me again, how accurate or real time is this? do you know

seems one store has it: Limited Availability

not sure what this means exactly, but not sure how up top date this checker is, could be hours or days behind for all I know

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 758 ✭✭✭RCSATELLITES

    No probs!

I can't say I ever used it, so not entirely sure.

But if only one lidl has it, I am not so sure I would trust the information. Yeah limited availability could mean anything 😅

Tried it yesterday, as stated, it was Limited availability

Went to shop and they had one left, I then purchased said item

Checked the app a few mins later and marked as No Availability

    so seems to work :)

Never knew that was there. Only issue is , it's slow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 758 ✭✭✭RCSATELLITES

Thanks for letting me know, seems to work well. Happy you got the item. I have a few Lidl beside me and so many times I have driven to each one, knowing this was available on the app 😅. Will have to use it for now on.

only works for items advertised in the last 14 days yet using the regular search option will show you stuff from earlier promotions

It might be cheap but the second item in the snapshot above of alcoholic beverages on offer isn't quite drawing me in... :)

On the subject of queues and wasting staff time, lidl need to do more to stop confusing deals.

Like 50% off 200 gram packet of so and so that is sold out but the 250 gram packs are right beside them. People get the 250 gram expecting a deal only to come back in store with their receipt giving out the deal wasn't applied wasting time.

Oh, and get those big shopping bags back in stock where you can shovel armful of groceries into the bag at once. The bags they have now are tiny in comparison and you have to put items in one by one holding the bag open.

    This one:

New store opening in Dunboyne this Thursday, if you're anywhere close to it set your store to there for a few weeks worth of €10 of €50 vouchers for that store only.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

there seemed to be a warehouse sale in clonee while passing but i was too tired to go in and get more crap I probably won’t use or need.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,197 ✭✭✭gussieg

also , buying stuff reduced but still getting overcharged due to human error seems to happen in Lidl more than other shops

Father Jack would make short work of that. He's fond of the ol' household products like Windolene and Purge floor polish. 😉

The Lidl Plus offer of 3 for 2 ended yesterday, but it was a gammy offer. I was in there yesterday before it ended, and bought 3 packs of crumbed ham and 3 packs of white baps.

I thought the offer would result in 3 for 2 on the ham and 3 for 2 on the baps. But it lumps everything all together, so instead the discount gave me the 2 cheapest items free. I only noticed this on my way out whilst looking at the receipt.

And thinking about it now, I've got screwed on numerous occasions with this "offer". Only a few days previous, I bought 3 blocks of extra mature cheddar(~€3) and 3 potato farls(80¢) in the one transaction. So instead of getting a discount of €3.80, it was €1.60. And that was only for 6 items. Add that up over a big shop, and it only grows larger and larger.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought it was this way. The staff were very nice and helpful, one of them was saying the system isn't sophisticated enough to do it the way I thought it was. But I think it's a deliberate ploy by Lidl to get people to buy more and not make the savings they think they are. I went back and got the discount by buying them as 3 hams and 3 baps separately. But it was so convoluted and took about 5 minutes to do it. Signing a receipt for each transaction. I don't blame the staff, but it was so messy.

The offer is quite clear - it is 3 for 2 on varied range, cheapest item is free. Not everyone will buy 3 hams, 3 breads, etc.

Also a daily kickstart gift in-app, today is ginger shots for €4.xx

    edit: got offer wrong

    I got caught last year.

Other stores would rank the items within the deal and give you every third one free, not lidl.

This year I separated my basket to make the deal work the way I think it should.

I think you could be caught out in Dunnes on this deal, "Buy 3 get cheapest free".

I think it would be the cheapest 2 out of 6. I always split the shop to be sure.

I got 2 x Ginger Shots (whatever they are) for €4.50 - yours seems like much better value!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,046 ✭✭✭✭zell12

Got my offers mixed up 😞 it is ginger shots

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,461 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

It's not quite clear. And even if it was, it shouldn't be done this way. It's a nonsense that if you buy the items in separate groups of 3, you will make the full and substantial savings, depending on how many products you purchase.

I've no doubt Lidl are relying on people not realizing fully how the offer works. It could easily be implemented on their computer system to do this, but that wouldn't be beneficial for Lidl's profits.

I generally get cheese blocks in these 3 for 2 offer...last time I got bagels with cheese and behold...cheese did not get discount. Went to staff and they refunded the amount. Customer service on Whatsapp said no refund discounts are correct

it does yes but as always the cheapest two items of six will be free so be careful mixing and matching

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,849 ✭✭✭Nollog

I see so they took the cheap ones like the offer says it will.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,901 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

yes that’s the way it always works but I guess people don’t read the details of the offer

    The internet isn’t for everyone
