"A Gazan woman who was evacuated to Italy for treatment while severely emaciated has died in hospital.

The 20-year-old, who was identified as Marah Abu Zuhri, flew to Pisa with her mother on an overnight flight on Wednesday under a scheme set up by the Italian government.

More than 180 children and adults have been brought to Italy since the start of Israel's war with Gaza.

Thirty one patients and their companions arrived Rome, Milan, and Pisa this week, all with serious congenital diseases, wounds or amputations, the Italian foreign ministry said. "

Alan Shatter and the Israeli apologists on here could learn a thing or two from the lady in this article: https://archive.ph/TQr3K

A former director of Israeli military intelligence made this comments during the week:

"For every victim of October 7th, 50 Palestinians had to die. No matter if they are children. I'm not speaking out of a sense of vengeance but delivering a message for future generations. There is nothing we can do; they need a Nakba from time to time, in order to feel the price."

What's shocking though is this guy is seen as a moderate in Israel and 'centre left'. It does beg the question as to whether Israeli society is even capable of rehabilitation. They have gone so far down the path of violence and thuggery and even think it's a normal thing to be dishing out to innocent civilians.

    That's powerful.

That she knows the article will alienate her is shocking but as she said, it's not her, it's them.

Excellent article from RTE on reporting within Israel.

Channel 14 seems particularly fond of publishing vile articles and hosting disgusting contributors spewing their bile.

"Channel 14 is facing multiple allegations of incitement over its coverage of the war in Gaza.

Take, for example, this on-air quote from host Shimon Riklin about the Gazan people.

"We should supply them with neither water nor electricity. Let them drop dead in there!""

RTE calls out (positively) Haaretz too.

"(The censorship) is only concerning capabilities of the army. It's nothing. Where is the censorship in Haaretz?"

"You know, we used to laugh at the Russian media because of the way they are covering the war in Ukraine. But Israeli media is much worse because the Russian media has no other choice. Israeli media is free to publish whatever it wants, and they choose just to please the readers and their viewers."

No. This thread with all it's history should be kept.

Check page one and the collective circle-jerking that happened when some (who're still regulars on here) said they (the Palestinians) reaped what they sow.

Let them continue to own their opinions!

Some of the earlier "The Israelis would never bomb a hospital, that's Hamas propaganda" comments have aged like fine milk. There was genuine condemnation of the Hamas attack that set all this off; it took time for people to realise Israel was reacting in the worst possible way. I wonder if anybody thinks the massively disproportionate response has made Israel safer.

Just meant for the thread title. Something more might be needed to reflect the atrocities Israel is and has committed.

I was surprised to read (but shouldn't have been) that Channel 14 is actually very popular in Israel. One would be under the impression from its tone and coverage in the last year that it is an extremist TV channel on the fringes aimed at headbangers, but that's not factoring in that that probably describes a large swathe of the Israeli population at this point.

I don't believe that Israel was nor is in any danger.

That is not to diminish what happened Oct 7th but Hamas we're never going to pose any threat of consequence beyond that day. Nor was Iran or Lebanon.

The Gaza campaign started as retribution but quickly turned into a full scale assault to raze the strip to the ground. The final solution is to annex the entire strip, which has now started.

Many people see this - hence the multiple worldwide condemnations of yet another War Crime.

And now there is the E1 plan which illegally occupies East Jerusalem and splits the West Bank.

Israel is making it clear they will have Sovereignty from the Jordan to the Sea. Which reminds me, haven't seen @SeanW posting for a long time.

    I wonder why.

Alleged War Criminal #1 is a huge fan.

Makes perfect sense - the dregs of society feeding at the cesspit trough that is channel 14.

Unfortunately for the Palestinians, moderate Israelis and the rest of the world, "the dregs" seem to be a sizeable majority.

You'd have to wonder how Israel can ever be reintegrated back into the global community, when a large section of the population are clearly racist and have no problem at all with their country dishing out extreme violence left, right and centre.

Even Russian society seems to be in nowhere near as bad a situation as this. We've seen hundreds of vox pop videos on YouTube where Russian people expressed serious regret for the invasion of Ukraine and sympathy for their population (yes, there are plenty of hateful and ageing pro-Putin warmongers, but opinions are very mixed). The Israelis seem way more radicalised and brutalised and fond of violence as the first port of call for their country.

The "journalist" shilling for Israel accuses Albanese of shilling for code pink.

Then she thanks him for educating her. Bet he was stupid enough to not even realise he had just been handed his a**se.

She's right about Israeli occupation - factually correct.

Francesca Albanese is one of the most relentless antisemites that you could ever come across, and it is a terrible indictment of the UN that she was ever appointed to her role as Special Rapporteur in the first place.

She had to apologise for regurgitating antisemitic tropes about the Jews ruling the US, an admission which, if she denies being an antisemite, still situates her firmly as a conspiracy theorist at best, and completely unfit for such an important position.

On Oct 7th her main concern while watching events unfold was to urge people to put the Hamas slaughter 'in context'. Even Odhinn admits he had to spit his coffee out as the day progressed, not ol' Francesca.

Here is here latest missive to the faithful.

People continue to say ‘But Hamas, Hamas, Hamas’... I don't think people have any idea what Hamas is. Hamas is a political force that won the 2005 elections—whether we like it or not. Hamas built schools, public facilities, hospitals. It was simply the authority, the de facto authority.”“So it is critical that you understand, that when you think of Hamas, you should not necessarily think of cut-throats, people armed to the teeth, or fighters. It's not like that.”

So, there you have it. Hamas, simply the local authority, like the Sligo county council. A bunch of over-excited mandarins who got a bit carried away with themsleves during a council meeting on Oct 7th, and who took an early lunch and embarked on a spontaneous cross border field-trip into Israel to try and sort the whole problem out once and for all. Simples.

