Manic will be along in a minute to tell us that this happened once in 1813 so it’s totally not abnormal or unprecedented.

Am all for it. Whatever pumps the stock at this stage. Have shares I want rid of. It's been dead in the water for months now

Wish I'd gotten rid of mine years ago. I receive a statement every few months reminding me of the drop in value. If there's enough of an uptick I'll be able to afford something from the eurosaver menu.

    As one does

Dagens Næringsliv, citing unnamed sources, reported: “Out of the blue, while finance minister Jens Stoltenberg was walking down the street in Oslo, Donald Trump called … He wanted the Nobel prize – and to discuss tariffs.” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/14/trump-nobel-prize-norway

I really love that this just eats him up so much.

Trump's AG, Pam Bondi, has replaced the DC Commissioner with her own choice, the head of the DEA so Washington no longer has a local city administration-chosen head of police. It seems likely that, with Trump's mention of doing in Chicago and NYC what he did in LA, and now in Washington, that, through federalization, your local police force may be serving at the pleasure of Trump and not the local populace-vote. With those cities being in states, they might have a better chance of withstanding the whims of Trump, if their state senators and governors pull their fingers out.

With the scrapping of the Dept of Education, the opening of camps and the surreptitious introduction of plan 25, and the presence of a parading fanbase, it might be time for Trump to start sporting a toothbrush on his upper lip.

if that breakout of disturbances actually happen , then would that not give Trump a reason to declare a national emergency, envoke an old law and postpone the mid terms. Or depending on timing postpone the presidential one - for , coincidentally, 4 years.

He could consider the Russian of using the equivalent of the ‘little green men’ concept!

was it not VERY Naieve of Trump to give Putin some ideas of what he is thinking .eg imagine Trump saying that he will know within 2MINUTES whether Putin is serious about negotiating a ceasefire or not. All Putin has to do is say that he I definately is and that we should get into the details of it and at the same time, in order to stretch out the ‘opening remarks’ to well over the 2 MINUtES, throw in the nuclear situation , possibilities of economic and cultural cooperation, investment opportunities in Russia, enquire how his family is keeping, give him the posthumous medal for the family of the American who got killed fighting on the Russian side.
that fixes the 2 minute time span - with all those CARROTS dangles in front of Trump

That's what he's hoping for. Trying to push the people so far that they hit back and boom, excuse found for a national emergency or even martial law. I wouldn't put anything past him in an attempt to stay in power.

And as usual the brave and proud patriots are afraid to show their faces.

If I had money to invest I would open a snood factory. It used to flags were the goldmine but now it's stupid face coverings.

"was it not VERY naive of Trump to give Putin some ideas of what he is thinking"

Of course it was. His supporters believe he's playing 4D chess, but in reality he's chewing on the pieces.

Either Trump knows he's full of sh1t, in which case he is a complete fraud, or he believes he's the best deal maker in the world, which means he's completely delusional.

And by the way, if anyone doesn't believe that Putin has something on him, they're utterly delusional too.

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

It not so much what Putin has on him at this stage. It's probably, by Trump's standards, pretty minor stuff like the rumoured video footage of him getting a golden shower from a Russian prostitute. Given his supporters overlook his convictions for fraud, sexual assault, the documented abuse of his ex-wives, his close links to Epstein, his obvious hebephilia etc. etc. etc. it's unlikely that any scandal or kompromat that Putin has on him is enough to coerce him now.

It's the fact he was using whatever that initial leverage was to influence Trump since the 80's. It's his history of decades of treason that Putin controls him with now: "come along Agent Krasnov, do as your told or we'll tell the American people all the things you've already done for us and they'll shoot you as a traitor".

You think Putin isn't in charge of all of this? Trump is selling this like he is holding talks with Putin.

Putin is already calling the shots as he is meeting Trump to agree on what he wants from Ukraine. It isn't even clear when Ukraine will actually be involved.

Putin has agreed to meet now, as it suits him. He has completely ignored any Trump demands to date, so clearly the timing is all done to Putin.

Remember, Trump has stated that he has lots of great calls with Putin, so what is there to discuss? Or, what the hell was discussed on those calls that Trump now needs 2 minutes to know if Putin is ready for a deal?

I think it's more simple than that: Money.

Trump and his family have been very open that when no US bank wanted to deal with them anymore they went to Russian banks.

I honestly think it is just that Trump likes and admires Putin. He doesn't need to be coerced into anything.

