Lazy analysis from the MOTD team, poor Alan Shearer didn't realise that Kerkez had already been sitting on the bench for a few minutes when the sequence of play that led to Semenyo's first goal unfolded.

Anyone know where this new green jersey has gotten to?

Saw a kid out in Seapoint wearing it yesterday but can't see it officially announced yet nevermind for sale.

Usually announced a few weeks after the season starts. Last year it was August 27th launch for the 3rd kit but that was Nike

September 7th is rumoured. It's the CL away kit so isn't needed yet. The September international break seems a good time to launch

The IBIS hotel in Albert dock is beside Liverpool One for shopping and food etc.

We got really early 9am and they gave us a room early to get Somerset no extra charge. Its basic but clean.

Early in the season everyone is fresh etc it's when you get to the business end of the season quality players start to show their value. We have signed young players so game time will need to be managed. Based on what he showed in the c shield thought starting Kerkez wasn't a good selection. He'll benifit from Gravenberch returning. But yes quality like Isak will be a huge boost in quality.

Had 6 forwards last season and now we have 4.

All the Wirtz and Frimpong (especially if Bradley keeps getting injured) stuff is theoretical for me.

Of all the signings we've made, Kerkez is the one I have the biggest question mark over. I've never been super impressed by him and he hasn't performed well for Liverpool in any of the games so far.

way too soon to be judging anybody . As always some new signings will do very well others pretty good and most likely at least one going to struggle just have to let it play out . In the meantime enjoy the madness that brings .

We should remember that Robbo took months to get starts and didn't really come alive until January. Kerkez will need time too. Hopefully Robertson can help us with that by putting in good shifts in the meantime

INNSide by Melia is my go to. Lovely hotel. For Champions League games they put up the away teams there so I've ended up in the lift with opposition players before the game a few times!

Release him, cannot expect a 21 year old to learn the craft of defending. No idea why we signed him, no future at the club at all.😉

I know what you are saying though, him flying into challenges off his feet is, I don't know if worrying is the word, but it makes your heart race. But he is only 21 years old and has time to learn, even if he has to play off the bench for a few months much like Robertson did when he first started.

Just looking at our squad at the moment, we only have 5 players over 30 years old in our squad. VVD, Salah, Alisson, Robertson and Endo. We will need to get some CB with experience but Frimpong (24), Kerkez (21), Bradley (22) and now Leoni (18) means we are well placed for the future. I know Konate makes mistakes but for a CB he is still young at only 26 and it would be great if he signed an extension.

Our midfield we have Gravenberch (23), Szoboszlai (24) and Mac Allister (26) and then Jones (24). We will see how the others develop but those players again are not old.

Our attack has been transformed age wise, Wirtz (22), Salah (33), Gakpo (26), Ekitike (23) and Chiesa (27).

I would say we have done well to overhaul the squad and still be competitive. Not sure if we will win the league again this year, there are always so many variables that decide it, but I am very confident that we are well placed to keep challenging for the title and trophies up to 2030 with the players we have currently (if they stay with the club). Well done to the club and those running it.

Yes, of course I'm not making any conclusions on Kerkez, or any of the new signings for that matter.

Like has been said, it took Robertson 6 months to even get in the team. Kerkez might benefit from same.

My point was I have a small concern about him being in the team at the moment, I don't have any concerns about the others.

Kerkez would have been a diamond in last season's team but it will take time for things to gel in the new setup. Bournemouth had a well defined defensive game where he was responsible for a zone and had Huijsen available to sweep up behind him. Slot is persisting with pushing the fullbacks forward so defensively Kerkez is in no man's land with the new setup.

Van Dijk has also looked uncomfortable at times and he needs to communicate with Kerkez. The yellow card was avoidable if there was instruction for Kerkez to push wider, by being so central he gave himself about 5 extra metres to cover when the ball went wide which meant his attempted challenge was always going to be late.

Offensively he will shine when the players that invade his side of the pitch get the f#ck out of his way and let him own the flank. There can be too much congestion there to see him be effective going forward. Jones, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister and Wirtz have been guilty of moving out near the left touch line to get on the ball. That's not an issue in the final third but anywhere else along the line that should be Kerkez's ball.

In contrast on the right, Frimpong is given the ball and gets to run to the end line. His presence there seems to frustrate Salah but that's another teething issue.

With the very limited gametime weve seen so far I think they are fair observations.

I was getting sick of Robbo diving in constantly last season and Kerkez seems prone to it.

Sure, his performances in the next two games will be interesting. Alot more defending will be required.

Has anyone ever won a PL title conceding 41 goals, other than us last season. Usually it's a team playing with relegation shipping that amount , Everton last season, 44.

So we have been conceding a lot, I can't imagine anyone has won a PL title in last 20 years shipping 41 goals.

Maybe the league is getting better and better, and it's perfectly okay for Bournemouth to show their powers and hit us for two. Semenyo is a powerhouse, why is no one in for him, perfect age, 13 goals last season, and no one interested. He's a top player.

Ridiculous stuff as usual, 41 was the second tightest defence even with conceding 9 in the 4 games after we won it.

    Relegation amount 🙄

So 25 years ago then. But in recent times, 41 is a lot .

Odd example to pick - 15 teams had a worse defence than Everton last season… and only 1 side had a better defence than us (and of course we had by miles the best goal difference).

2012/13 is not 25 years ago and you were the one that said ever.

The team weren't defensively suspect if that's what you mean to suggest. It's very rare for a team to have the Premier League title virtually wrapped up by March. Of the 41 league goals conceded, 13 were when the team went into cruise control after beating Southampton.

The final league table shows we won the league by 10 points, there had been no urgency about the team for the final 10 games. It had become a matter of when were Liverpool going to mathematically win the league.

After the win against Everton on April 2nd we picked up 11 points in the final 8 games. 9 goals were conceded in the final 4 games after the title win was confirmed and nobody really cared.

It's the case for any team that wins it with games to spare, not just last season. 41 conceded is highest in 13 years. But like I said, PL is better and better every year, so maybe it will be the case going forward. Can't see anyone conceding just 15 like Chelsea did in 2015, that won't happen again.

What if we never wanted Isak at all, it was just a clever plot to encourage him to down tools because we face them next week😄

People need to be careful with jumping to conclusions on Etikite, it's only been 1 game and he is still young. It would be a huge ask for him to be relied on as our main threat through the middle for the season.

The signs are very promising but he could just as easily go on a 3/4 game streak without scoring and without an alternative we have nothing to take the pressure off him.

If a player like Isak is available to us then we would be insane not to sign him.
