Can I ask when you last posted a bargain on the thread so I can see what you mean exactly about the best way to post it?

I always like to make a comment I always try and say if I've bought the item or not and why I think it might be a bargain.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Fair enough, I don't. I see what I believe is a bargain and post it, members can decide for themselves. If that's not good enough then I won't post anymore.

Now your just trying to make it about me…nice tactic..

But its not about me it about the thread in general…I follow this thread and use it all the time, weather iI post bargins or not, is irrelevant

Do you think these Buds are a good Bargin?

Do you think other should warn people if they are not, or question it at least?

Do you think I should post 100 amazon bargins, just because I filtered for large discounts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 360 ✭✭Lester_Burnham

You seem wildly stressed about this for some reason. My post about Keepa clearly backed up your point but it went over your head.

And ffs the word is bargain.

I never said they were. Warn away. Post what you want. Here's your last bargain posted btw, not very informative.

Yes and we bought these ourselves for my wife, so I know its a bargain, she took it to Nepal the year before.

    image.png

And I know you will say, I did not say this at the time, which I would agree with you,….

But at least I knew myself, if anyone asked, and it wasn't a random product.

Here's some more offers I posted in the Chat thread as examples.

I can now see why @muffler threw in the towel.

    Edit

I just noticed you have a post there about shower gel? Well I posted the 500ml Original source Mint & Tea Tree bargain but forgot to add a description so pardon me.

    repost

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,149 ✭✭✭ForestFire

Look 90-99% of posts are fine and the bargain is obvious, like the shower gel. I reposted a similar one and said I wasn't sure if it was as good , but posted as an option.

But every so often a clearly obvious stupid one comes along, that makes no sense, and should be called out for what it is.

All I suggesting is, posters check that there bargain is really a bargain, or a least say I'm not sure

edit:- Also I update my post to show we had bought the Merino wool top thge year before.

I think I'll give posting there a miss for now so you work away. Now lets not derail the thread anymore from what it's for.

    NO CHAT thread OP:

    Amazon_bargain_thread_OP.JPG

Up to buyer to assess bargain.

I consider anything more than price, amazon link + description a bonus from bargain poster.

Bargain post can always be reported to mods for removal but cribbing about not having a detailed assessment of reviews, price history etc. is a bit ridiculous imo.

    Buyer beware.

just because someone posts a product in the bargain thread it doesn’t make it so and it’s up to the buyer to asses it themselves, I know we live in a nanny state but holding people’s hands is over kill.

The 88% off was clearly nonsense and a tactic used all the time to shift cheap crap

For anyone that is looking for ear buds around this price I would recommend these.

I bought 2 pairs on buds from Anker in the past (Still have them), and they have always been good and they are a reputable company.

They also get a 4 start rating on rtings.com/P20i

I do not have this particular model, and yes its always around this price (So not a bargain as such), but I would go for these over an unknow brand any day of the week.

I have 2 pairs of these. Good value for the battery / sound produced.

Regularly £25 but always get discounted to £16 within a few weeks.

Well we won't have to read your fuckin bullshit bargains when this place gets closed down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,149 ✭✭✭ForestFire

Nobody is disputing that everyone needs to check if it is a bargain or not, but that doesn't mean anything should be posted, that is clearly not a bargain. What you highlight is simply a disclaimer, which is fair enough.

We had 4/5 posts (Well intended) in the non-chat thread directly about this non-bargain, that have now been deleted by a MOD, but yet the non bargain is still there!! The whole point of the bargains threads is to help people, is it not?

And again I'm not having a go at anyone that post a Non Bargain, but it should be possible to point this out without being hounded for doing so in the chat thread (That's not directed at you JJ880)

(The following was written before JJ880s post, and about general replies)

And this is what happens when you post bad bargains (Again no offense to Coincide here).

The Non-Chat thread is derailed, with posters that only have good indentations, I might add, are probable the ones that will receive the warnings now, for only trying to help others.

You can talk about "Caveat Emptor, Nanny State and holding peoples hands, Its up to the poster to check the bargain", all you want, but this is the result, and nothing to do with me, in the non chat thread.

That's exactly why I came into the chat thread, with some others, to try and warn posters about this deal, and make some suggestions to help in the future, but even in here, we are shut down for Derailing the Chat thread, which is exactly what this thread is for, is it not?

Why do all you other posters get so upset, to the point of threatening to leave the bargains thread, when anyone correctly points out a bad bargain, and just asking people to check what they are posting before doing so.

Its called a bargain thread, and I still maintain you should only post bargains in it (As best as possible), not blindly post things without checking. And if you happen to get one wrong, don't get upset when someone points it out, we are not shaming your family in public, it just a post on the internet.

The intention of the bargains thread is to help people. And that's I'll I've tried to do here.

My reply you quoted was directed more at Fraggle7979 who unsurprisingly has thrown the toys out of their pram.

On your points I get your position. Im going by the thread rules / disclaimer in OP. If you think keepa screenshots and review research should be mandatory for a bargain post we'll have to agree to disagree on that. Could make your case to a mod to include in thread rules but I doubt everyone would stick to doing it.

Im in favour of letting the bargain posts roll in and everyone does a bit of research themselves if the product is something they want. Reporting the (non) bargain post to get it removed is another option. Maybe you've done that already...

I won't get into the other discussion, but understand your point.

My Point is simply, posting a bargain without info is okay in itself, with some basic info is much better of course, but there must be a reason why you're post is a bargain in the first place?

BUT…if something is posted, that is clearly not a bargain (No fault or blame on them), it should be possible to point this out, and they and others just say, yes good spot, its not the bargain I thought if was….

    And lastly

"Reporting the (non) bargain post to get it removed is another option. Maybe you've done that already..."

I have not, but is this really a thing? Is this what the MODs want to happen. TBH I thought they'd be too busy for this, and then the they need to get into the disputes and what is a bargain or not, but I guess it needs to be obvious in the first place to be reported, like VAR clear and obvious mistake s only, we could call in BAM (Bargain Assistant MOD)😊

Anyway this should be my last post on this…I hope.

There are some reasons for adding a comment in the no chat thread when you post a bargain around price. Sometimes there is a voucher that needs claiming or an additional offer of an extra percentage off. So what might have originally been a good offer with a voucher and an extra percentage off, won't look like a bargain at all when those reductions change. Its not unusual for the discounts that you have to claim to change or be dropped altogether and that confuses people.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Well at least one good thing came out of this nonsense the troll got banned. If the site survives I'll probably spend some of my free time at night searching for bargains again but for now I think I'll be doing something else.

    Something about sandwiches

We should be able to post text with a bargain link. I got a warning there for saying "I bought this and can vouch for it" so that was the last time I posted a bargain.

Given that boards has a few weeks left, we should just calm down. At this stage, if someone leaves a message in the no-chat thread, just leave it be. Nobody will remember it in a few months.
