I've no doubt at all that this will be allowed to happen. It's just a macro-level version of the hand wringing that goes on here, Israel can't do any wrong apparently, even up to and including possible genocide.

I was listening to a pro Israeli American on Piers Morgan a while back he was paving the way for this by saying we should allow Palestinians to leave Gaza if they want to. So the narrative from pro Israelis will be that there is no forced displacement at all- they'll all go willingly- that's how it will be sold and the craven EU will go along with it. As I have said previously If Israel dropped a Nuke on Gaza, Huckabee and others would be blaming others for forcing Israel to do it. Sir Keir would be calling for restraint and saying Israel risked breaking international law. It might all sound far fetched, but it's clear to Nethanyu with Donnie on side he can do whatever he wants. This is the same Donnie that joked about the urgent need to stop the War in Ukraine so he has a chance at getting into heaven.

If the dystopian plan is executed, there will be Palestinians who will be ethnically cleansed.

Palestinians own that land and I've read multiple reports that they have no desire to be moved on.

No more than those in Ireland who own land - its not just ownership that matters. There is culture, heritage, family and work life wrapped around that ownership. There are (were) thriving communities. Certainly those living there for decades and relatives before them make it lot more than just owning title deeds.

So this dystopian plan will simply validate Genocide and show that nothing has been learned since the 1940s. Its an abomination of a plan.

And, imagine if this plan was put forward for Israel…

    Utterly desperate in Gaza.

Israel sticking two fingers up to the world and to Israelis as well.

Israeli attacks have killed at least 98 people in the past 24 hours as Israel pushed tanks deeper into Gaza City and detonated explosives-laden vehicles in one suburb, Palestinian officials and witnesses have said.

It comes as the president of the world's leading genocide scholars' association said it had passed a resolution saying the legal criteria have been met to establish that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

‘Norway’s sovereign wealth fund has just divested from five Israeli banks and from Caterpillar, the US construction equipment manufacturer that supplies Israel with bulldozers to destroy Palestinian property in Gaza and the West Bank. The fund held stakes in 38 Israeli companies as of 14 August, and has not promised to divest in all cases, only to review potential human rights violations. The Spanish government is aiming to pass a full arms embargo against Israel, with Pedro Sánchez, the prime minister, under pressure to recall the country’s ambassador in Tel Aviv. These moves are progressive compared with other EU governments, but lag years behind public opinion.’

    The "liberal democracy" at work

"Attorneys have been barred from visiting Israeli prisons to meet with their Palestinian clients due to accusations of 'transmitting information,' and guards have demanded to read legal documents. During the war in Gaza, the Israel Prison Service has made the lawyers targets as it tries to keep what's happening at the prisons under wraps"

Abu Obeida, the spokesman for Hamas's armed wing, has been killed in an aerial attack in Gaza City, Israel has said.

Another senior Hamas leader now worm food, not at all surprising he was hiding in a built up civilian area, using ordinary Palestinians as human shields.

Do you actually care about "ordinary", noting you don't use the word innocent, Palestinians? Yes or not will suffice.

Welcome back Francie. Yes. I read that yesterday. If he was hiding among civilians , he and others should know by now it offers no safety at all- as we know from past instances your IDF friends are quite happy to kill 50 civilians to kill a single Hamas member

With this in mind can you tell me why Israel has military facilities in built up areas of Tel Aviv, one of which is close to a hospital. Seeing as your consistent in your condemnation of using human shields, you'd no doubt be heavily critical of Israel for doing so in the event of a strike targetting one of these facilities killing scores of civilians in the process. You wouldn't hold the attacker responsible for killing scores of civilians if their aim was to target senior IDF figures inside the building.

Funnily enough, there's two alleged War Criminals on the run in Israel - also hiding in a built up civilian area.

The Global Sumud Flotilla—the largest civilian mission to break Gaza’s siege—launches today, with 50+ ships from 44 countries. Drop Site editor Alex Colston is on board and will be reporting live as it sails from Barcelona toward Gaza.

Israel demanded the Red Cross be allowed visit the hostages in Gaza whilst they have refused, for years, visits by the Red Cross/Red Crescent to Palestinian detainees for years.

    Utter hypocrites.

