I'd say those two are sweating buckets right now. Richly deserved, too.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

I'd love to know how this came to attention McGregor's lawyers.

McGregor tells his solicitor "hey I've got two witnesses who saw this…"

What happens after that? It's a fairly incredible scoop, so incredible that any officer of the court or the barristers they are briefing will surely test?

Solicitor gets them in for a interview, writes up their statements. It's reviewed and sent to counsel.

It gets written then into a sworn affidavit and it's only on the morning of appeal that it's pulled.

This could get very very messy

He said that about people "cribbing and moaning" (from sidelines) about state of the Irish economy as he saw it - not his personal critics, or even critics of FF I think. It was an off the cuff remark, vs the lying and sustained aggression towards opponents we see now that is becoming a valid political strategy in the age of social media.

He apologised for it quickly (perhaps some politicians today might just opt to double down and be praised for it by supporters).

Anyway nothing to do with McGregor and thread - was just reading and find it interesting the way history gets a bit distorted somewhat, and myths get made. There's a need to cast "Bertie" as this uniquely awful figure now, because of what happened afterwards (he wasn't IMO). He was ferociously popular with the Irish electorate in his heyday ironically (more fool us I suppose - don't think we've collectively learned much either)!

Bertie the brown envelope president still with no bank account. He'll be paid in anoraks.

Im truly shocked those appeal witnesses turned out unreliable 🤣.

The nonsense on McGregor's twitter rolls on. Apparently when he's president Michael O'Leary is going to fly all illegal immigrants out of Ireland for free. Closes out his tweet with "End of". Well that's that then so.

Once you put End Of or FACT at the end of point, there's absolutely no denying it.

In fairness it's been used to great effect here over the years.

First they came for the socialists...
