Possibly because US government is now such a shambles of half-thought ideas, corruption - and some finagling - it will be all the more difficult to disentangle when he is (eventually) gone, assuming that at some stage a president with any notion of integrity - of either party - gets in. He has created, and moved on from, such a morass of EOs based on Project 25, and his own vague notions, that it would take another decade just to disentangle it. None of this matters to him, he has made a lot of money, hobnobbed with world leaders in a position of strength, gold plated the Oval Office and left a permanent stain impression on US history.

He is so shallow that it is usually difficult to work out what he has actually said - his contributions to the international discussions on Ukraine in Washington were so bland and pointless he actually said nothing at all, and surely did not absorb anything the other leaders said, yet he gets to go back to Putin to agree to whatever Putin says.

He is too far gone in senility and self-aggrandisement to realise that he is held in total contempt outside the US - including his friend Putin. So many people have a hand in the till of the US and therefore find it convenient to support him, resulting in him being a very dangerous threat to world order and peace.

I'm fairly disappointed in the EU/ NATO leader(s) contributions to that meeting. I expected something a lot more substantial. Stubb's contribution was arguably the best, with possibly the least expected of him. Maybe Shultz after.

Basically amounted to each leader thanking Trump for his 'leadership', saying they wanted peace, and a ceasefire was very important. Ok.

What a complete narcissist, Zelenskyy must be thinking " I came here looking to get a deal to save Ukraine and after listening to this cnut going on about a rigged 2020 election, mail-in voting and the great deal with the EU I have to see his stupid hat collection"

    Exit through the gift shop…

Macron and the lads could have got Trump to agree to anything they want if they'd just bought a few hats, and said how much they loved them.

I think the only thing achievable by the Zelensky+EU visit is to just sway Trumps attention back from his idol Putin.

I know Rutte gets a lot of justified criticism but his approach may actually be the only way to keep dementia donie on side, keep feeding his vanity because right now if donie had a heart attack there isn't anyone around him that could keep the cult going.

Canada imported more vehicles from Mexico than the U.S.in June for the first time in three decades.

    Tariffs working well it seems.

Trump just isn't an intelligent man. He's not even smart, and there is certainly little in the way of wisdom going on despite his advanced age. So he pivots from one thing to the next while retaining a bizarre ability to waffle on and on, filling the room with hot air and absolute nonsense. He gets "influenced" by others with great ease, especially those that he sees as "strong", hence his adoration of Putin and his desire to adored by him in return.

He's a rich boy who's had things handed to him all his life and has managed to fail upwards continuously, all the way to the nation's top job. He also allows himself to be "managed", precisely because of his limited intelligence, and isn't the strong willed iconoclast that some desperately want to believe he is. That makes him easy to manipulate and we can see that happening with his handlers in the States, and even more clearly with the likes of Putin and Netanyahu, whom he acquiesces to with remarkable ease.

He's a narcissist. He won't listen to experts because he has to be the smartest guy in the room. He won't ever admit he's wrong and therefore has the emotional maturity of a 5 year old. He loves the idea of being a dictator like Putin et al but he's just not smart or ruthless enough to be one. He's only being driven towards an authoritarian agenda not by any ideological conviction but because the Christian Fascists who back him have promised him immunity from everything he's done wrong in return for the implementation of Project 2025. Oh, he is a racist though, and has been for years. And he is the greediest fucker on the planet.

It's the follow-up process the house speaker initiated after arrest warrants were issued for all the Democrat members who stayed away from Texas and the house preventing the house AND it's GOP members from holding a vote on their new redrawn constituency map depriving the Democrat members of their current voting returns.

I think that you might be forgetting that it was Trump that they were dealing with. Out of TEN I would give them NINE and a HALF. The real feelings / discussions, etc, happens , hopefully behind closed doors

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,561 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

    He's a narcissist.

He undoubtedly is and that's what makes him easy to manipulate. You simply appeal to his narcissism. Tell him he's doing a great job and all his "ideas" are wonderful, while you sow the ideas you want in his head and make him believe that he thought of them.

The experts he won't listen to are the ones that tell him he's wrong or don't massage his ego to placate him.

So Texas Democrats are virtually arrested and forced to be in the House so that there is a quorum and then the House can vote to gerrymander some of the same Democrats out of their seats. Not only f*cking mental, but something Putin, Stalin or Hitler would have been proud of.

    It really is that extreme.

The following points could be considered by Ukr when trying to reach a a LASTING ACOMMODATION with Russia :-

    (1) give equal attention to the Russian language throughout the pre 2014 Ukr

    (2) Put up a statue of Putin in the Maidan Sq in Kiev and an epithaf chisled into it and passed by him

    (3) guarantee the safety , security, respect for all things Russian, As per the pre 2014 border

    (4) Ukr to never have any military presence of any sort within 5km of the 2014 border between both countries

(5)/Both countries agree a strategy to denazify their respective populations down to a level that it is no longer a threat to either governments

    (6) bout countries agree to hold joint military exercises once every two years

    (7) both countries agree to carry out a range of cultural exchanges

    (8) both countries agree never to put tariffs on any imports from any trade between them

    (9) both sides agree to come to a trade agreement that benefits each others economy

    (10) both sides agree that aviation flights over each others airspace will be 100% respected and will take place unhindered.

    (11) both sides will enter into joint commercial ventures such as developing oil and gas pipelines to serve some foreign markets

    (12) both sides agree that all shipping lanes are available , unhindered, to both for commercial use

    (13) both sides agree that they will inform eachother of any military exercises , joint or unilateral, and within one month of they taking part.

