My point being-the Israeli forces are reenacting exactly what happened to the Jews by the Nazis -it’s no different.

The ICJ will hold Israel accountable.

At some point in the near future, Netanyahu will be held accountable

    1. At the ballot box
    2. When his criminal case for corruption is completed
    3. When he is taken to The Hague to face justice for War Crimes

The ICC seem likely to issue warrants for Ben-Gvir and Smotrich. Cases are also being made for IDF soldiers and could result in ICC charges.

On the World Stage, the verdict is already in. Unfortunately, that tars all Israelis with the same brush plus Jews worldwide - as many have stated in public statements.

Israelis themselves have a large say in what happens to those in charge. What they will decide is up to them. Hold them to account or not.

I supported Israel’s right to retaliate against the “October” atrocities- but that support was withdrawn weeks later- even by then Israel went too far- Israeli people have lost the right to lecture the world on holacosts -you can’t have it all ways- you’re either for genocide or against it - it appears Israel is for genocide - so be it- let the cards fall where they will for these people.

There are a lot in Israel who want this war stopped as all they want the hostages released and this war will not do it. Netanyahu will do everything in his power to not let him lose power as he knows once he is out he is in a lot of trouble in Israel never mind anywhere else

Well retaliation against Israel as a country and a people has started - the general public don’t differentiate between Israel the country and “some” Israelis who “just want their loved ones home”

The biggest challenge for the Israeli's to navigate will be the rise of right wing and far right Europe. They've thrived in left wing Europe post WW2. They've thrived in right wing America though so they'll have some experience as Europe makes the shift.

They've bad memories of the last time Europe went to the right. Back then they didn't have an Israel to fall back to. It might lead to an increase of Western Jews migrating to Israel, increasing their population and ultimately strengthening them.

You won't see any of our lot doing that. The last person with morals to resign was Roisin Shorthall.

Disgraceful - how dare those British paralympians turn their backs on the Israelis. They should be ashamed of themselves and have brought that shame on everyone on Great Britain. Politics has no place in sport.

    Meanwhile, in other political news:

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said that 61 Palestinians were killed and 308 were wounded and reached hospitals across the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours.

According to the statement issued Saturday, eight new cases of death due to malnutrition and hunger were noted in the last day.

Netanyahu was warned and did nothing:

    • The former director of Israel's Military Intelligence, Aharon Haliva, said that he gave PM Netanyahu a "strategic warning" alerting him of war during the period leading up to the October 7 attack, according to recordings broadcast by Channel 12 News on Friday.
    • The former director said he "came to a room, two people arrived, I showed them the findings," he said. "Two irrelevant people and that's it, here it ends. One was late, one didn't listen ... It's embarrassing." He said that the strategic warning he gave Netanyahu "means that something will happen."

Israelis as well aware that their country is committing Genocide even as some on here still deny it:

    • At a protest in Tel Aviv, hundreds called for an end to the war and to prevent the growing famine in Gaza, holding signs reading "Stop the genocide" and displaying photos of Palestinian children suffering from malnutrition.

Ben-Gvir is feeling the heat - not that that would have any effect on such an odious man of course. The protesters are corrected - he is a convicted terrorist.

Protesters for a hostage deal demonstrated outside the house in central Israel where far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was staying on Saturday morningaccusing him of torpedoing a deal, with one protester telling him "You're a historic failure, a terrorist, a criminal."

I haven't posted here in ages - couldn't listen to the obvious Hasbara/ Israeli shill posters.

Just wanted to say for the benefit of our Israeli visitors it is really evident now how much ordinary Irish people revile Israelis now. I am not an activist and don't really move in those circles bit it is clear that the anger we feel is universal - across all demographics and ages and really striking whenever the topic of Gaza/ Israel comes up. You will forever be stained by this - as much as the Nazis were after World War ii.

“as much as the Nazis were after World War ii.”

It is that serious at this stage- I’m not an “activist” either - in fact most people in Ireland aren’t “activists” in terms of this war. But quite simply, the Israeli people have slept walked into a position where they’re now, ironically, on par with early WW2 oNazi Germany which is incredibly ironic.

Between burning out Palestinian settlers from their homes to placing vast restrictions around freedom of movement tothe genocide of Gaza, I don’t see any difference between that and the early years of WW2- none at all. It’s fact not politically motivated propaganda - and many countries are still in denial that it’s happening.

I’m not a racist and yes, Hamas must also face their judgement day for their atrocities- they are not without blame and also have the death of 1000s of Palestinian and Israeli lives on their hands -but neither do I bow down to fascist regimes or take seriously their rhetoric that tries to silence criticism of such atrocities.

They can’t hide behind the “anti-semitism” accusation of their critics any longer- they have lost the right to be respected - they might still have protections around discrimination under law- but the court of public opinion is very clear at this stage- Israel has transformed into the very regime they have preached against for the last 80 years

They're ignorant, bought or racist. Or possibly all three.