Tell me was it like this?

    Or like this?

Or maybe like the day the Israeli's used a 13 year old as a human shield?

We've had 23 months of denials and deflections about the Israeli Genocide in Gaza. Many here, including me, have been accused of being "Jew haters", "Antisemitic" and "Hamas supporters" for even mentioning Genocide.

Well, seems leading Genocide Scholars agree - Israel is committing Genocide in Gaza.

For those who denied and deflected, the writing is on the wall. You denied it, some justified it. You should hang your collective heads in shame.

All that remains now is the ICJ ruling.

Note - this is the BBC report that reflects reporting from RTE earlier today.

The world's leading association of genocide scholars has declared that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. A resolution passed by the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) states that Israel's conduct meets the legal definition as laid out in the UN convention on genocide. Across a three-page resolution, the IAGS presents a litany of actions undertaken by Israel throughout the 22-month-long war that it recognises as constituting genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The Zio bots are already out in force denying everything. There is literally nothing that would dissuade them, not even their messiah Netanyahu ending up behind bars for war crimes.

Millions of people, all over the World, understand now that Israel is outdoing the Nazis in the level of genocide that they are commiting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,478 ✭✭✭Miniegg

I don't think any one of them feel an ounce of shame for their posts over the last couple of years tbh, genocide ruling or no.

That crowd are simply happy a people they hate are being owned (i.e. massacred) by a country that they believe represents them in doing this - where those people be Palestinians, or what they see as the "left".

It doesn't matter that this country they see as representative of them is systematically murdering babies and children - this "owning" makes them feel like the big men, so they will support it all.

All the other things they put forward - the horseshit accusations, the slander, the nonsense, is a thinly veiled smokescreen to give their evil machinations an illusion of legitimacy.

This finding will register with them for sure, but they won't care - they already all knew this was happening. Why else would they refuse to engage on logical questions regarding the conflict, or go quiet when the hypocritical arguments they are making are exposed? They know well what's happening alright.

These are the equivalent of the fascist sympathisers and virulent Jew haters around Europe during the holocaust. Gazans will continue to be killed, and these guys will keep pumping out the bulls*it - it won't matter a jot what genocide ruling comes down.

Most of them appear to be authoritarians and rigid in their thinking. Psychologists have suggested it's very difficult to debate with an authoritarian as they are closed minded and inflexible and not willing to try and 'see things from the other side'…….everything is black and white in their worldview and not open to debate.

Israel wants to do its dirty deeds in the dark

Starry: On Monday, Israeli news site Ynet reported that IDF chief Eyal Zamir had cautioned the security cabinet on the implications of their intention to take over Gaza without post-war plans.

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/9/1/israeli-forces-kill-pregnant-woman-and-unborn-baby-in-gaza-city-assault

“You are heading to a military government,” Zamir reportedly told a meeting of the Israeli security cabinet late on Sunday. “Your plan is leading us there. Understand the implications”.

Starry: ^ It’s a contradiction to PM Netanyahu saying they want an Arab civilian government.

    See below:

Lorenzo Tondo in Jerusalem and agencies, Thu 7 Aug 2025

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/aug/07/benjamin-netanyahu-talks-full-gaza-occupation-aid-agencies-hostages

“We don’t want to keep it. We want to have a security perimeter,” Netanyahu said. “We want to hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly without threatening us and giving Gazans a good life.”

"In the Fox interview, Netanyahu suggested that Israel did not want to keep the territory. "We don't want to govern it," he said. "We don't want to be there as a governing body. We want to hand it over to Arab forces."

Starry: HAILED AS A “LANDMARK INTERVENTION” FROM THE 500-MEMBER INTERNATIONAL BODY OF GENOCIDE EXPERTS IN INTERNATIONAL LAW

The International Association of Genocide Scholars has made an official pronouncement that the Israeli war on Gaza meets the legal definition of genocide.

‘Israel committing genocide in Gaza, scholars group says’
‘Leading genocide scholars formally declare that Israel’s war on Gaza meets the UN’s definition of genocide.’
    1 Sep 2025
    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/9/1/israel-committing-genocide-in-gaza-scholars-group-says

“The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS), a 500-member body of academics founded in 1994, passed a resolution on Monday, stating that Israel’s policies and actions in Gaza fulfil the definition of genocide set out in the 1948 United Nations Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.”