Sure. Got any sources? Seems she was clear and accurate enough in that presser?

    Great to see you back.

Was Sheepy one of the people saying they were taking a break, or one of the people banned for a week?

    She had to apologise

    Where was it published?

Referring to her assertions that the 'Jewish Lobby' has subjugated the US, this was her response when questioned.

“Some of the words I used, during Israel’s offensive on the Gaza Strip in 2014, were infelicitous, analytically inaccurate and unintendedly offensive,” she said through her office. “People make mistakes. I distance myself from these words, which I would not use today, nor have used as a UN Special Rapporteur.”

Distancing herself from her words. That's a new one. Conscioulsy uncoupling, in the new zeitguist, but, nevertheless, it's clear what was implied.

A comprehensive list of her calumnies below. She should have been removed ages ago. She thinks she's damaging Israel, but she's really just damaging the integrity of the UN.

    Her Oct 7th quite below.

The day that Hamas targeted Israel’s civilian populations massacring of over 1,200 people and kidnapping 250, Albanese’s reaction was to minimize Hamas’ atrocities stating that, “Today’s violence must be put in context.”

The ADL you are quoting are a strongly pro-Zionist lobby group who make it their business to go after anyone who criticises Israel - they are another version of AIPAC.

Well, I guess if you pick your sources carefully, pretty much any one in a position of responsibility could be vilified.

I mean, in fairness, she did acknowledge her mistake and offered a fully explained apology.

Just like Netanyahu apologised for stating there is no starvation in Gaza. Oh wait, he has no honour at all and won't apologise even to to the ICC when they send him down to rot in The Hague.

For, you know, balance, the Wiki for Albanese is pretty clear.

But pro Israelis will throw the antisemitism confetti around like snuff at a wake. 'twas ever and always.

Critics of Albanese have accused her of antisemitism and anti-Israel bias.

Several human rights groups and numerous scholars of antisemitism have said the accusations are illegitimate attempts to discredit her.

Remember all the posts whining about Hamas stymying negotiations? I do:

"Senior Palestinian sources involved in the negotiations told Haaretz that they have the impression that Israel is refusing every proposal that the mediators formulate, and that all signs indicate that Netanyahu is determined to continue with the plan to occupy the Strip in the absence of real pressure from the international arena on the issue. 'Hamas is willing to talk about everything, but Netanyahu is not yet ready for any deal, 'claimed one of the sources"

And remember when Israel refused multiple Hamas offers to release a the hostages in one go - as far back as March?

Seems alleged War Criminal #1 (at large) is practicing his flip-flops:

Netanyahu said on Saturday that he would only agree to a deal in which all hostages are released in one phase, reiterating that Israel's terms include Hamas' disarmament, the demilitarization of Gaza, Israeli security control of the territory, and a governing authority that is not the Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.

A lot of detail here about the nationwide general strike today.

In summary, seems the IDF and Israeli police are well able to turn a blind eye to settler violence and murder but by god if you're holding a protest sign, prepare for a kicking. And it's not only the authorities doing the kicking - disgruntled Israelis are too. The wheels are rapidly coming off.

Netanyahu (at large alleged war criminal) is called out as toxic and Isaac Herzog calls the international community "hypocrites". "How to win friends and influence people" - FAIL

And as usual, Smotrich can't help spewing his toxic bile at any and every opportunity.

"But Francesca Albanese was mean to Israel"…

Hundreds of thousands of Israelis protested for a hostage deal and to end the war in Gaza as part of Sunday's nationwide general strike, blocking several key roads across the country.

Police arrested at least 27 demonstrators, using force in many instances, including a water cannon in Jerusalem to disperse a protest. In a separate incident, a truck driver was arrested after assaulting a protester in central Israel.

    • The Hostage and Missing Families Forum announced that on Monday, they will set up a protest encampment on the Gaza border in southern Israel, stating that "the government's callousness forces us to escalate the struggle and do everything to bring back our loved ones."
    • At a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said that the protests "guarantee that the atrocities of October 7 will be repeated" and make it difficult to secure the hostages' release, as well as ensure that IDF soldiers "will have to keep fighting again and again in a forever war." Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called the protests "an evil, damaging campaign that is playing into Hamas' hands and is burying the hostages in the tunnels… They are also trying to force Israel to surrender to its enemies and endanger the state's security."
    • Einav Zangauker, mother of hostage Matan, said in response that "Netanyahu's toxic and detached statement only proves how much the protests scare him."
    • Israeli President Isaac Herzog spoke at Tel Aviv's Hostage Square, calling on the international community to "stop being a bunch of hypocrites" and to pressure Hamas to release the hostages.

    A very honest opinion piece.

    "Let us be clear:

In the Gaza Strip there is not enough food. The food that exists is not varied and nutritious, and is not available to the weakest populations.

It is not available in sufficient quantities to the sick and disabled, it is not available to pregnant and nursing women, and to women and girls in general.

It is not available to children who have been orphaned or left to care for themselves.

It is not available in areas such as the north and Rafah, where the army severed it from the rest of the Strip via military corridors…

The chaos we created in Gaza, the hunger, the shortage and the uncertainty, are all contributing factors to the fact that aid does not reach the weakest.

We Israelis are responsible for this situation"

    Reut Shaer

    They're her quotes. Her words.

So, unless you're suggesting the ADL shoved their hand up her jackie and manullly manipulated her mouth then she's the one who has to take responsibility for them, and they're entiltled to point out what a consitant and repetitive antisemitie she is.

It's no surprise that you're happy to see a UN representative openly being an apologist for Hamas.