I've said it here before but we've had an "all Muslims are terrorists and they want to set up an Jihadi cell near you" narrative hammered into us for years. That's a long time devoted to a sunk cost fallacy. Hard to swing that ship around. I mean **** it, one lad there a couple of days back insinuated that should the Israeli's get rid of all possible Hamas (i.e. Palestinians) that'd make it all worthwhile right. And wouldn't make the Israelis the actual terrorists at all-tall... :mind-blown:

Matt Kennard is right, Gaza has blown Western hypocrisy to smithereens. I mean Putin bombs a school and it's a warcrime/despicable act, George W/Obama does it and its an unfortunate side effect of war. The double standards.... Well they're deafening... or about as deafening as a 2000lb bomb...

It would be great if it were true, but it's not. I regularly visit the UK, I was there during the week past, in Manchester. Now you can't tell the difference in most Jews, but the lads in the black clothes and beards you can, and they walk around and do their business as usual. All over the world in fact there's no news of any backlash against Israel, Jews or anything to do with them. Sure you hear musings and political and protest noises, but it seems in general its business as usual. They aren't being shunned or told take their business elsewhere. Not enough ihas or is being done to let them know. FFS govts are banning protest groups who are anti Israel.

Most of them are likely racists but given they are incapable of articulating their bigotry it's difficult to say with certainty. I'd say a small minority actually believe the Israeli/IDF propaganda and see fit to regurgitate it here.

I think it's worse than that.

Of all the nations, Israel, and particularly Jews, would be well aware of and versed in the minutiae of the Holocaust.

IDF reservists have been in Gaza for nearly two years - they are well aware of the abhorrent situation there. Some posted their atrocities on TikTok. In the early days, when there were many journalists reporting on the ground, it was clear what was going on. Outright genocide. Which is why Israel banned them all.

Israelis looked on and looked away - even after what happened to them 80 years ago.

I don't believe they "sleep walked" into anything. And I also believe it's not on par with events if 80 years ago - it's much worse because it was obvious from day 1 with instant news, video and pictures of the atrocities.

And all of what is happening right now has been predicted for months and months.

Public opinion in Ireland is firmly anti zionist. Not a single person I have spoken to isn't disgusted by what they are doing.

    (Real people, not shills online)

    Ban billionaires

You could also perhaps conclude that the leaders of the al-qassam brigades knew their enemy better than they knew themselves. A previous poster said Hamas may have underestimated the response from the Israelis, I think it's the opposite: they envisioned such a response and it was part of their strategy to isolate Israel and give renewed focus to a two state solution. If it was then it appears they have been partially successful as Israel is now a Pariah State to many.

It will take years of pr to try and rehabilitate their image- it could work with allies, who will just say Israel lost their way..., but for many others I feel no amount of pr will work. As you say though Israel will just keep creating facts on the ground while others talk shop about a two state solution.

This is just heartbreaking. From a highlight of having sugary tea one day to desperation the next following Anas Al-Sharif's murder and facing annihilation.

Fcuk israel and fcuk their apologists. Hell would be too good for them

My “sleep walking” reference was more directed towards the Israeli people themselves, not the fascist regime currently in place.

If the Israeli people and Jews in general value world opinion and wish to be seen as a peaceful ethnicity, they need to find their voice and clearly point out that the atrocities being carried out are not being done in their name- unfortunately few are doing that.

I was at a get together lately with people of all ages from the very young to the elderly

A conversation happened about this very subject and every single person was totally revolted and disgusted about what Israel has become

To a man they were fully anti Israel and very very angry at the shocking repeat of history taking place

I am totally shocked that not more Israelis are not putting up their hands and shouting and protesting at this genocide

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,640 ✭✭✭dmcdona

I agree - those in charge did not sleep-walk into this, perhaps the Israeli public did. But then, the Govt. controls the media to a large extent and Israeli media in general has not been covering what is going on in Gaza - only the bits that fit the Govt. narrative (no starvation, most moral army in the world ad nauseum).

Perhaps many Israelis are blissfully unaware of world opinion because they are either not seeing the outrage or choose not to see it.

Regardless, you're right, they need to rise up and protest. Or they will all be tarred.

Does anyone know what is in these 90M meals that the U.S. government press keep stating they have delivered?

I estimate that is approx 1 meal every 2 days.

The little research I have done seems to equate a 'meal box' as a meal. These boxes apparently have 43,000 calories in them.

It will actually be worse because we can see the results of their terrorism every day on the News and young people will be much better educated than they were in the 1940's. Israel is in tatters and the sooner they realise this the better. The world just needs to stop buying their goods and trading with them to make it effective.

With this in mind, I wonder will the GAA drop their association with Allianz?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,021 ✭✭✭Bishop of hope

This is a big one. I have a range of insurance policies with AXA, from motor, home, business and work vehicles and tools and public liability. My premium is renewable in October. Last year my premium was almost 5k cheaper with them than anyone else, I've been a customer since 2018. I couldn't afford that type of price hike. Quandary time. I know we've all heard of Allianz gaa thing, but AXA bought Israeli bonds too I think.

The final solution and Israeli War Crimes continue apace:

Israeli planes and tanks have pounded the eastern and northern outskirts of Gaza City overnight, destroying buildings and homes, residents said, as Israeli leaders vowed to press on with a planned offensive on the city.

Witnesses reported the sound of explosions non-stop overnight in the areas of Zeitoun and Shejaia, while tanks shelled houses and roads in the nearby Sabra neighbourhood and several buildings were blown up in the northern town of Jabalia.