Starry: The four Geneva Conventions I, II, III and IV of 1949 (sic), and their additional protocols, form the core part of International Humanitarian law (IHL). They are also known as Laws of War governing the conduct of armed conflict.

These international treaties limit the means and methods of warfare. For example, the National Zionism government’s military strategy of starvation as a weapon of war... The blockade of aid to Gaza is a war crime.

IHL outlines a crystal clear framework governing the conduct of armed conflict, in particular to protect women and children.

In essence, IHL is the core part of the rules of warfare.

    Thank you, purplesnack.

The Ditch Media outlet exposed that the Central Bank approved Israeli War Bonds on 2 September 2023 [sic]. These bonds are being used to fund Israel’s war on Palestine.
    https://www.centralbank.ie/regulation/industry-market-sectors/securities-markets/prospectus-regulation/prospectuses/state-of-israel---bond-issuance-programme

'Current geopolitical situation': Central Bank briefed media team on potential scrutiny of Israeli war bonds
    Apr 25, 2025
    https://www.ontheditch.com/current-geopolitical-situation/

    ....
‘Not restricted by an upper amount’

"In correspondence sent 20 August, the Central Bank of Ireland detailed how Israeli sovereign bonds, marketed to support Israel’s assault on Gaza, had no restrictions on the total sum that could be raised."

This was a great debate by the opposition:
Dáil Éireann debate - Wednesday, 11 Jun 2025
    Vol. 1068 No. 5
Ending the Central Bank’s Facilitation of the Sale of Israel Bonds: Motion [Private Members]
    https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/debate/dail/2025-06-11/9/

    Deputy Mairéad Farrell (Sinn Fein)

I commend the Social Democrats on introducing this important motion. Representatives of the Central Bank will appear before the finance committee today to explain its position on why there has been no action on these bonds. Therefore, this motion is timely. Thus far the Central Bank has refused to reject the prospectuses submitted for these Israeli war bonds. Its reasons not to act have been somewhat of a movable feast. Previously, the Governor of the Central Bank told us that these were not war bonds and were instead being used for general financing purposes. Thanks to reporting by The Ditch, we learned that potential investors were being informed that the best way to serve Israel and support Israel's war effort was to buy these bonds.

The Central Bank's contention is that it has only two grounds to refuse a prospectus: the imposition of EU sanctions; and what it refers to as national restrictive measures. If a state is a signatory to the Genocide Convention, which is codified in Irish law through the 1973 Act and which makes complicity in genocide an offence, does that not constitute a national restrictive measure? If it does not, I do not know what actually does. The Central Bank and the Government are using these arguments. My colleague Seán Crowe put it correctly there: if we do not act now, when will we ever act?

I think the moral authority of the west (excepting a few countries like Ireland, Spain and Slovenia) as a region that supports human rights is being destroyed in the Muslim world because of the failure to sanction Israel or even halt arms sales.

Polls show many western governments are out of touch with voters in this conflict, especially in UK and Germany. In UK, France and Germany support for Israel in a poll mentioned in The Guardian in June ranged from 13-20%. Parallels with public opinion against the Iraq war when some governments like the Aznar government in Spain were supporting it, despite 90% of Spaniards opposing it. The current Spanish government is in touch with public opinion on Gaza.

I think the West is better for human rights internally though. Developments in the US are a cause of concern though.

I suspect that some of this is because of US pressure though. This especially matters because if the unfortunate fact that the Gaza war is going on at the same time as the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Belgian government has said it will officially recognise the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly this month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 135 ✭✭purplesnack

While this is welcome, it's a pity that these countries are only recognising the state of Palestine when that state is near destruction. While much of the focus is on the terrorists' genocide of the Gazan people, the Palestinians in the West Bank continue to be forcibly displaced. Unless these israeli acts of terrorism are stopped, what is going to be left of Palestine to recognise?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,580 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

That's it. As that wench in the West Bank interviewed by Theroux and Morgan boasted, as critics offer words of condemnation, we create facts on the ground. What does the lack of concrete action against Israel say to children about the world we live in.
