Anyone using Sons.ie ultimate pack for hair growth?

    I am looking for feedback.

    Thanks

ForHims.co.uk prescriptions can't be sent to Ireland any more is that right?

Found this, so perhaps it's changing later

I am considering Sons.ie for their oral Fin and topical minox package.

I use their oral fin. It’s cheap buying direct from them. As for its effectiveness I’m not sure, it’s a very big company so I assume it’s legit. Currently shedding from it I believe ….

Yes, they seem to be the cheapest. I checked Chemist Warehouse who are selling Finasteride 1mgx 28 tabs for 26 euros.

    Have you noticed any improvement?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,254 ✭✭✭EltonJohn69

I would say around the same, it felt like I was improving, less hair fall, but then I increased the dosage form .5 to 1mg and it feels like I have been shedding for months.

You shampoo your hair at around day 4 by just gently patting on shampoo and rinsing off with a jug of water. On around day 11 then you can gently rub the shampoo with your fingers to loosen up the scabs. By day 14 all my scabs had come off. As regards sleeping, you sleep fairly upright with a neck pillow. I moved to the couch after 2 nights and found it great as there was no headboard behind me so I wasn't afraid to put my head back and made it so much easier

Around 2 months from the initial consultation to your transplant. All depends on availability of course. There was only a certain window with work that I could get it done and I let them know and they accommodated me. They were so helpful.

Yes landing strip is just the strip down the middle, I needed very little there and mostly concentrated on my crown and a few areas that were gone thin

By way of update I am day 19 post procedure today and fully recovered. I had prp exosomes done yesterday to speed to the process done again at Grow Club. I had heard it was a very painful treatment but to be fair it wasn't that bad at all and I'm happy I got it done.

You will always shed first when starting fin. You're basically starting from scratch with hair growth. The hair you have will shed a bit before the new hairs begin to grow. It's all about sticking with the process and always allow around 6 months before you start to see a difference

I am using topical Min + Fin every alternate day now due to short supply and lack of delivery from HimsUK. I noticed that the hair density is getting less and you can see the individual hair threads.

Most likely I need to go to Sons Ireland and switch to oral Fin.

Anyone on fin only? At 6 month mark and thinking of topical minoxidl.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,254 ✭✭✭EltonJohn69

apparently it takes at least a year before results, sometime two years….. I’m less than a year and I am thinking about oral minox at some point or maybe just go straight for the HT

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,239 ✭✭✭HBC08

Oral minoxidil is definitely more effective than topical. However that comes at a bit of a price.Ive had lots of unpleasant sides with oral, palpitations, dizziness etc.

It is after all a blood pressure medication, increased body hair is actually listed as a side effect when taking it for blood pressure. The recommended dose is 5mg but I take half that. Its much handier taking a pill as the topical is messy but I'm thinking about going back to topical to get rid of side effects.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,254 ✭✭✭EltonJohn69

yeah I am definitely hesitant about taking it, maybe a HT is just the safer/easier option

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,239 ✭✭✭HBC08

I would definitely have minoxidil in your regime even after HT but maybe just use topical,I used it for years.

It's more of a hassle and not as effective but I think it's safer.

I am surrounded by multiple cats, I don’t want to take the risk with topical, I would never be forgiven.

I've been taking oral minoxidil for about 4 years now and the side effects have been marginal. Some minor palpitations on two or three separate occasions during the first 2 weeks then nothing since. Slight increase in body hair on my forearms and thighs, but it's so minimal it honestly took me until about year 3 to really notice. My wife doesn't see a difference anyway.

I do bloods every year, and results have also come back fine.

Each to their own on whether to take it or not, and everyone's experience and level of comfort is different. But for me, oral finasteride and oral minoxidil are about giving myself the best shot at retaining the hair I’ve got.

what dose did you go with ? where did you get it form, I see HRBR sell it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 482 ✭✭Jay Pentatonic

1.25mg. I'm prescribed 5mg (for both fin and minox) and use a pill cutter to cut them into quarters. I take minox daily and fin 3 times per week.

I get it from Dr. Nel. I haven't looked into HRBR for years, but all I remember is they're expensive and if memory serves me right they wanted me to pay the consultation fee 2 weeks before my appointment, which put me off.

I see Sons are now selling oral minoxidil 2.5mg for €30 a month, though they are offering discounts. I will probably get on it next year, though some what concerned about how it interacts with Cialis… might have to visit the doctor before taking it.

Apparently Ireland has the best hair surgeon in the world, I think they are talking about the guy at HRBR

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 272 ✭✭BigProblem

file that under b*llsh*t and throw tubridy in too!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,254 ✭✭✭EltonJohn69

he does seem to have a bad reputation on boards… though a few minor celebrities have got work done with him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,239 ✭✭✭HBC08

The few minor celebs have had it done for free with the condition that they promote the clinic.

The likes of Marty whelan,Bryan Robson and Pat Nevin!

I think he is a decent surgeon,he's definitely the best option in Ireland. Before Covid I was in touch with them......10e a graft. You can get the very best in the world, like Hollywood/footballer elite best for cheaper than that.

I didn't watch the clip and don't know it was was tubridy or Adam who said this. What I do know is it's bullsh1t and wouldn't be taking advise from either of them on this.

Note,I'm a big Adam Buxton fan,I listen to his pod regularly. Recently he's talked about hairloss and how it's bothering him.He refuses to use minoxidil as he's afraid the sides,I think he has it mixed up with finesteride. He's not properly informed on these issues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,254 ✭✭✭EltonJohn69

Interesting, so you rate him over Dr. Nel ? Just exorbitant price ? I will be going HT in Ireland.
Yeah Adam Buxton is great, he seems to be talking about his hair loss a lot of late, I suppose he was lucky to avoid it being an issue for him for so long though.

Maurice Collins is streets ahead of Dr Nel.

As I always say,how many people are flying to Ireland to see Dr Nel? Obviously I don't have the figures but my guess would be zero. Then contrast that with the numbers travelling from all over the world to see Hasson,Wong, Bisanga,Couto,Ferrera etc.

Blackrock clinic and Dr Collins do a very good job from what I can see. However they aren't considered along side the names I mentioned above yet are more expensive than some of them.
