Hacked

My computer was hacked many year's ago Back in 2004 I think, When this happened I used to get a message all the time saying "other people were logged into this computer" when I was the only person who used the computer I lost the ability to host games on Xbox 360. I found all the stuff installed on my computer on my Norton antivirus Things that slowed my internet connection down and made me lag in games I know how this was done to me My original Xbox was hacked and whoever done it must of got my information from my Xbox live account and then somehow got into my computer Anyways ever since then my internet connection is slow I have changed ISP numerous times and it still remains the same. I never knew how to fix this problem and have never tried to fix it as I refuse to pay money to a technician to fix the problem all in the hope I have some sort of evidence and proof that someone hacked into my computer and Xbox. I recently changed ISP again from a 150gb Eir connection to a 500gb Virgin media The speeds are ridiculous sometimes it's under 1 mb the most it goes to is in the 20's Problem is now I can't even get on the internet with the router/modem from virgin media When I try to set a wireless network on my Xbox one it says DNS isn't resolving Xbox server names. When I try entering my network security key on my laptop it says that it is wrong even though I entered the password correctly. All I can do for the moment is use the internet from my phone by creating a hotspot There's obviously something really wrong with the broadband line/cable in my home. I rang Virgin media customer support and they have arranged for a technician to come out to my house to have a look at it. Can a broadband line/cable be hacked itself? Can anyone please help me out with this problem? I still have the old computer and original Xbox that were hacked This has gone on far to long I need to sort it out

You are using a hotspot so the speed of your wired broadband is irrelevant.

You need to seek help from a few different types of professionals here; your ISPs techs are not one of them. Some basic IT training first off.

A 2004 PC is going to be useless now; and the chances that it was "hacked" are next to nonexistent; it likely just got a virus. Norton is, and always was, completely useless and slows computers down.

Give it another 21 years, you might figure it out.

You have a few problems, mostly due to ancient equipment.

The Xbox 360 became end of life last year. I don't have one but I'd imagine that is why you are getting DNS issues because the hard coded DNS servers have been shut down. Similarly, my PSP which I bought around 2004, had the Play Station Network which was shut down years ago. If I go into the PSN I get a vague error message.

"other people are logged into this computer". This is a famous or maybe I should say notorious message among tech support people for it's needlessly generic message. Basically, you are logged in as your user. If any process you were using needed Admin rights, it started an Administrator shell which after the process finished, the Admin shell would stick around, known as a TSR or Terminate and Stay Resident. Then when you go to log out, the kernel sees there is your user account, the Administrator, and possibly some processes owned by SYSTEM, and says "Oh noes! theres other people logged in".

I never knew how to fix this problem and have never tried to fix it as I refuse to pay money to a technician to fix the problem all in the hope I have some sort of evidence and proof that someone hacked into my computer and Xbox.

I would bet decent money that you have not been hacked. You might have gotten a worm, back in 2004(There were lots of worms from 2002-2006) but thats not affecting your new computer now.

I'd be willing to try and help you if you want. I have experience in this area(as you can probably tell?)

You are really over thinking this, adware on a computer 21 years ago is completely normal and irrelevant

I switched to virgin media about 2 months ago, and it was very poor, webpages showing a white screen for 10 to 15 seconds while loading,

found they set me up with a private ip which meant gaming services and my security cameras were restriced

I used the cooling off to cancel the account
