    What’s done is done.

    No turning back.

    What’s the use?

But I witnessed that other thing happening, and where’s the outrage for that?

"Stunning" when referring to poses on WhatsApp, Insta, social posts.

Usually it a niece or something heavily filtered, complete with duckface and dressed up in jailbait clobber.

I had to remove myself from more than one family chat thread as I was afraid what people would think of my WhatsApp images. Jesus. (We are NOT a classy family 😁)

There's an ad, I can't recall what it's about, where a girl says to a fella, it was biblical.

Some women (& even some really stupid men) when discussing gender violence issues, using the pejorative term "men", thereby tarnishing all men, instead of stating "some men" , or "a small percentage of men", when discussing crimes, or rapes, or other bad behaviours, by a small minority of men against women.

    E.g.

"Everyone knows women are raped by men...."

    Or

"We need to acknowledge that men inflict heinous physical violence against women in Ireland......"

    Etc, etc, etc

No men don't these things, some men do. It's actually a very small percentage of violent men who do. There is a world of difference here!!

P.s. this is now so pervasive in the media, that it's passed over without any scrutiny whatsoever in mainstream (i.e. feminist dominated) media on a daily basis. It's irritating to say the least... grr....

When people say 'carbon' when they mean 'carbon dioxide', as in carbon emissions, carbon tax, carbon footprint etc.

Carbon is a solid, whereas carbon dioxide is a colourless gas that we breath out and is essential to plants.

It's likely a deliberate ploy by authorities to mislead the public. The word 'carbon' often has connotations of black and dirty (eg black soot) in contrast to CO2 which is a colourless, odourless gas. The supposedly harmful and evil carbon dioxide doesn't create the desired image in people's minds if called 'carbon dioxide emissions, taxes, footprints' etc so they lie and substitute the word 'carbon' instead.

Even if they said Carbon Dioxide emissions, the poor little Carbon atom would still get the blame. And the two Oxygen atoms would get a free pass.

People who refer to their grandmother as "Nana" Where did that come from? It was always "Granny" as long back as I can recall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 7,279 ✭✭✭Badly Drunk Boy

One on my grandmothers was "Nana". She first became a grandmother on the 1950s, so it's been around for a while.

My other grandmother insisted on being called "Nanny" because "Granny" sounded like a grumpy old woman. 😄

A CT about the word 'carbon', jaysus.

What bugs me is the frequency you see in national newspapers the incorrect "CO2" or even worse "Co2". You rarely enough see the correct "CO₂"

Sometimes when there's a story about a gas poisoning incident it's clear the writer doesn't know the difference between carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide
