Joanna has officially started her campaign for the Park! She is live on RTE Radio 1 sounding quite clueless about what's required to run.

Egomaniac, she loves the attention and talking about herself. Avoid.

Just wants to stay in the limelight

    Nothing like aiming high.

Tough entering a field with two strong female candidates already nominated.

She reminds me of Liz Truss.

Like Truss, she should go away now

Someone close to her needs to have a quiet word with her. She is going to make a fool of herself.

Only meteorologist in the race so far though

I was prepared to let her rather public spat with Met E go, but she can't help herself now. Must be about her.

    Another leftist...

She's not an ambi-turner. I remember seeing a few forecasts where she had to point out something in the Atlantic and she was having difficulty doing it. She can't turn right

I think in the case of this election

"you don't need a weather woman to know which way the wind blows"

    (after Bob Dylan)

Will she make Met Eireann re employ her as her 1st act as president?

Blame it on the weather, man

She has really overestimated her popularity. I'm not sure what credentials she possesses for the role of president. It will be interesting to hear why she thinks she would make a good president. I doubt she will get the required number of TDs or councils so support her anyway.

This whole contest/election is just ridiculous at this point.

Not one of them is someone worth voting for.

Surely she is aware of this. Just another desperate attempt to keep her name in the media. Utter narcissist.

    **** off.

Absolutely scarlet to the bones for all belonging to her.

Never heard of her so I just googled her. A weather forecaster. She hasn't a hope.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,218 ✭✭✭Burt Renaults

Don't think anyone could've forecast this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,303 ✭✭✭Rubberchikken

I hope she isn't serious. What a tool.

Is she trying to bring the position of president of ireland diwn to base level?

A hot air balloon would look tiny if placed next to that ego.

I've a keen interest in the weather so quite familiar with her over the years. I never liked her forecasts, always got the impression that it was more about her than the weather.

The article she wrote for the Indo confirmed that impression. Then the interview on Newstalk, sweet jesus I still can't believe she utttered the words "my public"....

That little girl who apparently stopped her on the street after storm Ophelia and thanked her for saving her dad and grandad's lives has a lot to answer for...

Edit: spelling, and to clarify the little girl sent her a letter it was other people who stopped her on the street thanking her.

Will she wink at us, I wonder?

    Not your ornery onager

She must have a good agent, she has hardly been out of the Indo website since she retired from doing the weather.

She is the main story on the website tonight. Forget Ukraine, Gaza, murdered kids, cost of living, record homeless numbers, Joanna is running for pres.

The position is quickly turning into a comedy spot. Gone are the times of statesmen and women, its now the celebs who want it. Its probably the way the world is going I suppose.

In fairness though as someone who has a keen interest in the weather you probably agree that good forecasting does save lives.

It won't be enough to get her to the Park though .

"I have a feeling that the whole world is going to say, 'the absolute audacity of this one'."

    She certain nailed that forecast.

Yes good forecasting saves lives, as someone on the west coast with many fishermen in the previous generation of my family I know that all too well.

But the person delivering the forecast to camera isn't necessarily the person who did the forecasting, and if they did have a part in putting the forecast together it certainly wasn't on their own.

This person when you read interviews she has given about it makes it sound like she single handedly saved the country from Ophelia. Just Google her name and Ophelia.

Come on, there's no need to rain on her parade.

I have reason myself to be grateful for good forecasting.

I just wanted to put it on record that forecasting is indeed a serious business.

Nothing to do with the personality of the forecaster.

    She hasn't a hope anyway.
