The man has no interest in playing football.

Yet another player that threw it all away but gets to live a life of luxury forever. Sickening.

But there is an alternative he threw down the gauntlet to rashford and garnacho early on, one did an interview saying he wanted a new challenge the other was brought back into the first team and used until he lost the plot near the end and in the summer.

There is nothing to be done with garnacho now he was so far out of order he has to be moved on.

Hojund is hardly the first player who has a potential move coming up that has been removed from injury risk. He has been told the situation about game time but if he stays the manger will use him if needed or there is big improvement. Also hojund was used alternatively in preseason until a replacement came in, if we didn't get sesko he would probably be playing right now

The biggest thing the manager should be is consistent with ten hagg he went hard on some players like Ronaldo but then let rashford waltz around now pressing and start every game even though there was obviously issues with him a manager sending a mixed message like that is worse then anything

I don't think Amorim has been creating a war with players though. it's more the players themselves who have been stirring crap. Rashford and his media interviews before his move to villa and more recently, Garnacho immdeiately after the Europa League final and wearing a Villa jersey etc.

& Ferguson did kick a boot at Beckham's head, imagine that happening nowadays!

Which for a RB might be fine, for a RWB, nowhere close imo

All he cares about is the benjamins. Which is funny when you see comments about keep him at the club rather than loan him or threaten him with the plus one in his contract.

If he stays this season he's still getting paid his full wage and I don't think threatening him with another £13M in wages for a season maybe more if we qualify for Europe is going to work either. The sooner the parasite is out the door the better.

Zero surprise that Sancho is dragging things out.

What's his salary? £225k/week after the 25% cut for no CL?

He will only get a max of £100k/week from most clubs if they have to pay a transfer fee to get him, so every week he delays moving is worth ~£125k to him.

The English press will never speak of him this way but IMO there is little doubt that Jadon Sancho is the worst big money, lets say £40m+, transfer in the history of football. And I was excited that we signed him. Just an absolute waste of money and talent.

He's not creating war with Højlund, don't be so melodramatic ffs. According to the latest Talk Of The Devils podast Højlund said he wants to stay. If you continue to pick him for squads then he just thinks there might be a way back, dropping him helps convince him and his agent to start looking elsewhere.

Least surprising news of the day...

I said this as soon as the Roma rumours started. Give it a week and we'll be reading about he refused personal terms.

I was delighted we signed him and thought he could be immense for us.

Surely the best thing is to payoff his final year to him secretly in the hope he'll sign for Roma or Juventus this year.

From a purely financial perspective he's heavily incentivised to sit out this year on his big contract and land big signing on fee next summer. It's sad for all concerned really.

We can't really set the precedent for buying him out and releasing him now either or there'd be a queue out the door for that option with Rashford, Antony and Garnacho all delighted with that outcome.

What an absolute sh1t show we've been for so long. At leat the transition has started and things are being cleaned up but the fallout is massive and far reaching.

The insanity of offering him another year must be a joke. Christ Jadon would be thrilled to get us to pay him again. He wont get near another contract again. It'll be off to Korea et al. he is burning all European clubs and showing how poisonous he is.

at this stage i'd take the 20m roma have offered and offer sancho half of it to piss off.

think we will be forced into loan with no obligation and he will then be a free agent in the summer.

Whatever happens, we'll probably be paying a portion of his wages anyway. Sancho won't end up out of pocket at all. And to be fair, he has that right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,887 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

I've no idea where this talk of big signing on fee for Sancho as free agent is coming from.

Hes pricing himself out of moves to surprisingly big clubs who are banking on a player who has done nothing for 4-5 years. I doubt they'll be banging down his door as a free agent unless he has a magnificent season, which he isn't arsed having because he wants his United wage as a priority.

At least Lingard put in a shift at West Ham to mean he'd attract himself offers, Sancho won't even do that.

Sanchos contract was one of Ed Woodwards last gifts to the club.

"Utd can do things in the transfer market that other clubs can only dream of."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,051 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

We would have been offering him some of that to cover his wages anyway. Genuinely believe he doesn't want United to get a penny of any transfer move this summer. That he wants to walk on a free.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,961 ✭✭✭✭Zeek12

Those at the club who were responsible for blowing €75 odd million on this guy should hang their heads in shame. One of the worst attitudes I've ever seen from a player in recent years.

Say what you want about the likes of Antony, Hojlund and Maguire (and yes they've deserved some criticism, and yes we did screw up with their transfer fees), but at least their attitudes have always been right and they have acted like proper Pros.

I would gladly watch the club tear up Sancho's contract in September and tell him to just get the hell out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,449 ✭✭✭The Big Easy

He will get what they are offering to buy him for this summer essentially, it's naive to think otherwise.

Turkey, Saudi will always hold an interest. He still has admirers in Germany and Italy too.

He will be getting a big chunk next summer whether we like it or not!

Pay him up and boot him out the door.

We're seeing him refusing to go to clubs, they're probably the ones backing off once they talk to his representatives.

His career is essentially over already.

It must have been some dressing room with the likes of him and Rashford and Pogba when he was around. Bunch of slackers not in the least bit interested in their jobs, useless swines to a man.

If he turns down Juventus and Roma over wages do you think they'll be queing up next year to offer him big money if hes spends the next year playing on his xbox?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,350 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

He would be very foolish to go down the route

He has done nothing of any real note in the last 2/3/4 seasons. If he sits this one out on top of that then clubs aren't really going to have a good reason to take the chance on him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,227 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Can there be any question remaining that he's our worst signing ever?

The initial fee, the poor performance, the petulance and now the sheer greed preventing any kind of fee to mitigate the damage meaning that he'll milk us dry and then walk on a free.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,887 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Dont forget we failed to get him 12 months earlier but still crawled back to get him.

Outstanding scouting. Its a close battle between himself and Pogba.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,961 ✭✭✭✭Zeek12

Ten Hag may have made mistakes and I know he has few supporters around here anymore.

But he was 101% correct about this guy all along.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,409 ✭✭✭scottser

Sancho. You'd almost sign Andy Carroll for peanuts and give him one job - to tackle Sancho extra hard, all day, every day until he leaves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,814 ✭✭✭DataDude

Mad take on Pogba. Similar fee to Sancho. Made the PFA team of the year in 2018-19. Europa League team of the year twice. A significant amount of man of the matches. 40 goals from midfield. He was uniteds best outfield player for long stretches of his time.

Doesn’t belong in the same breath as Sancho. Factoring in wages Sanchez and then general dislikeability Di Maria are the only ones in Sancho’s league.
For just outright worst footballer relative to fee it’s probably Hojlund, but his lowish wage spare him.

Foot on foot anywhere else on playing field is a foul.

Dermot Gallagher could not even give straight answer earlier.

Its a stonewall penalty. Player made no contact with ball while bringing down opposition player. Could not be more clear.

    EVENFLOW

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,271 ✭✭✭kowloonkev

I think we'll see fewer penalties this season with referees increasingly unwilling to make decisions and VAR increasingly unwilling to interfere.

Simon Harris is monitoring the situation...

I get that Bayinder could have done better yesterday, but it's still a blatant foul IMO. How is it OK to just push the keeper as they're going to claim the ball.