@Jelle1880 I think it's pretty well documented that Trump has been bankrolled by the Russian mafia since his mate Giuliani helped them knock out the Italian-American competition in New York. His presidential grifting and memecoin scams, however, may have freed him from that control? I've not seen exact figures but if the story that he's actually a billionaire is true, the financial leverage may no longer exist.

I'm sure that in Trump's deranged mind the prospect of being properly bankrupted and actually left destitute is probably more terrifying than being shot. Sadly, even were his financial house of cards to topple, his presidential pension will protect him from the karmic end he deserves: dying from a painful and perfectly treatable condition while homeless on the streets due to a lack of health insurance.

Can anyone be certain that the real ‘poo-tin’ will be in alaska……what’s the probability that he just sends one of his alleged many ‘body-doubles’ / lookalikes …?

    Trump / Putin about peace-

The number of Ukrainian civilians murdered by Russia this year does not seem to make it on to today's media-

Can't see Trump bringing it up either-

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,350 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

The puppet master from Moscow is well in control of his dummy in Washington.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,220 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

Unlikely I'd say. The 'body doubles' thing only works from a distance, sitting in the chair at a military parade or such-like.
Much harder to maintain that fakery in a private conversation, especially one that is presumably going to touch on areas of military knowledge that only a handful of the top people on either side would be aware of.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,350 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

If the meeting DOESN'T last for some hours, I'll be surprised, shocked even if it ends before the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 minute deadline Trump gave it to see if Putin was looking for a deal and walks out if he is not being taken seriously by Putin. What the U.S. audience needs is Waldorf & Statler and Sam the Eagle.

Unfortunately apparently Trump has gotten rid of anyone with decent previous negotiations expierience and replaced them with inexperienced flunkies whose only talent is loyalty to the chief.

    MSN

"Mussayev alleges Kazakh businessmen supplied young women to Jeffrey Epstein’s island and Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
He names Tofik Arifov, whose criminal case in the 1990s was dropped at the FSB’s request, as a key figure in the scheme.
Three other wealthy Kazakhs are accused of collaborating in these operations under Russian direction."

Trump is walking on eggshells around Putin, if above story is true and can be validated, pretty sure Putin will say something to him in private which will shook Trump to his core.

There hardly much chance that putin’s plane get flown into by some kami-kasi yank……and takes out the Cnut and the rest of his ‘cabinet’ once and for all and then someone else in ankorage takes a proper aim at trump finishing him also plus Vance and the rest of team of ‘dumb fcuks’

When it comes to Donnie, today will be about 3 things:

    • Distraction from Epstien (He hopes)
    • Photo-op to fluff his ego
    • Pretending to talk "Peace" to prop up his chances for the Nobel that he's not getting.

I would doubt "Ukraine" will factor in there at all.

Donnie's ego will get a massage from Putin and his gouls, he'll propose a "Peace" "Deal" where Ukraine swaps bit of Ukraine with Russia for…..bits of Ukraine….which gets rejected. A couple weeks pass, Donnie gets pissy because the Russians had no intention of honoring a ceasefire and we end up back where we are now, where the rest of the free world is doing what they can to support Kyiv while the US is being shown up yet again as the tragic embarresment that it has become.

Today reminds me a lot of when Donnie met Kim Jong Un. Remember how that brought a permanent and lasting peace to Korea? Oh….right….

can anyone name /list the 5/6 peace deals that trump is alleged to have masterminded in the last 6 months according to ‘karo-lying’ levettit / his bullshit Barbie press secretary with the ‘amazing lips’ 👄…….

    1. India Pakistan
    2. ??????
    3. ??????
    4. ??????
    5. ??????
    6. ??????
    7. Russia Ukraine (today) 🤔

    1. India / Pakistan (Which they likely did themselves, but Pakistan wanted to give Donnie credit, likely to garner favor)
    2. Congo / Rwanda: I seriously doubt he did anything here beyond the US being a referee to the talks. Also, with the history of this conflict, give it a couple of months…
    3. Kosovo: I have no idea why he's mentioning this. No major changes to this one, US sponsored or otherwise.
    4. Thailand / Cambodia: Again, I doubt the US had much to do with this. They go into bursts of fighting and then stop.
    5. ???????
    6. ???????
    7. Russia / Ukraine

Not sure with the last two claims. Could be that Donnie's "best people" have a counting problem.
