Ive parked in both, we're 2 adults and 2 kids

I'd go with the car park thats 6min walk away, with the bus you'd have to get all kids and luggage on and off the bus, grab a trolley (plenty of them) and go for the short walk

Main stay car park if you book early and get a good price - you literally walk out the front door to your car. Long stay / Park & Fly car parks are 5 mins away (drop the family at the terminal with the luggage, go park the car and walk over - it's quicker than lugging everything onto a bus for such a short hop). There's also options with Cosmo and McCauslands across the road but you need to leave your car keys with them which I never liked the thought of.

I always try to book the main stay for handiness but you have plenty of options.

On the free child places - Irish TUI has always been bad for this. We looked at it for this year (back in Jan) & most didn't have the free child places or they were gone. Whereas the UK site still had some. I don't think it's just down to the airline but down to the deals done. Technically TUI Ireland and UK are 2 different companies so would potentially have to negotiate with the airlines, hotels etc separately. As TUI Ireland is naturally smaller, they're not going to get as good deals.

so the deal I was looking at had a free child place and the total price for the holiday was approx 4k with flights leaving at 06:30.

When TUI pulled the TUI planes (wether run by air Netherlands or not) the cost rose to 4500 and if you wanted the 06:30 flight that brought it up to 4900.

The TUI flights were replaced with Ryanair flights.

When I phoned up to query this I was told TUI won’t be doing anymore free child places from rep Ireland as they’ve pulled all the TUI planes and are concentrating elsewhere.

Ok - just saying that I saw a huge difference in the number of free child places in the 2 weeks I was looking in January. Priced up a couple of options one weekend that had free places but when I went back the following week, free child places were gone & the price had risen. Now to be fair, a €900 increase that includes the free child place going and a change in airline doesn't seem too bad when. Some of the ones I looked at, the free child place alone would cost that.

    just to bump this up…..

we flew on one of the last flights back to Dublin with Tui recently - all the irish cabin crew staff ( we were told 72 or 74 ppl ) based here for their aircraft were let go by Tui. Staff were not happy, they seemed very happy in their jobs, but it was the end of the road as Tui team up with Ryanair for flights.

i was speaking to a family member, they also called Tui direct, so basically you'll have the ryanair check in situation, not a Tui desk / staff, you'll book via Tui as normal, get your reference and then go to ryanair website using the same reference to choose seats which you will have to pay for - i stand to be corrected on this, but this is what we both made out. You'll do your bag drop as normal.

Tui arent really offering an end to end solution if you have to sort out your seats. And these ryanair shared flights will be with other ppl who just booked direct with ryanair so i learned ?

tui have numerous staff in spain, i counted 14 / 16 desks of Tui gates coming back, unlike ryanair using 2 gates to check in three flights - we have seen this ourselves when flying with ryanair direct back from spain other times. it wont make for plain sailing i dont think. thats us 100% out.

its seems quite convoluted to me and would turn me off booking with Tui again - what about you ?

Well if they only offer Ryanair flights, I'm never booking TUI again

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

Yeah if its ryanair I'll just pick where I want to go and book myself, don't see the point for the tui booking unless its an exclusively tui resort/hotel.

eta I tended to search TUI holidays by TUI flights as they tended to be cheaper as they had to fill the flight.
