I would miss Boards.ie if it were not here.

I have a criticism about a scrolling glitch when I use the mobile version of the site. It makes it hard for me to post because the screen keeps scrolling up and down. I don't have this problem on the desktop site.

I think social media has changed very fast, and Youtube is effectively a forum now. Theres also Reddit.

I think a social media strategy to promote boards.ie might have helped/might help, including a Youtube channel, interviews with politicians, commentators etc.

Exactly this. I'm retired and reading Boards is just like watching TV or reading online newspaper articles. I enjoy Boards but if it vanished tomorrow I wouldn't lose too much sleep to be honest.

It's a place to me to keep Limerick people updated with Treaty United matches.

AH and then CA used to be worth posting in, now it's not.

I don't know whether anyone remembers the phrase from a newspaper ad years ago (the independent I think) - before you make up your mind, open it. That's what boards is to me. It's hearing a collection of views and alternative thinking on topics and offering you a different perspective so that, if you want to, you can have a think and maybe broaden your opinion on something.

Or it can be something someone posted that makes you chuckle for the day. For example, I just took a quick look into the Charlie Kirk thread and yes there's discussion ongoing that's very serious etc. But my take away is something totally brilliant that someone posted that I know I'll take with me and use every chance I get, which is this:-

It's the best thing I've seen on boards in a long time and that's why I love it so much - the gift that keeps on giving😄

I would miss boards if it disappeared; there's nowhere else I could go to, to tap into Irish specific knowledge like it which ranges from where I could source specialist items or tap into knowledge of local history etc.

The 'niche interest' forums are what I'd miss. I do partake in some current affairs threads/topics but I wouldn't miss that nearly as much as that sort of debate is available elsewhere.

It must mean a lot to people because, complaints or not, there are posters still here and even those who get banned keep reregging to get back in 😄. And even where they don't/can't get back in, rumour has it they can't stop talking about the site! Boards has even been the inspiration for new fora so the bonds made here could continue. Without boards they wouldn't exist!
