It doesn't exactly say that it was based only on the assessments in the email with the OOM. It's not unusual for the application form to not be considered until later in the process though so I wouldn't be all that surprised.

I recieved the order of merit. Is this the number overall nationally? Its not by the location that we selected? Also does anyone know if the order of merit is from the assessment or both application and assessment combined?

This is a national OOM. Unfortunately the email indicated they would not be able to answer queries about the OOM at this time so I would say it's pointless enquiring with them about a local break down at this point.

It kind of reads like the OOM was established from the assessment but as others have pointed out this is not explicitly stated.

Usually it is overall for the country not by county as when you pass an interview and get panelled you get a countrywide placement and you can ask them for your local oom once the panel is established. Normally they will fill a panel from batch 1 and then that panel is worked through and exhausted before they pull positions off batch 2's panel. The form is usually only used for filtering up to now I.e if its a TAC competition to see if you meet the entry requirements and I assume at the min the form was just checked for the managers assessment to see that they were marked suitable for promotion to HEO or not.

Does anyone know up to what OOM was called for interview?

This I would love to know.

I could be wrong but are batches usually done in 50? If people who are scheduled for interview could let us know what OOM number they got that would help us figure it out!

I was told in my initial email in August that I would be called for interview in late august/September and I am OOM 71. But still haven't been called for interview yet

just on the speculation of whether it was assessment based oom or not, the email says “your place in the Online Assessment Order of Merit is” so it seems to be assessment based. I know they weren’t doing formal shortlisting as I queried this when the assessment was originally sent out but putting people on the same number on the oom seems bizarre to me considering you could factor in shortlisting and give individual numbers then? On the note of the placement, myself and two others I know who are all under the same PO, one is the exact same unit as me, all got the exact same number on the oom so I don’t know if I’m watching too many detective shows but it just seems suss to me.

That's very common. Several people scored the same. I presume they probably then work through them alphabetically or by seniority or the like

just seems odd. One of them just told me they know of one of their friends got the same number too.

I'm also 74 OOM ... if we have a few of us with it on this thread imagine how many others have it too!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19 okeydokey72

If there are at least 3 of us on 74, one would imagine there is no one on 75 or 76 then. Makes sense to me but who knows.

Yeah I mean if 3 People scored the same and got top marks then I presume there are 3 at OOM 1, then the next best score would be at OOM 4 and so on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19 okeydokey72

Absolutely , otherwise 74 could be actually 200+ if there were 2 or 3 in each position on OOM.

My colleague is 75 and knows of 3 others at 75 too.

Has anyone who has done the interview found they stuck to the form and general questions ? My board is all TAC so wondering if they asked many audit geared questions?

    Hi,

So know the difference between leadership and management. Know how you would lead a team as opposed to managing one. Have a good example of a bad decision as that came up too as did questions around how to influence teams opposing changes and identifying weak staff members. Also how your personal and professional development would benefit your role and how you utilised training to enhance your team/unit.

Know how you would lead teams in a new unit or division and what you would do to lead a team in a completely new section.

There were questions around competencies but the questions above stuck out to me the most.

Pretty sure I reached my end point in this competition but if I can help anyone over the line it's totally worth it!

Good luck to all of you!

Thank you so much for your incite and best of luck in the competition.
