better than you, you need a presence in midfield.

So.....Salah out of the side was interesting anyway

    Liverpool were awful.

    Galatasaray were bad.

They didn't deserve their penalty and certainly didn't deserve to win but Liverpool didn't deserve a goal after the penalty so what can be done about it

There's has not been one message in here tonight where people are showing contentment with whats going on.

Pretty much everyone is in agreement that Slot has some issue to fix.

Kerkez at least looks to be settling in at last. Something needs to be done about the gaps between the lines as there's to much breaking down because if it. It might also help if the players weren't so sloppy in possession.

My comment wasn't directed at anyone, I was just thinking out loud in frustration!

I know it's early days but I'm starting to get worried about Wirtz. He has too many misplaced passes, takes too long on the ball, is easily bullied out of possession and doesn't offer much defensively. The game bypasses him in midfield.

Well that was **** dreadful. I can't even say wirtz is the problem, the whole lot were so bad. Unforced errors, lazy passing, Gakpo offers nothing as usual.

Kerkez looks a bit more settled but only because they're targeting the absolute mess of our right side. Still offers nothing. Csnt have any control of the game with the way Wirtz loses possession. Konate is a disaster and has evolved on his terrible form to actually have it infect and injure his own teammates.

Van Dijk played bad tonight too. I think if he's better we might sneak something. But that's only because it wouldn't have taken a lot to get something against this poor team

  • Administrators Posts: 56,305 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

I think he looks absolutely lost and I'm not sure if it's down to him not being up to speed with the team or we're just using him completely wrong.

He's like a very expensive version of Curtis Jones so far.

Jesus, we get no luck. Chelsea won tonight through an own goal and Spurs won their opener with an own goal and got a draw tonight through an own goal.

Very raggedy performance. Poor in possession, passes slow and slightly off target consistently. Out of possession, midfield so loose, left the back 4 out to dry.

Midfield were poor overall - none of the 3 consistently looking for the ball and hiding in many cases - Wirtz is clearly a talented lad, but he's not going well and starting to hide.

    Jesus, we get no luck.

Ah with the number of late equalisers / winners we've scored this season on the back of average performances I am not sure we can really claim this.

I don't think Slot has an answer to this at the moment.

He seems to be making them play this way or at least can't get his message across.

People are ignoring the fact that Liverpool have not had a full team at all and still have big squad gaps so everyone's being pulled out of doing what they want to do. But it's still not looking good. There is no identity here.

One of our midfielders needs to be told they're a 6 now and that's that. We need one and we don't have one. That can't continue

Id like to see us back to basics on Sunday.

Mac, Sobo and Grav in midfield.

We should have broke the British transfer record for own goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,189 ✭✭✭dogbert27

Arsenal 2 league games in a row have rescued a draw and a win but they haven't been called lucky for doing it.

Creating those winning goals yourself is different to winning or drawing through own goals.

Our best performance this season was probably first half against Everton. We had a midfield trio of Grav-Mac-Szobo that day. Feel like we need to go back to that to try get control of games again and build on that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Mr.CoolGuy

Ah sure Arsenal are the best thing ever because they beat Leeds and a depressed Forest and sure "it was hard a few years ago to go to Old Trafford"

I wonder if we're missing Johnny Heitenga from the back room staff
