Signed up my son for collection with Play together carlow, from Educate Together - the primary school next door. He was due to attend for 1 hour per day in order to catch the bus home. He attended for half an hour on his first day, a Thursday to which I personally collected him as had no details of his bus information to send him home via bus. His second day, Friday I also had to collect him as received a phone call that he was still at the afterschool at 2.30pm when he should have been already on his bus home. The lady I received the phone call from, was nothing short of rude. Saying they had not received his bus information in time - which had been sent that morning. Upon my arrival to collect my son, I received the same rude response - in front of my autistic 5 year old son. Following on from this I received a phone call the following Monday morning to which I was informed, my son could no longer attend the facility as "he is a flight risk"!! This baffled not only myself but other's as when I applied for the 1 hour afterschool per day, the establishment was more than well informed of my son's difficulties including the one mentioned, that he was a flight risk!!! My son attended in total for less than 2 hour's & not once was I contacted on Thursday, Friday or over the weekend of any problems that had occurred!! I am not one to create problems or drama but this is something that I feel is highly unfair & unreasonable. As advised, I will be taking the matter further. If we ourselves don't stand up for the rights & inclusiveness for our children, who will!?

Playing devil's advocate, sending information in in the morning, is quite late for that afternoon. Staff would need more time than that to make arrangements- they aren't usually online during the day. I'd suggest you seek a meeting with the management and bring any documentation you have -including information previously submitted and see from there.
