TV that has built in Saorview and UK free channels?

I'm looking for a TV that has the Irish Saorview and UK free channels (Astra satellite) built in.

So I plug the two cables into the TV and it picks them up and I can arrange the channels in the order I want. No box involved, I've heard there are a few options with Samsung? or Toshiba? (I know LG don't support this AFAIK)

This is for my elderly mother. I've gone through two combi boxes already and I don't want to get a combi box again, they just don't last.

The main thing is that I can mix the channels, they can't be on different outputs - she can't change the outputs.

Ideally, I want her to be able to go through the channel list in the order she wants, mixing the Irish and UK

Anyone have any TV they'd recommend?

Walker, Nordmende, Toshiba, Telefunken all have all channels on a single list, the EPG,'s are separate and cant be mixed, it's 7 day for SaorView but now and next for satellite.

The SaorView channels tune in in order, starting with 1, the satellite channels will need to be reordered, starting at 301. There is or was an app that allowed you put the sat channels lower, say BBC1 on 3 or 5, it takes a few minutes.

    Of those I'd recommend Walker.

It's the closest you're going to get to what you want in a TV but as said the channels can't be mixed.

Ok, thanks, but it was said that the channels could be mixed, with the help of an app

I have to have all the channels together or it's not going to be any good

I don't have the app and so can't confirm.

I've had Walker TVs for a number of years and my mother has no issue using them

I've two LG TC's both with a DVB and FreeSat tuner built in. I think it takes a little messing with regions, but I have all the Saorview stations and FreeStat stations available without too much hassle. It's reasonably easy to switch between the two just code a channel shortcut to button 1 on the remote(Long press it) for RTE 1 and your in Saorview and can move up and down stations with the EPG etc. and button 2 for BBC1 freestat and your now on freestat with the EPG. Would she handle the long press to switch between the 2 sources, if not I wouldn't recommend as it's convoluted otherwise.

Yes, thanks. No, she wouldn't be able for the long press shortcut for the different inputs.

It looks like the app is still available

With or without the app the channels Saorview and Satellite will be on the same list, Saorview from 1, Satellite from 301.

TIP, if you choose to use the app move an sd channel first, once you do that you can move HD and SD into whatever order you wish.

Sorry for repeating my experience, my older LG (webOS4.5) works for SaorView and Freesat, on the newer tv (webOS 21) it's Saorview or Freesat not both, so it's fta Satellite channels or Saorview channels in the 800's, they can't be renumbered, a real pain.

Good shout, I should have said both my TVs are running the older LG webOS

Cousin has a Walker tv and Blue picture and not that old and when channels move one needs a new channel list which sucks.

Curious what boxes did you have that were short lived?

I have a Sony tv 2 sat and saorview and still prefer my box.

    One was an Amiko

    Can't remember the other one

I'm starting to lean back towards getting a box I think

If she is incapable of changing the outputs on a TV, she does well to negotiate a box and a TV. The LG I have is, as has already been posted, just a long press on a number on the remote to go to satellite or terrestrial. To me that is as simple as dealing with a combined UK Ireland channel list. I have BBC One on a long press of 1, and the Freesat channel list is well laid out from there. 2 is RTE 2.

My LG is 2017 and apparently that system is not on some newer LG remotes. But TV's are designed for people to watch TV, not to baffle them. Don't underestimate her ability to learn new things, and for them to become second nature after a short time. It would be easy to write down the channel numbers for whichever her favourite Saorview channels are.

On a newer (2025) LG, it has quick access, 1, 2 ,whatever but Saorview and Freesat are not available, it's one or the other. So with Freesat the Saorview channels are in the 800's and can't be renumbered or Saorview with fta channels which have to be arranged manually and adjusted in the event of frequency changes.

Yes, thanks. She has trouble with the buttons as well. She's 89 but her capacity to learn new things/the sequencing of things is affected by a stroke she had.

She's ok with just one remote and working through the channels on that to a capacity of about ten channels.

Doesn't look like LG is an option and I'm not keen on going through the hoops on getting a Walker TV to do what I want. I'm leaning towards the Ferguson combo box that DID are selling I think.

But thanks for all your help everyone, much appreciated
