Looking At a 2020 Sub Hulk as part of an investment portfolio.

I think it will track gold over the next 20 years or so, and possibly hit a CAGR of 8% (If only because it is discontinued).

Gold bullion makes up part of my portfolio, as does non domiciled silver.

Im looking to diversify a percentage away from mutual funds and property and would appreciate peoples views.

    Not a chance IMO.

C24 graph for last 5 years.

Downhill for 4. As it stands watches are for the most part losing money due to inflation.

Buy it if you like it but as an investment no. That ship has sailed. And it’s not like gold. There is are potential costs to ownership like servicing. I don’t see any situation where investing in the watch would make you more over the 20 years than investing in a different investment vehicle if that’s your gold.

It’s one of the Rolex though!

    Thanks for the input.

Im not a watch guy, but for some reason I love how this model looks.

    Good point regarding servicing costs.

Rolex as investment is man maths for sure but we’ve all thought that way .If you’ve money in property and funds you can afford to take a punt of €15k on something that will bring you enjoyment and at worst lose maybe 50% or potentially hold its value.

It's an old joke, but do you know the best way to make a small fortune from watches?

    Start with a large fortune.

I find the current market is as bad as it's been in my memory, so there are bargains to be had. But who knows if it will pick up again, and if it does, which brands/models will go up. Buy at a good price if you like the watch, but I wouldn't be betting the kids' college fund on it!
