How much? Probably more than €1? I think Molly's from Tesco is still 79c although I haven't looked recently as I'm still going through my Easter Eggs.

Molly's is 84c, and passable enough, unlike the Fin Carré chocolate. Never tried the Simply range.

I got the Lidl dark one for 58p/68c, here it is 84c 😦. It is actually enjoyable. Not sure why I did not notice it before

The dark one is nice and better value than the Fin Carre ones now. If you are into dark chocolate, the Aldi equivalent is very good too.

I always trust Lidl for the frozen chicken, if you look at the raw frozen chicken breast in Lidl its 100% chicken, in Aldi it's

"CHICKEN BREAST FILLET (82%), Water, Dried Glucose Syrup, Acidity Regulators: Sodium Citrates, Sodium Carbonates, Sodium Acetates; Salt, Thickener: Xanthan Gum"

    150 cals per 100g compared to Lidl's 112 cals

Has anyone seen the coffee machines at the Aldi checkout for 2 euro, makes me miss the Lidl Coffee Machines that got replaced by ReTurn

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,152 ✭✭✭caviardreams

Is the eco toilet roll for 2 euro on the app this week any good? Seems too cheap and don't want to find out the hard way!

I also have a red hen coupon - are the fancy Gastro chicken goujons (super dear ones 6.50 per bag) nice? Might treat myself at 30% off - seem to be nearly 70% chicken - high for nuggets

Has anyone seen the onion flavoured sausages lately?. There's only been Cumberland or honey/mustard in my two Galway locals the last while

30% off on snacktastic on scratch card…time to stock up on snacks before school

Careful... The discount wasn't getting applied to some of the included products today. Lidl customer care generously compensated me afterwards though!

Tried the Aldi coffee the other day. Was as slow as a wet weekend. Took about 2 minutes for the coffee to come out and cost €1.99. It was nice but very sweet and not very strong. I think the Lidl coffee machines were better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,715 ✭✭✭✭zell12

Had a gawk, yep 750g €1.99, seems to be the best value

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,669 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

this offer looks half decent, shame you can’t just get 3 tubs of ice cream

Wow, that's some deal! Tesco would charge you a tenner these days (Clubcard price!) for the same deal... It's such a good deal I suspect Lidl will only have very limited stock of certain icecreams, but we'll see...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,912 ✭✭✭littlevillage

Soo a full size frozen pizza, a bag of frozen chips and a family sized tub of branded ice cream.... all in for €6. That's terribly unhealthy, but terribly good value!!

I'm guessing €3.99 for a pizza, €2.99 for the chips and €3.99 for the desert... Soo €11 worth of nosh for €6.

I wonder how big the ice cream tubs are though and the bag of chips might only be 500g.

    Good old Lidl

8am go in no milk frother

Ask worker , here is is, that's a kettle, go ask for manager on till

Go till, don't have it if not there, I was told to ask for a manager, well it's not in

Going out of shop ask another worker, did go warehouse and no didn't come in

Go out and check live stock, in stock

Go ring customer care, said the same about being in stock and they've no notice about not coming in, can't get through to the shop, will email with update

No wonder I gave up on Lidl and plus, waste of petrol and time, if I'm in the shop and see the item/s well and good

It personally drives me nuts when customers take up staff time asking about stock of middle aisle stuff. If you find what you're looking for, great... if not, then bad luck, that's all. No big deal, try another Lidl and move on :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,016 ✭✭✭jeffk

So you expect people to go on a roadtrip for a 20 euro milk frother?

There was about 6 staff members in the shop I asked

I picked it up this morning and viennetta was the only desert choice and there wasn't many of them left. There were lots of options for the side and main and the chips are 800g. I made a saving of €5 so still a good deal.

    “Customers take up staff time”

    Shocking, whatever next 🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 836 ✭✭✭Escapees

No, I just expect people to have realistic expectations when it comes to middle aisle bargains and their availability. Lidl stores are run very efficiently and their staff are fairly hard pressed for time. Taking up the time of 6 of them to enquire about a 20 euro milk frother which clearly was not available (i.e. not or no longer in the middle aisle) ultimately has an indirect impact on many more customers than yourself.

Fair enough, their live stock check later indicated the store should have stock. But Lidl are fundamentally a grocery store, with middle aisle bargains only offered to draw customers in etc. I'd understand where you were coming from if we were talking about a funiture store here and you were asking staff whether something like a €1k couch was in stock, but a milk frother on special in a grocery store???...

Edit: I interpreted your comment that 'There was about 6 staff members in the shop I asked' as meaning you asked about 6 staff members in the store, which may not have been what you meant to imply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,016 ✭✭✭jeffk

    Ah here

I asked 3 staff members because the first one told me to ask another one to get the manager, he had an attitude and fobbed me of, so I asked another as I was leaving unhappy with no stock and the attitude of staff

It shouldn't matter what the cost is, I'm a customer going in to a shop to get a product that's been advertised as out today

I'm surprised you haven't had a go for me using the i.t system/staff for the live stock check, or ringing customer care and having her going to email me an update, also she'll be reporting to her manager so that's another staff member

You've just had another customer tell us the only new offer had very little choice

It's an entirely valid request to enquire about a middle aisle special. If you disagree, take it up with LIDL for stocking them if you are so precious about the staff's time or shop somewhere that doesn't offer such specials and want only groceries or avoid the 'Specials' days of Thursday and Monday. LIDL heavily promote the middle aisle specials both in terms of ads and in store space to bring customers into the store who have as much right to take up staff's time as you do.

Also i was all set to get herself one of those pizza things from the bakery, but none of them to be had either

I think most people have a realistic expectation that when they travel to the store at 8am opening on the day the item first becomes available, that it will be in stock. Lidl are normally good about marking any delays online and this item is not delayed today.

So it's perfectly acceptable for a customer to ask staff if the item is available at 8am on the day of it's release, I've had plenty of times over the years where an item might still be out in the stores or kept behind the tills and would have missed out if I'd not asked a staff member.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

This is why i went at 8am

Walk in, get or dont get, ask staff, no stock, at least i know

Walk in later or the next day or so etc, no stock, maybe it sold out

Was the same carry on the last milk frother, I looked for weeks everytime I was in any lidl and others looked for me
