Reviving my Boards

Today I re-entered my boards account after a long absence. I like to post on politics and current affairs, but now I find the following:

"Users will get posting privileges (both commenting on existing threads and creating new threads) once BOTH of the following conditions are met:

    1. The user has at least 50 posts
    2. The user has been a member of Boards for at least 7 days"

My question is, how can I "have at least 50 posts" if I do not have posting privileges? It seems a bit chicken and egg.

    Please advise.

Is it not 50 posts across the site?

the restriction only applies to specific forums like current affairs (edit, politics and radio too) as far as I know, and I think it only counts posts since the move to vanilla, could be wrong there

That is my understanding. I assume, and rightly to prevent new accounts from derailing/trolling etc.

So I have to put up 50 posts on other threads before I can comment on politics? I find that excessive and unreasonable. A dozen or so comments should be plenty.

Yes it may be that my older posts still count, I will give that a try. Otherwise, I may have to bow out again.

I'd expect it to allow you access. Do you not have the post comment/start thread buttons? If not, we can have that manually corrected.

How is a poster here since 2010 with over 1200 posts who can't post in a forum requiring them to have 50 posts and being a member for 7 days giving out? That's really going to help entice members who haven't been active for a while to come back.

Have you tried posting in CA and politics? You've been a member for 15 years and have 1380 posts. You meet the criteria.
