I'm sorry but that's just bad parenthood. You should be bating Munster into him 😜😜😜

I don't disagree......I'm looking at my options, the wife says he's too young to be disowned / move out...

I keep buying him Munster gear as a brainwashing attempt.

Keep an eye on Ulster rugby site, they'll sell fairly quickly you can usually pick up tickets once they go on sale

What a win today by Munster women's team, absolutely hammered Leinster. Great for the club and game.

Missed the game but saw the scoreline a few times throughout the game and it was almost unbelievable

I was watching YouTube last night and as I was about to exit the App I saw a short clip from Munster Rugby about the recent open training day in Ennis. Obviously there was a focus on Tony & Ethan and one of them mentioned about the memories they had was a B&I game that was played there.

It's a shame that the competition died a death and that Munster has started to play their InterPros in Musgrave Park, I can see why they do but there's a negative too. I remember heading off to clubs around the province watching B&I cup games and they always attracted a huge group of underage fans that miss out on what Ethan or Tony experienced that day in Ennis

total shame. ive brought it up in different places and may even try get an official response somewhere. Its not like surface is a factor either with same surface in Nenagh, Fethard and few other venues around the province.

    Goals for this season?

    Basic goals:
Start the season with a few wins
Make playoffs in Euro and URC
    Blood in some new/young players
    Maintain a Home winning record

    Bonus goals:
Secure a home round of 16 in Euros
    Secure a home URC quarter-final

    Stretch goals:
    Make a Euro semi-final
    Make a URC final

Looks to be only 40 odd single tickets in the stands left for the Gloucester game. Sold very well so far in fairness.

I wouldnt worry about having to start season with wins Id be more concerned with performances/gow Munster are set yp to play the stronger/bigger sides

We'll always be blooding players. Its more specific positions Munster need players.

there were some good suggestions a few pages back. Some one suggested a variation of Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels.

Stocked Locks and 2 smoking Barrons or was it Locks Stocked and 2 smoking Barrons.

were none of them liked by the Mods?

Given our poor starts to seasons in recent campaigns, and that we are away to Scarlets, Home to Cardiff Home to Edinburgh, I would expect three wins from three to be a legitimate goal.
Munster needs to figure out where it has gone wrong in the past, and we really need to get wins against those teams, which I would consider will be in the middle of the table by the end of the season, i.e. our direct competition.

Might I suggest a choice between:

Munster Team Talk Thread - Lineouts Sorted: Locks Stocked and Two Throwing Barrons

Munster Team Talk Thread - Lineouts Sorted: Locks Stocked and Two Hooking Barrons

I prefer the latter of those two choices personally.

Or of course, keep other suggestions coming.

    Or simplify above to:

Munster Team Talk Thread - Locks Stocked and Two Smoking/Hooking/Throwing Barrons
Whatever word is best before Barrons.

Yes but wouldnt worry if we dont start fast/well. As said would be more concerned with how Munster play rather than results.

Did the world cup have any effect on the score line do you think? Presumably the WIRFU have taken much of the Leinster team to England… Still better to have the win than to have the loss under these conditions

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,011 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Its just IRFU no WIRFU red.

of course world cup had a major effect on the interpro series as a whole. 30+ of top players were not involved because theyre at the world cup.

What I mean is did it have a bigger effect on the Leinster squad than the other 3 provinces.

Fully agree, and not taking away from the brilliant win, hence the last part of my comment

Wiggy appointed to coach in Japan.

Japan Rugby League One outfit Urayasu D-Rocks have confirmed the appointment of former Munster boss Graham Rowntree

Thought he was good for Munster. No idea what happened behind the scenes. Wish him all the best.

    Goals/Hopes for the season

Ahern to step up & permanently nail a starting spot & become a leader.

Gleeson & Quinn: substantially more game time & see can they cut it at this level.

Crowley to boss things a bit more & work with a dedicated kicking coach & improve his %'s

Become more consistent, esp against what is perceived to be weaker opposition.

Pray that nothing happens Beirne & more importantly any tight head we have.

    NIce to have:

    a quality Tight head signing

Edogbo to get a decent run of minutes injury free for the season.

    A consistently functioning line out

the break down of the squad is:

    Leinster 9

    Connacht 6

    Munster 5

    Ulster 4

    Exiles (playing off shore) 8

There are some players like Scuffil-McCabe and Edel McMahon that are listed as provincial players but are playing off shore so ive included them as part of the off shore contingent.

How new and young players are brought into the team will be very interesting.

There’s really a lot of competition in the backs, loads of quality centres, wingers and fullbacks.

I’ve no idea how good Kelly or Gibbons are as centre options, and O’Brien has been outstanding as centre and wing cover. Nankivell and Farrell are the incumbents but who knows how it will go if the others get opportunities.

Wingers wise we’re spoiled for choice. Nash and Kilgallen perhaps first choice, but Daly, Abrahams, Smith and McCarthy could all push for a spot.

Haley will be under pressure too at fullback with Abrahams, Daly and O’Connor all capable substitutes, possibly McCarthy another option.

I think Outhalf is perfectly balanced, we have an established international with an experienced backup and a young understudy, as well as two talented academy 10’s also.

Scrumhalf we have an established international and two very similarly talented nippy scrum halves, as well as another one in the academy, if we adopt a rapid distribution from the 9 we’ll certainly have a few players to implement that.

The forwards are a bit more untested, there are a lot of young players that need opportunities.
To name just a few, Gleeson, Quinn, the Edogbo brothers, O’Connell - these could all be future internationals in the making.
The question is, how do they get game time? Which matches and how many per 23.
