Make sure we only use VVD and Konate when we absolutely have to then.

A combination of Leoni, Joe and Endo for domestic cups and hopefully some CL games

I think it's the buying club who submit the deal sheet. By submitting it before 7 it gave Liverpool 2 more hours to get the deal over the line.

Yeah, regarding him not sticking around long. That's why I'm surprised Parish has pulled the plug on it when he's been vocal all summer that they need to cash in on Guehi.

Maybe they were hoping there would be more of a bidding war.

That's what they were hoping for but they accepted the same as what Liverpool offered when officials met at the charity shield game 4 weeks ago.

Parish is a well experienced chairman he should know when the PL champions coming knocking and the player wants it, that's the only offer you will be accepting, even if others are willing to pay more. That's when you get your replacement in.

All handedly horribly by Parish, all on him. The buck stops with Glasner if there results nosedive so I've no issue with him digging in, I'd do the same.

It's tough on the player, Liverpool might never come back or he could suffer a bad injury in the next game. It's why I've said players should push for moves to further their careers like Isak and wissa. Your only a pawn to these clubs.

In fairness to Parrish they didn't know what European competition they were going to be in till 2 weeks ago so couldn't budget properly. If they knew they were straight into the group stages of the Europa they could have sorted a replacement earlier. Because they had to play a qualifier Thursday they couldn't plan in advance.

Guehi was probably the most important deal to get over the line, unfortunately it looks like Palace, Glasner in particular weren't prepared to let him go, think the same will happen in January if Glasner is still there. A lot can change in the next few months and over the season, so no guarantee that he'll end up at Liverpool. As others have said the players who kicked up a fuss got their moves, the guy that did everything right got screwed over, which tends to happen very often in normal life too.

Palace aren't winning a league title either way.

I think you're being harsh on CP.

They didn't unconditionally tell him he could go. They told him he could go providing the lad from Brighton that they'd lined up signed but when that lad had his head turned by West Ham CP had no choice but to pull the plug and Guehi has been pure class in how he's responded i.e. no throwing toys out of the pram etc. That's the sort of character we want at the club.

We waited for VVD, we can wait for Guehi.

CP dropped the ball here by not having Guehi's replacement properly lined up but even then we'll never know the full details, maybe they had a number of players shortlisted and just couldn't get them?

This could be great opportunity for Leoni to step up and we still have Gomez so it's not like we're threadbare. We've 4 CBs (plus Endo) to cover 2 spots until Xmas.

I'll eat my hat if Glasner is still at Palace in January, he'll jump to a bigger ship when the chance comes.

Guehi, or rather a CB ready to go, to me was the more critical deal to get done now. It's not done, so we move on.

Guehi may regret it from a personal POV though, the second chance doesn't always come, and he could be sitting as an old man with his FA cup medal and 20 England caps wondering what might have been. I suppose, he might get Palace to finish 8th rather than 11th this year by staying.

Your point above is well made though....clubs generally don't give two fvcks about players once they are under contract. If players don't look after themselves they will get royally fvcked over by clubs. Not every club deals like Edwards and acts quickly to get a good deal for the outgoing club and player

Is Glasner making sure Palace have a defence before he leaves not more admirable than letting Guehl go cos "fuxk it - I won't be here"?

Guehi's goodbye video to CP has been leaked.

I have no doubt he'll knuckle down, put in the shift his club needs from him but very shabby treatment of him by Palace IMHO

Isak was by a long shout the most important deal for Liverpool to get over the line. Ive been looking at your bench lately, and that young 16 year old and Chiesa seem to be the only forward options. Added to the fact that Salah is not on it as of yet, and Ekitike is relatively unproven. Liverpool needed something up top.

Your centre half options are the same as what won you the title. Only difference is Quansah (who played very little) has been replaced.

Liverpool will strengthen eventually in defence, but getting your forwards options sorted, after losing so many. Was the huge priority.

Went on to the Newcastle Reddit page out of morbid curiosity. Some crazy stuff on there. I was devastated when Torres left us but don't remember being that spiteful. Some horrific comments on him. Hope he bags a hat trick against them.

As the last 3 weeks have shown us, Szob can play CB and be boss there if needed too.

Play Palace in a few weeks, may be he can fire in an own goal for us for his first Liverpool goal!

Buyback and sell on included in the Elliot deal.

That is some amount of money recouped in sales

Ah come on now. The Liverpool fan base was extremely toxic around the Torris departure. The man claimed he got death threats for god sake....most clubs would react the same around controversial big name departures. Liverpool are no different.
