We were through this last night. If you try to place any context around his death, you're welcoming it according to some people.

What was welcomed, was him welcoming the culture which led to his own death.. that is not saying he deserved it, not in the slightest. But some people are too myopic to see the subtleties in that.

To expand, he was on record stating that 'some' deaths were a price worth paying for the second amendment.

Given that it was clear that, for him, the number of deaths which are actually occurring are not exceeding the price worth being paid, so his 'some' is in excess of 50,000 lives per year. Because he clearly still placed the second amendment higher in priority than that many deaths.

He's now part of the price he claimed it's worth paying. He's the one saying that not just a single death is a price worth paying, that 50k is. In short, if someone thinks I'm scum for saying that, he's 50,000 times worse than me. It's his logic, not mine.

So, your argument is, that those who don't agree with your desire to remove access to guns can be shot - dead. and you are ok with that.

How do you read what they said that way? They never said someone should be killed or that it was ok.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,405 ✭✭✭lmao10

He was an absolute utter scumbag in my view. No shortage of outright scummy things he had said. Definitely not a guy I'd be shedding any tears over.

A Christian who preached division and intolerance, A free speech advocate who expected women to be subservient to men. A gun advocate killed by a gunshot is just so apt.

Anyway, for all his sympathisers, enjoy the next week of performative outrage by MAGA. Feel free to clutch your pearls if you must.

I don’t delight in his murder, but am glad he got a medal from the president for his dedication to the conservative cause. It’s a nice gift to receive, if a little late.

NNo Your totally wrong deaths due to homicide more like 16000 per year.

God rest you Charlie, a brilliant debater and a great family man. I'll pray for your wife and children.

I didn't know who he was at all. I was scrolling threads before I came on here and I was amazed by people practically celebrating his death and/or finding it amusing.

I then wanted to see what he looked like and saw the unedited version (how are these videos posted online) and the only solace seems to be it was quick and he seemed to die before he fell of his chair.

I am 100% against what his viewpoint is on life were, but I'm not sure how anyone can be so happy another human being has died, especially so violently.

I'd much rather people be shut down and silenced via debate and popular opinion, than violence. I'm not sure what this achieves at all, other than to confirm we're a brutal, inherently bad species.

There's only one scum bag here that I can see,but I acknowledge your honesty, unlike others who try to hide their jubilation.

Listen,we can figure out from your posts that you are happy he was murdered but are too mealy mouthed to come right out and say it.

I had never heard of him despite him being a big part of south park episode a few weeks ago, which I rewatched yesterday.

So having not known him, I'm neither upset nor happy, but looking at some of his videos I'm definitely not surprised he was murdered. But he wouldnt be the only one, political and idealogical violence is really kicking off in America.

Someone that openly says a few gun deaths a year are a fair price for allowing them to allow them maintain their gun laws for protection, id just shrug and say you died playing a game you were a willing part of. Live by the gun, die by the gun. Its not a few a year though, its thousands.

They're on the road to a civil war among themselves (north v south is now left v right) and an economic war with everyone else.

They're being told their neighbour is their enemy and they're being told other countries are their enemies. So infighting while they also becoming suspicious of foreign nations.

All led by one man, Trump. Hes absolutely hate filled and very dangerous. Kirk was a puppet on a string, like loads of others. Kirk is no loss to society.

Thats one where I will absolutely rejoice when hes gone, even if he is shot in the balls and dies from it slowly wouldnt be bad enough for him.

Christ half the posts in the thread are your fantasy of people celebrating his death. We all get your fetish at this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,966 ✭✭✭Hamsterchops

You're very lucky you can say that here and NOT have your post taken down or your account suspended. Other posts not half as vile or disrespectful will just disappear.

Personally I would strongly disagree with your post, not least because the guy has just been murdered, but also because I agree with free speech and his style of engagement (on US college campuses).

Questions would be thrown at him and he would give his perspective, debating and arguing issues of the day. One may agree with some of his opinions, and strongly disagree with him on others, but I certainly wouldn't agree with him being murdered, why? because that just kills the debate and stirs up even more hatred & division. I liked him, and I liked his style of debate, specially in the context of where he held his events and the topics that got debated with students.

    That debate is now over.

Did the gunman leave "cartridges" plural after him with these messages?

I was under the impression one shot was fired and it was far enough away to infer shooter had some training (unless it was just a fluke)

If they did have training surely they wouldn't leave cartridges behinf after only making one shot?

Yes, cartridges were left behind, I think two, as well as shoe impressions and palm prints. Certainly not a professional

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74,541 ✭✭✭✭L1011

There's no messages on the cartridges. The story has already been retracted.

Some idiot ATF officer or local cop has mistaken the manufacturers headcode as some form of secret code; and low level American law enforcement is full of idiots and conspiracy theorists - particularly since January

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74,541 ✭✭✭✭L1011

The WSJ has retracted the story. Care to retract your outrage based on it?

Somebody being shot for the views they express, or for the direction they'd like their country to go in, is something that should never be tolerated, as a principle.

That said, if somebody had asked me for my opinion on him a week ago, I'd have said he's an utter clown who regurgitates and promotes pretty much every rightwing consipracy theory going. He wanted people to feel like he felt, and had no issue telling any lie whatsoever to make that happen. I certainly do not think that America has lost some kind of great thinker or figure.

It appears that saying such on this thread, makes me a 'scumbag' who is 'celebrating his death'. But I don't see how - I don't think I'd have been called a scumbag for expressing the same opinions a week ago.

Suspect rifle was found with unspent cartridges in the magazine, plus the spent one still chambered. Fear and adrenaline could easily lead a person, trained or no, to rush from the scene, haphazardly discarding the weapon etc. Doesn't appear to be an 'elite-level' shot given the distance or relatively unprotected environment, just a somewhat competent coward who probably still got lucky with a single shot. But probably best to leave details to the people investigating.

Charlie Kirk in his own words:

"I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational."

It can't be totally ruled out that rivals inside the MAGA movement were involved. He had critics inside the movement who felt he wasn't right-wing enough.
