I believe the 1965 succession act was amended around 6 years ago or so - so yes you can get 50% of estate where there are no children - but you forfeit the right to the murdered deceased 50% .

“The legal right share can be lost where the spouse or civil partner is:

    • convicted of the murder, manslaughter or attempted murder of the deceased person
    • convicted of an offence against the deceased person or a child that carries a sentence of more than 2 years”

@OscarMadison: thanks for that, that's some good news. So knowing this is it right the property goes completely to the next of kin of Tina, which would be her mother?

Well 50% of the proceeds of the estate would go to her next of kin - Satchwell would still get 50% to spend on junk food in the prison tuck shop.

The 1965 succession act covered property other than that held in joint tenancy - this loophole was closed about 5-6 years ago I believe - thus he can no longer benefit from Tina’s estate

I’m not familiar with what relations of Tina are alive - if mother, father- it would go to them first- if not then sisters, then cousins etc

In reality, who is going to buy that house?! Imagine stepping down those stairs at 2am on a dark winters night!

At the right price someone will -aside from the crime committed there , and the excavation work by the Gardai , the house obviously needs a ton of work anyway - maybe knocking and rebuilding or knocking and just leaving it as a memorial site in the short term?
I’ve known other murder locations that lay to waste for decades - eventually they were rebuilt by someone - maybe it’s a passage of time that’s required here - 20-30 years

alright, clarifying it in one post stirring confusion and contratiction in the other again. what is it now, him getting the 50% and spending it on junk food at the prison truck shop (senseless comment anyway) or 'thus he can no longer benefit from Tinas' estate'…Seems this is a post only aimed at starting an argument. Though, don't bother responding, not interested.

Did a research again, 100% goes to Tinas' relative.

What are you on about? I answered your question with perfect clarification and also in my previous post-they don’t in any way contradict each other - you’re over reacting to absolutely nothing and you now look like a fool. Satchwell gets 50% of the proceeds of the sale of the house assuming it’s sold at some point - Tina’s family get the other 50% of the estate- I can’t make it any simpler for you. Any other possessions of Tina’s goes to her family- satchwell can’t inherit these due to the murder - the only thing that changed 6 years ago was that the loophole closed on joint tenancy’s - Satchwell would have inherited all of the house before that law was amended - over reaction much?

Could you share that research with us all then?
