Yes, he is a bad politician who has kept the confidence of the people of Ukraine, and Europe, has held his own in an invasion and war and not bowed to the despot who thought he could just do as he pleased, but is not able to wear Zelenskyy down.

I would suggest posters have a read of your posts in relation to the invasion of Ukraine. It very much so reads as if you view the invasion to be justified in the first place... You also seem to absolutely loath Zelensky but seem to ignore the fact Putin is in effect a dictator at this stage.

The outcome of the summit for Trump is that Putin confirmed the 2020 election was rigged for Biden, that was all that mattered for him. Can you imagine a Reagan or an Obama behaving like a love struck puppy in front of a Russian president . If I was an American I’d be embarrassed.

The whole thing was pre planned by Trump and Vance ffs. It wouldn’t have mattered a jot what Zelenskyy said in that room that day, they were always going to attack him, exactly like the did with the South African President and the ‘white genocide’ tapes. Zelenskyy hadn’t even made it in the building and trump already made a quip “oh you dressed up”. I GUARANTEE if Putin had turned up on the same outfit he wouldn’t have said a word.

As I saw it on the day, Zelenskyy was the embattled head of state who travelled to Washington for talks with another head of state in an effort to get help for his country and instead was sandbagged by both Trump and Vance in front of the cameras shouting at him that he had no cards to play. They acted as a duo with the intent of wiping the floor with Zelenskyy for the benefit of no one except Putin "Look Vlad, see what good boys we are".

With "allies" like Trump and Vance representing the major player in NATO and world peace, WTF would need enemies? Even neutrals would have had the decency to take their telling Zelenskyy "NO" to a quiet side room without the cameras.

One thing is for certain, it sent a clear message to the heads of state of all the other NATO pact nations that for cooperation they need not go to Trump, that he has no intent of honouring the U.S commitment to NATO.

One thing that I missed last night was any break in the proceedings for Trump and Putin (and their players) for a meal break. That lack was mentioned by the media so what gives ?. Clearly the meeting went uninterrupted, so how long and when will Trump's side to leak some "behind the scene" snippets, bloody or cosy?

Zelenskyy is the modern day Churchill who doesn't have the advantage of a sea barrier between his country and its attacker. It's 2025 and I almost can't believe I'm still reading Kremlin drivel on this site.

Trump would never even dream of speaking to Putin the way he spoke to Zelenskyy. You can't compare the two interactions.

One was Zelenskyy going to Trump to ask for continuing support

The other was Trump going to Putin begging for a favour

Feel free to present your data.

And don't anecdote me - I'm a US citizen with tons of anecdotes that chew up your nonsense and regurgitate it.

I honestly don't understand it. Why did Trump allow this disaster to happen? Nobody was calling for this meeting. Nobody made Trump state that it was ceasefire or consequences.

And Putin has made a fool of Trump everytime they have a phone call. Is it simply that Trump thought that meeting him to face to face, Putin would fall for Trumps charms and accept an offer?

And for any that missed it, Putin talked about the history of Alaska, how so much if it is steeped in Russian culture and history. That is exactly the way he talks about Ukraine.

And Trump just stood there. Nodded along like a puppy dog

If I don't have much of an opinion on something and you make me type an answer, isn't a 'diluted load of nothing' exactly what you're going to get?

There is a significant difference between making observations on factors, and my opining on things I have no basis of knowledge of. I can observe on I see the differences between how Trump supporters may react to something vs how Newsom supporters may react to something. Unless, however, you wish to ascribe to me powers of distant mind-reading I do not have, I have no way of answering the comparative question of "who came out better" without further data.

I'm going to disagree with you on that one. Our star trek fan above has it right. Americans may be divided a bit on the details of Ukraine, but for several reasons they have been paying attention to it, varying from the impact on the economy or moral/philosophical issues through to the thought that we will end up involved in a shooting conflict with a nuclear power.

By dumping Musk did he not solve the South African genocide?

They may or may not, but even the most ardent MAGA supporter cannot avoid seeing after this farce that the person they help elected as president, a position once touted as being the most powerful in the world, is now occupied by Putin`s lapdog.

I don`t think Trump dumped Musk because Trump was flashing around media of white crosses that were supposedly the site of mass genocide graves in South Africa.

But if he did then it would be par for the course with Trump. Blaming others for his own incompetence.

Some European leaders make a statement following the meeting in Alaska. Some sort of meeting today going on also from the sound of it.

It's somewhat telling which posters are celebrating Trump's talks with Putin, they've basically spent a few years pushing Russian propaganda since the war started. They're also invariably genocide deniers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,627 ✭✭✭✭charlie14

Trump was backed into a corner by Putin`s refusal to stop bombing Ukraine cities slaughtering civilians and attempted to bluff that he would sanction Russia. Everyone knew he was bluffing, including Putin. But being his little lapdog Putin gave him a way out with this sham of a conference.

The result, another TACO from Trump with the sanction deadline passed with no action and Putin turning up on U.S. soil humiliating Trump and showing him up for the little Putin bitch he is.

Is there any organisation that specialises in carrying out surveys nationally in the US ?
    ask such Q as

Do you think that the US should be moresupportive of Ukr with arnaments?
were would you rate Trumps performance at the Post summit press conference 1 to 10

Do you think that Ru should be pushed out of Sovereign Ukr

Are you happy with Trumps performance to date?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,234 ✭✭✭Field east

You are comparing apples with oranges. VZ is fighting to retain the Ukr border and to protect his people AND did not need to start a war. Whereas Putin started the war and will do anything to keep it going.
by the way while we are on this diplomatic nicety platform is Nethanyu being nice to Trump or is Trump being politically nice to Nethanyu so that each of their objectives can be achieved? But is that situation morally ok. Almost the rest of the world does not think so

That is very, very Diplomat-eeze for, you are a pointless waste of space who has achieved nothing. I hope someone translates it for Trump.

imagine Putin saying at the ‘press conference Putin saying that it is ‘ So LOVELY’ to be bordering a country like The US. We get on so well with it . There has been sooooooo much cooperation in our past history with monuments in both countries representing ‘ successful joint ventures’, etc, etc, etc, etc. Putin nearly spent all of his OC time talking in this vein. There has been Ukr issue came in as an after thought towards the end.

He has a country near him that can provide the same experience- ie Ukr which Ru has an actual land border but he choose to invade it instead of seeking areas of cooperation

How does one incorporate into Putin’s presentation the following :-

    (1) Killing Russian opposition individuals in the Uk and elsewhere by poisoning, falling out windows etc

    (2) the treatment of Navalny and circumstances around his ultimate death?
    (3) interference in elections of other sovereign countries

    (4) invasion of Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine for no reason other than he wants to restore the UssR

    (5) all the international agreements he has broken

    (6) need I go on . I’ll stop at that

What Coalition of the Willing? There were only three countries that were willing to join this when Starmer mentioned it a couple of months ago - The Brits, French and Poles.
