Connolly being grilled more than the other 2 so far.

So Catherine is obsessed with foreign wars that have nothing to do with Ireland.

Jim wants to remind us every few minutes that he served in the armed forces.

Heather is struggling to remind us she's still there.

15 minutes in and already farcical.

Jim attacking Catherine from the start

FF clearly have polls saying she's the leader

Jeez this is so uninspiring, we have 3 candidates and not one of them is worth a vote. I didn’t think I would ever say this, but if Steen had been allowed in we might have something of interest to consider. I will vote as everyone should, but right now I am struggling big time to pick one of these to our President :(

Jim Gavin was in the defence forces?!? He has barely mentioned it....

In the US where you have almost 300m people, they got a choice between Trump and Harris.

The hate spewed by social media as well as traditional media would stop many decent people going forward, hence you get a fairly uninspiring trio.

Gavin talking out his arse. He knows right well our tricolour is being hijacked.

Very poor candidates, I'd say the voter turnout will be very poor indeed. None of these guys deserve to be President!! Gavin the best for me but will not vote for any of the 3

Heather telling us the colour of the Irish flag....amazing Jesus Christ....she is useless.

I did think about the Trump/Harris or Trump/Clinton comparison alright.

    Democracy eh?

At least you're being honest Catherine after Gavin's waffle.

Feels more to me that the host/moderator is trying to push his own views on the discussion really.

Ukraine have been the ones asking for ceasefire and negotiation - to the point that they even agreed a ceasefire plan with the USA when the USA were talking about acting as brokers in the deal. USA's envoy went to Russia with this and it was crickets from them. The big problem with Putin is he looks at this war with a totalistic view. He wants, if not the whole country back under Russian control, then at the very least he wants the 'jewels', i.e. Kyiv, Odessa, Kherson etc. Cities he would look at as intrinsic parts of Ruski Mir.

And in fairness to Putin… if I was looking at it from his perspective, expending a million men on what Russia currently holds and settling for that would amount to a loss, no matter how he tries to spin it, so I could see why he would have no real interest in peace.

The view among prominent left wing politicians in Ireland about removing support for Ukraine as it perpetuates the war I would disagree with if it doesn't come with a strong plan on how to end the war without Ukraine being overran and an even greater suffering of its people occurs as Russia puts the country under a tyrannical occupation. Having said that, that doesn't necessarily disqualify all their other views. That view of the Ukraine war doesn't necessarily invalidate or render suspect the idea that certain key social services should be run by the state rather than subcontracted to private companies who run at a profit and have an incentive to provide a poor standard of service so that their margins are increased. That's just common sense. So, even if Catherine Connolly's views on the Ukraine war don't necessarily align with mine, I do like what she has to say on these domestic issues. And, really, her views on the Ukraine war have little to no bearing on what actually happens there, anyway…

This conversation sums up Heather Humphreys....laughable really....can't answer a bloody question.

There is a longer version where she talks about her dog it's bonkers

You'd think she was in a school talking to 6th class. Bluffer.

Catherine Connolly makes great cases for getting rid of the triple lock (Both Russia and USA can veto our defence forces), yet she supports keeping it? Very confusing stance.

All three candidates are fairly poor to be honest.

Gavin performing better than expected I think. HH doing okay. I missed CCs opening statement

Connolly again with the best answer. Only one honest about the flag rather than giving some Wikipedia answer.

Connolly giving a somewhat thoughtful answer on the flags. Gavin and Humphries have been very poor so far.

How many times will HH say the presidency will "bring people together"?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

She said again we don't have an army 🙄

JG said our constitution mandates neutrality, it does not.

Going by Gavin he'll have Hermann Kelly, Pepper, Blighe, Mullaly etc straight up to the Aras if elected.

Are these three all this country can find to become President?

I wonder how many will spoil their votes?

Gavin better than I expected so far. Given he's not a very fluid speaker.

I could walk down the cul-de-sac and find a couple candidates if this is the "best" there is

So people who have worked hard all their lives and paid their taxes and PRSI are going to be penalised in their retirement for having a private pension? How is that fair?