    (14) both sides agree to never interfere in the internal workings of each others politics and economy and security

    IN SUMMARY,

VZ is free to table. All of the above or cherry pick from same

They are designed to reduce to zero Putin’s fear of being ever attacked

His only "long term plan" is for his personal aggrandisement . He is incapable of retaining anything that he does not think is of direct benefit for him so when asked about "Not-Trump" stuff , like his actual job of running the United States he flubs and punts by saying "We're looking at that very strongly and we'll have something on that in 2 weeks" as his go to "F*ck off and stop asking me stupid questions , Ask me about me!!!!!!!!!!!" response.

He can make long term plans for two things - Revenge and Money/Power Grab efforts.

Stealing the mid-terms and cancelling the Presidential Elections are covered by both of those..

    Or , to summarise..

Ukraine should make all kinds of promises and concessions to Putin that he will summarily ignore when is is ready to make his move again in a year or two when he has restocked his coffers and his armouries..

To be honest the shine appears to be coming off this 'deal' today with the media now beginning to realise and report that nothing has been agreed with Russia whatsoever and it looks like Putin does not want a deal - what a surprise! Trump is also ruling out putting US troops on the ground to back his security guarantee, a guarantee which appears to be meaningless.

It really says something about the current state of the US administration when people get their hopes up simply because the US President did not have a shouting match with the head of a foreign state in the Oval Office.

It is tragic indeed that any hope of an agreement involving Trump has to involve him feeling great and feeling "powerful" and has absolutely nothing to do with the relative merits of whatever is being discussed.

It's not about the greater good anymore it's solely about platitudes and the mollification of a petulant child.

I am sorry, but these points miss the point. Putin doesn't care much about Russians in Ukraine, or the NATO expansion, or any of the things you mention. They are just parts of a maskirovka exercise — to dump semi-plausible grievances to justify a war of aggression.

Putin wants to control all of Ukraine, and specifically, he wants the political control. Having independent Ukraine where presidents can be voted out of office is a mortal danger to Putin himself and to his regime. If Ukrainians (whom Russians consider practically Russian) can change their presidents, then no Russian president can ever be safe from mere voters.

I agree with you but my suggestions are to :-

    (1(Muddy the waters

    (2) flood the zone.

    (3) counter proposals to Putin’s and have to be on the agenda

And all with a view to telling’/ convincing Putin that Russia is under no threat and all agreed SUBJECT TO RU Mo bing back to the 2014 border.
so , once the Russians are back home by all means it can attack again but I assume Ukr has sufficiently rearmed and with the support of ‘The Willing to guarantee security TO BOTH sides

Trump putting a poster of it up is the least suspicious part of this timeline imo.

Hell id have that shot hanging on my wall if it was me😂

The Presidency is just a reality show for Trump, he is centre stage, and everyone else part players in his show.
The fawning that is expected towards him is like the attention North Korean leaders get/expect from their subjects.

The same Von Der Leyen who said Israel has a right to defend itself when they cut off food, electricity and water to hundreds of thousands of kids

She should be in jail for her complicity in Palestine and beyond, not representing Europe on a world stage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,986 ✭✭✭✭briany

Unfortunately, I cannot think that Ukraine will get most of those kids back. Surely, Russia wouldn't be keeping track of them with respect to their original identity - something they'd want forgotten with the aim of Russification. Also can't see Russia cooperating with Ukrainian efforts to locate and identify them by other means.

Setting aside the whole "Trump 2028" nonsense , how unbelievably sad and insecure do you have to be to not only to have a display like that , but to show it off with such obvious pride??

Just pathetic - yet another example of how far from "Alpha" he truly is..

If what is being attributed to Trump is true, the boots on the ground plan for Ukraine is dead in the water. He has supposedly said that not only is there to be no US involvement (boots on the ground) in the plan there is to be no (boots on the ground) NATO involvement in the plan, period. As that means NO European Countries in NATO can be part of the plan (solely because Trump says so), it's dead before birth.

Coincidentally, Trump's latest is similar to what Sergei Lavrov and Russia are also saying is the Russian position on boots on the ground in Ukraine as part of the peace plan - no NATO countries involved. Trump has also repeated his insistence that Ukraine will not be a NATO member. The war must go on, with his approval, so Ukraine's children will continue to die at Russian hands.

Edit: The odds that Russia (Putin) would allow European countries in NATO take part in the peace plan by way of changing the uniform badges from the NATO North Star to some temporary peace force (UN or other) is slim to thin.

The only thing to find out now is when Trump decided that this is the plan he is going to follow; before or after the meeting he had with the Europeans and Zelenskyy, and was it coordinated with Putin as part of the phone call with Putin yesterday. Coincidentally, it gives Vance plausible deniability as he was not present at or part of yesterdays Washington talks.

How does he think it's going to happen? I know he's pack the Supreme Court but I doubt even they'd just ignore or overturn the two term limit.

Does the constitution say that he can't be elected or can't run for election for a 3rd term? Or both. 🤔

I wonder if his plan is to run for election anyway and cause turmoil if he wins, him running will probably drag the cult voters out in more numbers than if it was some other loon from the party running such as Vance. And if he doesn't win it'll give the cult fuel to start dragging out the rigged election stuff again.

And if he does actually win the vote can you imagine the **** show that would follow, the cult saying the people have spoken, and drag it through the courts for months.....

Either way the next few years are gonna be mental over there!
