If there was a Live Aid 3 all you'd have is a bunch of contemporary artists lip syncing to backing tracks with costume changes between every song. You wouldn't be getting Queen at Wembley levels of brilliance, not even close.

The golden age of music is over and has been for decades, that's why Oasis, a band that people were tired of in 2009 when they collapsed in a heap can attract the type of attention they have done in the last twelve months. Nothing has replaced them and their peers from the 90's.

Yes but if somebody paid €500 to be there because they were so desperate to see their favourite band and loved every minute and had the time of their lives then that's fair enough for me. Its nobody's place to tell anyone else how to spend their money after all!

If somebody paid €500 to be seen at a concert and post to Instagram about being there, then its a case of fool and their money.

    McCartney's prices... **** me. 2k a ticket?

You can see Paul McCartney for less than $200. This 2k thing is nonsense.

Are these concerts posted to Nugs does anyone know?

Calm down, it's almost 34 years to the day for a far more historic gig in the Top Hat, Dunlaoighre. There's more people claiming they were there than fit in Croke park. Oasis hardly compares to a genuine worldwide phenomenon that truly changed things for disgruntled teenagers everywhere.

Oasis reunion isn't even the most exciting gig of the year. Ozzys send off claimed that one.

The man was unreal last night, he was nearly worth the admission fee alone

As someone who couldn’t get tickets for Dublin, I sincerely hope this isn’t the end and they’ll tour again next year. I’d travel to see them

Can see him adding a 3Arena date for his upcoming tour

Not sure I'd go see him again but plenty would

God going to miss boards for these kind of gig discussions

I'm glad everyone around me was singing as I'd say I was roaring like a banshee with my own words for some songs 🙈 loved especially The Masterplan

It was a great concert, top support acts too , the banter and atmosphere with everyone was fun too , as a great bunch of people in my part of stadium , even The Auld Triangle was sang by all

Noel and Liam did seem to keep to opposite stage sides but still a great gig

I am guessing next years big gigs will be Oasis at Slane and U2 in Croke Park

Just a cracking gig. As someone else said Ashcroft was class, Oasis were epic. Was lucky enough to have won my tickets so I bought a ball of merch🤣

Song after song after song of just awesomeness

Never been to Slane, in your experience what’s a better experience slane or Croke Park?

Sounds like an amazing show by all accounts! Great to see Noel and Liam repairing their relationship and burying the hatchet. Also, a fitting triumphant return for Oasis to make good on the 2009 non event gigs! It leaves a better taste in the mouth if they decide to call it a day.

Personally I reckon big headline festival slots next year and the Knebworth anniversary gigs to cap it all off.

venues have legally licensed/approved capacities. They can’t go over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,702 ✭✭✭Zardoz

    Unfortunately they cant.

The capacity is 82k for concerts, the same as matches.

Saw the 8 times in the 00s. That was probably the best of all them.

Boring enough setlist as everyone that has been following the tour knows. Would be great to have a couple of fan tracks in there like Gas Panic or something, but hey ho. Smashed out all the classics straight up so better than on the HC, DBTT tours where we were listening to sh1te album tracks.

    Solid 9/10.

Wasn't there talk of the reunion happening just before Covid ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,321 ✭✭✭MOR316

Still charging 2k. I went to buy tickets for Buffalo NY and saw it myself.

At no point is it even remotely acceptable to charge that amount of money.

I loved every second of that.

Richard Ashcroft too. Just brilliant and really got the crowd in the mood

Well, that was peak gig going for me and I’ve been to 350+. So many boxes were ticked and it was worth flying home from Australia for. Got to experience a sold out Croker with my missus, best mate, and favourite band of all time. Unbeatable.

I paid face value for standing thanks to getting very lucky in the resale and we were in the front section tonight. Looking at the crowd was special, and the singing in unison was spectacular. The band themselves deserve a lot of credit for coming back in great form, not just phoning it in. The setlist is spot on for what you want from an Oasis gig. Noel has always been brilliant but Liam has done a lot of work on his voice and it’s paid off. He’s still the coolest fecker in music.

Richard Ashcroft was sensational to get things properly warmed up, and I really like Cast. Has to be said that I didn’t see an ounce of trouble tonight, everyone just in great form and taking it all in together.

I thought it was all very well organised, apart from only being allowed that crap lager and water on the pitch. Everything else was seamless for such a massive event.

I’m very lucky to have done Edinburgh and Dublin, with Sydney to look forward to as well. It’s costing me a fortune but I wouldn’t change it. You only live once and all that, great memories have been made that’ll last me forever.

    10/10

Cheeky bint selling it tried to tell me I had to pay for water in front standing, and tried to tell me the taps I could see were broke. No they weren't. A lovely security guy helped carry a few pints of it to where I was standing.

Concert was amazing. Lovely people beside me gave me the merch that came with premium tickets, except for the bucket hat. That was really cool. And I got a free down l speck of a firework in one of my eyes, even though I wear glasses. Thankfully it was tiny, but my eyeball is grazed, on the white, so shouldn't cause any long term damage, I hope.

I'll share photos whenever energy allows. Before anyone criticise me for taking photos, I was at the back barrier of the front standing, so wasn't blocking anyone. I have memory issues, so photos help keep the memories alive for me.

For now here is the beautiful sunset.
