Episodes 4 & 5 are top notch. They need to keep this quality going.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,604 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

    Agreed. Big improvement.

They need to reign in the plotholes though.

Has Dexter mentioned Rita's kids in this or the last season? Just when he talked about life after Rita and not mentioning them.

I don't mind the Harrison bits apart from the stuff with the girl. Just not needed.

So was it the other one that was watching in the shop. thought was Ponytail as the shape looked bigger.

Haven't watch Dexter since the end of the main series which has to one of the worst final seasons of any show I've watched. But I am really enjoying this one, great to get the cameos of old cast members like Doakes and John Lithgow reprising his role as The Trinity Killer plus seeing Joey Quinn & Masuka make an appearance its like the good old days of Dexter. The writing is pretty good and I can excuse some of the plot holes. I've a feeling he might have to kill off Batista to protect Harrison.

Anyway this weeks trailer for episode 6.

I really enjoyed Episode 6. A wonderful twist at the end.

Spoiler: Theres a twist at the end.

I really wonder how they are going to get another season or more out of it. It seems clear Angel is very much on the hunt for Dexter and Harrison. Angel, one of the best characters not just in this show but frankly in any show may not be long for this world if he keeps this up.

I find the Autistic or Aspergers Syndrome detective very tiresome. Surely the "Detective being on the spectrum" has been done to death by now?? Detective Monk, the Detective in The Bridge, the Detective in The Tunnel, various incarnations of Sherlock Holmes over the years which suggested he was on some spectrum or another.

Speaking of the detective, can we expect to see the New York Ripper? Mentioned both with her and the weapon among the collection.

That was a great episode I think we know who might be the New York Ripper after that episode. Great ending..

Episode 6 was a bit of a come down after the last 2 episodes, which were terrific. Harrison's single mother friend is unnecessary, the lead detective is terrible (very hard to understand her too) and Blessing, Dexter's landlord and new best friend, is just painful to watch - definitely the worst actor in the history of Dexter. He makes Michael C. Hall a bad actor when he's around too, because it's so ludicrous that Dex is suddenly great friends with this guy he met a couple of weeks previously, and Hall looks lost acting opposite him. It does feel like the writers wanted to shoehorn in a wonderful immigrant family, given the madness with ICE in America at the moment, but Blessing is just woeful (the other actors in his family are fine.) I actually have to forward his scenes. Hopefully he turns out to be the New York Ripper, just to give him some reason to be in the show: a family man who blends in better than Dex and Trinity!

I was thinking exactly the same last night! When we saw Blessed lose his temper, my first thought was, he has a dark side.

I saw on YouTube earlier some fan theories about Blessing being the New York Ripper - didn't bother watching them though. I would genuinely be impressed if the writers went that direction, but I don't think they have the balls to do it: all the psychopaths and killers have to be the white people, and all the ethnic people are saints . Gotta love liberal Hollywood and their white guilt 😂

I think that they made a mistake getting rid of Lady Vengeance so quickly too. She really elevated the show and had good chemistry with Dex. She'll be missed.

It's funny that the season will soon be over and Uma Thurman has done nothing so far. Dinklage too has barely been in it. It's like they shot all their scenes for the entire season in a single day and then rationed them out throughout the season! Bit odd to cast such high profile actors and then give them barely anything to do. Instead we get pointless scenes with Harrison and his single mom friend; Blessing and his family; and the detectives that couldn't find their own arses, never mind a killer.

When Dex was in the helicopter and the other car arrived, I fully expected lady Vengeance to step out of the car. The actual twist was brilliant and I didn't see it coming, but I'll be very disappointed if that is the last we see of her.

Can people please clarify what plot holes they mean?

I thought Dexter should have remained dead in New blood. This whole thing is dragging the **** out of it.

They should have cast the actor in original sin as Harrison and carried on from there

Can people please clarify what plot holes they mean?

    1. Why did Dex give Angel the slip from the hospital, having just heard that Maria La Guerta had told Angel about her theory about Dex being the Bay Harbour Butcher. Doing that just confirmed to Angel he was on to something.
    2. One minute Dex is struggling to walk six feet with the aid of a physiotherapist, and then the next minute he's climbing out of the window in the hospital.
    3. I really dont think a busy New York Hotel's kitchen is ever empty of people. Many don't ever close. Even in Ireland ive stayed in hotels where the kitchen was running through the night. I dont find it believable that Harrison had enough time to dismember Ryan in the Kitchen and clean up.
    4. However, the biggest plot hole for me, is that Billionaire Peter Dinklage and his resourceful assistant Uma Thurman have figured out Red's address, broken into his apartment, found his trophies, made a copy of his thumb print - but don't have a picture of him. Therefore allowing Dex to impersonate him. Completely unbelieveable.

I think Dexter and I will partcompany after this season . The older Dexter. Michael C Hall. I don't like the actor playing Harrison. So no future there for me.

It's gone on too long and is way way beyond credibility.

I will plough on with original sin though.

ah, it's a show about a serial killer killing serial killers. I'd be more shocked if there weren't glaring plot holes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,428 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

I am enjoying this season and hope we get a season 2. Just not sure what story line they could come up with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,604 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

The first season of Dexter was very light on plotholes. Then with the glaringly obvious one in Season 2 things just went to ****.

I am guessing we will see the new York ripper in the last episode and Dexter will be hunting him in the next season.

Edit meant to quote Snake Plisken.

Anyone have any theories on what Angel's fate is going to be?

It's not looking good for him whatever they decide.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,540 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Dexter won't kill him but I'm unsure if he'll try to save him. He'll track Dexter to the next dinner and so won't be allowed to leave, but it will also likely expose Dexter's real identity.

    That's my theory.

Or maybe Dex will kill him in front of the others to protect his identity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,428 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

No I don't think Dexter will kill him maybe Harrison will to protect his Dad.

Another excellent episode! Great final scene

Anyone else feel that the 2 New York cops very quickly and conveniently jumped to a conclusion that Angel was making things up? That scene really rang false for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61 ✭✭DexterMorgansGhost

I think Angel is going to end up in a padded cell screaming at walls that Dexter is the Bay Harbour Butcher.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,604 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Unfortunately, you are wrong. Though your idea would have been a more fitting end.

Anyone else feel that the 2 New York cops very quickly and conveniently jumped to a conclusion that Angel was making things up? That scene really rang false for me.

It did ring false with me too. I can't help now wonder if those two detectives are on Praetor's payroll.

Edit: Come to think of it, that probably is it.

If I was a billionaire and i was collecting serial killers, I'd want a couple of cops a, watching out for a new one, and b, watching the back of some of my "collection".

Unfortunately, it is a 10 episode run.

I have enjoyed the last 4-5 episodes. It is a pity.

Hopefully it does mean a second season though.
